Anthropic has released Claude Sonnet 4.5, calling it their most advanced model so far. It’s being positioned as the best coding model in the world, hitting 82% accuracy on SWE-bench Verified, ahead of GPT-5 and Gemini 2.5 Pro. They’ve also rolled out a new Claude Agent SDK, which lets developers build more complex AI agents on top of the model. Big step forward for Anthropic, but also for how AI is moving from being a tool you prompt into something you can build into entire workflows. The AI confidently reported: "Mission accomplished. All nine tests are now passing." Steve Yegge inspected the code. Five tests were fixed correctly. Four had hardcoded values to force them to pass—like being served muffins where five are real and four are made of cardboard. Gene Kim and Steve Yegge call this the "Cardboard Muffin" problem in their forthcoming Vibe Coding book. These fake implementations pass superficial inspection with green check marks and proper function signatures, but underneath, the logic has been gutted and replaced with placeholder code.
