AI is becoming increasingly capable of generating biological hypotheses, therapeutic candidates and experimental designs. But generating ideas is advancing much faster than our ability to test what those ideas will do in human biology. Existing systems force a tradeoff: the most biologically relevant approaches are slow and expensive, while faster in vitro and computational systems often lack the fidelity needed to capture human response. Today, we’re announcing $20M in seed financing led by Quiet Capital, with participation from Gradient, Haystack and Compound, to help close that gap. Polyphron is building artificial human biology: a system that combines automated manufacturing of donor-diverse human tissue with AI models that learn from how those tissues change over time. Our goal is to create a verification layer for AI-driven biology: models can make predictions, test them against living human tissue, learn from the resulting trajectories and continuously improve. We’re starting with cardiac tissue, expanding across donors, and bringing liver online next. Our long-term goal is to model human response before a clinical trial is run. We are just getting started.

Donor diversity is the piece that could make this genuinely useful for translational teams. If the tissue trajectories preserve responder/non-responder signal across batches, the loop starts to look like a practical bridge from AI hypothesis ranking to IND-enabling evidence—not just another assay-throughput story.

Been such a blast spending more and more time with you guys. It's tough to comprehend how impactful a full mastery of human tissue could be for humanity. I feel like every time I see you guys the opportunity space expands. Keep crushing it!
