NextSilicon reveals new processor chip in challenge to Intel, AMD: https://lnkd.in/eVCEe4YA (Reuters) - NextSilicon, an Israeli startup whose computing chips are being evaluated by U.S. national labs, on Wednesday said it is developing a central processor that it hopes will rival Intel Corporation and AMD and help it compete with NVIDIA's systems. NextSilicon's has raised $300 million in funding and its flagship "Maverick-2" chip is designed to speed up precision scientific computing tasks such as modeling nuclear weapons. That field was once dominated by Nvidia, but as Nvidia has focused its attention on lower-precision computing tasks such as artificial intelligence, startups like NextSilicon have tried to take advantage of the AI giant's shift. #semiconductor #manufacturing #technology #innovation #chips #semiconductormanufacturing #advancedtechnology #engineering #lithography #nanometer #research #development #AI #EUV #DUV #mobileprocessors #semiconductorindustry #semiconductormarket

🚀 The Quantum Leap We Weren't Expecting: China's Photonic Quantum Chip Changes the Game A Chinese research team just released something that's redefining what industrial-grade quantum computing looks like and it's not in a lab. It's in data centers. Right now. Meet Chip X: A 6-inch photonic quantum chip that packs 1,000+ optical components onto a single wafer and claims 1,000x speed improvements over NVIDIA GPUs for specific AI workloads. What makes this different: ✓ Uses light instead of electricity (lower heat, higher efficiency) ✓ Deployed in aerospace, biomedical, and finance sectors already ✓ Deployments that took 6 months now take 2 weeks ✓ Closed-loop ecosystem: design → fabrication → testing → integration ✓ Pilot production line capacity: 12,000 wafers/year (350 chips per wafer) The reality check: This isn't a universal quantum computer breaking encryption. It's a quantum-classical hybrid accelerator optimized for AI and data processing exactly what enterprises need. Why it matters: Data centers are hitting power and latency ceilings. Photonic quantum acceleration doesn't just solve speed; it solves the energy crisis of AI training and inference. The competition just shifted. China already has the factory. The US and Europe are still scaling prototypes. #QuantumComputing #PhotonicChip #AI #DataCenters #Innovation #ChinaTech #QuantumLeap #Technology #AIEfficiency #Semiconductors #IndustrialQuantum #Fintech #Aerospace #Biomedical #ChipX #FutureTech

🔗 https://lnkd.in/dCHrW5cv China just shocked the global tech world with a quantum photonic AI chip that’s reportedly 1000× faster than NVIDIA GPUs for certain AI workloads — and this time, it’s not a lab demo. It’s real, deployed tech. Instead of relying on electrons, this chip uses light (photons) to run AI computations at insane speeds with far less heat and energy use. It’s already being applied in aerospace, biomedicine, and finance, making it way more than a prototype. The craziest part? China slashed chip assembly time from 6 months to just 2 weeks, and they’re already mass-producing wafers. While the US and Europe are still experimenting with prototypes, China is pushing quantum-classical hybrid chips into industrial production. Is this a true NVIDIA killer? Maybe not yet — but it’s definitely a massive leap that could reshape the entire AI hardware race. #AI #QuantumComputing #Photonics #NVIDIA #ChinaTech #Semiconductors #AIRevolution #FutureTech #TechNews #Innovation #QuantumAI #ArtificialIntelligence

China’s Supercomputer Chips Claim to Be 10× More Powerful Than Nvidia A new study from researchers in China has stunned the tech world — claiming that the country’s latest homegrown supercomputer chips can deliver performance up to ten times higher than Nvidia’s GPUs in certain scientific simulations. According to the study, Chinese-made processors achieved remarkable results using advanced system design and software optimization, completing complex fluid-dynamics simulations with 89% fewer nodes and massive speed gains over comparable Nvidia systems. While experts note the performance boost was achieved in specific workloads — not across all tasks — the breakthrough signals a major step forward for China’s semiconductor independence and supercomputing power. If verified, this could mark a turning point in the global chip race, showing that China is rapidly catching up to — and in some cases surpassing — Western technology in high-performance computing and AI infrastructure.

Chinese scientists have unveiled a revolutionary photonic chip that could change the computing world forever. Developed by researchers at Tsinghua University, this new chip processes information using light particles instead of electrons, achieving speeds and efficiency levels previously thought impossible. Unlike traditional silicon chips, which rely on the movement of electrical current, the new design manipulates photons that travel at the speed of light. This breakthrough allows for data processing up to 1,000 times faster than Nvidia’s top AI chips — while using far less power and producing minimal heat. The team claims this chip solves a “century-old bottleneck” known as the von Neumann bottleneck, which has limited computing speed for decades due to the separation of memory and processing units. By merging these two functions into a single light-based circuit, the chip enables near-instant data transfer and massively parallel computation. If scaled for mass production, this innovation could redefine AI, quantum computing, and data centers, giving China a major edge in the global tech race. Experts say it could drastically reduce energy use while powering next-generation AI models, space systems, and national defense technologies. 📌 Sources and References: ✓Read and learn more: https://lnkd.in/gYmabWVZ https://lnkd.in/ga3wFWd6 https://lnkd.in/gVMpicAp https://lnkd.in/gXyymy5d https://lnkd.in/gnMfz32p https://lnkd.in/gc44YWFp https://lnkd.in/g-jVyyus https://lnkd.in/gbjxwq7e https://lnkd.in/gjKgfJpP https://lnkd.in/gK5AnrdX https://lnkd.in/gvCYy8tF https://lnkd.in/ggFjm-4J https://lnkd.in/gjkj8UhD https://lnkd.in/gjbWngTf https://lnkd.in/gfrXGaTf https://lnkd.in/gbXVXtRP https://lnkd.in/gFgsKTdp https://lnkd.in/gFZCPXxw https://lnkd.in/gwBJigfK https://lnkd.in/g-Um9QgE https://lnkd.in/gpNZEj9Y https://lnkd.in/gjKgfJpP https://lnkd.in/gzYf3x67 https://lnkd.in/gHy4ai4A https://lnkd.in/gsFibqhy https://lnkd.in/gixtvch4 ✓Peer-Reviewed Scientific Publications: https://lnkd.in/gkuPxkmd https://lnkd.in/giDJjQHB https://lnkd.in/gbvFTqsA https://lnkd.in/gXg2A7Ew https://lnkd.in/g7h3X6Q3 Credit: CTTO 📌 "Note: The image is AI-generated and intended for illustrative purposes only. NextSilicon’s focus on scientific computing fills gap left by Nvidia’s AI focus. Competing with Intel and AMD on CPU performance is ambitious, but their specialized architecture could give them an edge. With $300M in funding and evaluation by U.S. national labs, they seem well-positioned to prove real-world performance.
