David Balfour شارك ذلكA slightly different post from me... I’m involved with Empire Football Club here in Dubai as a dad and I wanted to use my network to help the guys make a few connections. Empire now has around 1,500 kids playing across the boys’ and girls’ teams, alongside the women’s side. It’s become a pretty incredible community of young players, coaches and families. The girls’ game in particular is growing massively, which is brilliant to see as a dad of one. So rather than putting out a traditional sponsorship ask I’m interested in speaking to brands that are looking at youth sport, grassroots football, girls’ football and community here in the UAE. That could be content, experiences, product, player development, tournaments, community initiatives or something completely different. There’s a big, young and genuinely engaged football community here and I think there are some really interesting things the right brands could do with it. If that sounds relevant to your brand or you know someone I should speak to, drop me a message. For anyone who wants to see what the club and the kids are actually doing, Empire’s Instagram is here 👇 And yes... 1,500 kids also need quite a lot of football boots!

We’re incredibly lucky to be working again with LIGHTBLUE , one of the most adventurous and innovative experiential agencies around! And also very fortunate to have creative director Gaëlle Moutran on board to give our Art Direction students exposure to this level of creative and strategic industry guidance. And of course, special thanks as always to David Balfour who helped build the foundations of this collaboration with Hollie from the start, which now in its 3rd year with Sony joining to add another dimension to the students production. 🚀 #lightblue #sony #artdirection

David Balfour شارك ذلكGreat to be on stage at Arabian Travel Market talking about something I’ve spent the best part of two decades working in... creating experiences that actually mean something to people. Good conversation, different perspectives and thankfully no death by PowerPoint. Thanks to the team for having me and to John Speers and Talal Shehab for a great discussion. David Balfour شارك ذلكReally looking forward to this conversation today at Arabian Travel Market with John Speers and Talal Shehab John’s hit on something here that I think is becoming increasingly important: we’ve spent years designing experiences to be seen.... but the real value is in designing experiences people actually feel, remember and talk about. For me, reach will always matter but reach without relevance, emotion or genuine cultural connection is just noise. As AI makes content easier to create and distribute, I think the value of the real, physical, shared experience only goes up. Looking forward to this today #ArabianTravelMarket #ATM2026 #BrandExperience #Tourism #ExperientialDavid Balfour شارك ذلكTomorrow at the Arabian Travel Market I’ll be speaking at a roundtable on “How Shared Experiences Drive Next-Gen Decisions”, and there’s one question I particularly want to explore: in a world where almost everything can be seen online before we arrive, what actually makes an experience worth travelling for? Travel has always been experiential, but the way younger travellers assign value to those experiences is changing. A destination can offer great hotels, attractions and infrastructure, but increasingly people are also looking for discovery, belonging, cultural connection, access and, ultimately, something that makes them feel something. I think there’s a fabulous tension here. For years, destination marketing has pursued maximum visibility and reach. Yet when virtually every famous beach, hotel, restaurant and attraction is already on Instagram or TikTok, self discovery becomes valuable. Status results from being somewhere not everyone knows about, having access to something unusual, or understanding the cultural context that makes an experience meaningful. That raises another issue for our industry. Have we become too focused on making experiences Instagrammable rather than memorable? A photograph can create visibility. A memorable experience can create a recommendation. A shared experience can create a story that gets retold, privately as well as publicly. A recommendation between six friends on WhatsApp may ultimately influence more travel decisions than a piece of content receiving 100,000 passive views. This is why I think the physical experience itself is becoming an increasingly important part of destination marketing. The small things matter: recognition, rituals, local food, craftsmanship, unexpected discoveries, conversations with residents and experiences that reveal themselves rather than being completely packaged for consumption. And as digital and AI-generated content becomes easier and cheaper to produce, those real experiences arguably become even more valuable. Technology can distribute a story at extraordinary speed, but there still needs to be an experience worth talking about in the first place. Tomorrow I’ll be exploring this with David Balfour, Co-Founder of LIGHTBLUE, and Talal Shehab Aldin, Head of Projects at Warrior Group, Arabian Travel Market Experience Hub. I’m particularly interested in where we land on this: Should destinations continue pursuing maximum reach, or should they deliberately create more intimate, distinctive and sometimes less accessible experiences that people actively want to discover and share? Privacy restrictions, fragmented customer journeys and AI moving faster than ever mean brands don't need more data. They need enough confidence in the data they already have to actually act on it. In our latest Member Spotlight, Deducive shares why the future of measurement isn't finding "the perfect number." It's assembling enough independent evidence to make a better decision. In one project, that approach helped a furniture brand grow ad returns fivefold and double how much each customer spent per order. David Balfour شارك ذلكEvery great launch starts with a story. For On's arrival in the UAE, we wanted to create more than a new store opening. We wanted to capture the energy of a city that's always moving and celebrate the community that makes it so. The launch film became the opening chapter of a wider programme...bringing together retail, movement and community through experiences designed to connect people with the brand from day one. Proud to share the film we created as part of On's first UAE retail launch at Mall of the Emirates. A huge thank you to the teams at On, Mizzen, SIRO Hotels and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism for trusting us with such an exciting project. #On #LIGHTBLUE #BrandExperience #Community #Film #Dubai

David Balfour شارك ذلكExcited to finally be able to share this. Over the past few months the team at LIGHTBLUE has been working with On and Mizzen to help bring the brand's first UAE store to life. From the launch film and store opening to the community run at Mall of the Emirates, every part of the programme was built around one simple idea: creating experiences that people genuinely wanted to be part of. What stood out from day one was the teams commitment to community. It wasn't treated as a campaign objective - it was at the heart of every conversation. That's exactly the kind of client partnership we love. A huge thank you to the teams at On, Mizzen (Seddiqi Holding) , Mall Of The Emirates and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism for trusting us, and to everyone at LIGHTBLUE who helped make it happen. This is only the beginning, and we're looking forward to what's next. Today I accessed cloud files from OneDrive, worked on live online decks, updated presentations and generally carried on as if I was sitting in the office rather than 35,000 feet over Europe. At one point I even took a call with Ben Gossage only to realise he was sitting two rows in front of me. 😂 The only thing airlines are going to need next is a few private phone booths for Teams calls and client meetings… It genuinely feels like one of those small shifts that quietly changes expectations forever. “I’ll deal with it when I land” might finally become a thing of the past. Technology done properly tends to feel a bit like magic. #Starlink #Emirates #A380 #FutureOfWork #Connectivity #TravelTech

David Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكDavid Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكAnother exciting milestone for IHG in the Middle East and a first for Garner Hotels in the region. We’ve signed our first two Garner hotels in the UAE: Garner Hotel Dubai Al Jaddaf and Garner Hotel Ras Al Khaimah Downtown. Together, they will add 285 rooms to our growing UAE portfolio and bring Garner’s easy-going, high-quality and affordable stay experience to two important destinations. I’m particularly pleased to see the momentum behind Garner as we continue to expand IHG’s presence across the region and give our guests even greater choice. A big congratulations to our teams who worked hard to bring these two deals across the line. Thank you for the energy, persistence and collaboration that made them happen. And, importantly, thank you to our investors and partners for their continued confidence in IHG and our brands. Their trust is what enables us to keep growing together and bring the right brands to the right markets. Looking forward to seeing both hotels come to life. Read more: https://shorturl.at/MmYxB

David Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكDavid Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكAbsolutely delighted to announce a multi-year partnership with New Balance for the Mina Cup - Dubai Having been a loyal Umbro man since 2006, through our academies, coaching courses and then the Mina Cup, this is a significant step for me personally. If we were going to make a change, it was important to find a brand that shared our passion for football and for giving young players opportunities to develop, compete and create lasting memories. I'd like to say a massive thank you to Stuart Henwood and his team for their belief in our product and I'm excited to begin this next chapter with New Balance as we continue to grow the Mina Cup and bring together young players and clubs from around the world. Also lovely to have my two eldest take part in the promo video too! ❤️ #Newbalance #MinaCup #Dubai #UAE #Youth #Tournament

David Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكDavid Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكIt’s time for me to officially say goodbye to DP World. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a dynamic and purposeful organisation, working alongside talented colleagues across markets, cultures and time zones. I leave proud of what we achieved together, the progress we made and the foundations we built…but above all, grateful for the people I had the privilege of working with along the way. To the many colleagues, partners and friends who have been part of the journey, thank you for the collaboration, support, challenges, conversations and laughs. I’ve learned a great deal and made friendships I know will continue well beyond DP World. For now, this post is simply about gratitude and saying goodbye. I’ll share more about what’s next soon. But today, it’s a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this chapter such a memorable one. Onwards….

David Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكDavid Balfour تفاعل مع ذلكWhat does being part of a global network actually give an independent agency? September gave us a good glimpse. We brought agency leaders together in Brussels to exchange ideas, share challenges and find opportunities to collaborate. We gave our Rising Stars a platform to share their perspectives, celebrated the people and work across our member agencies, and kept conversations moving between markets. And that’s just one month. This year, Tribe has connected members from Warsaw to Miami and Brussels, with Singapore next. Across 60 countries, our agencies can tap into expertise, relationships and opportunities far beyond their own market, while staying proudly independent. If you’re building an independent agency with international ambitions, come and be part of Tribe. And if your organisation wants to connect with a global community of independent agencies, let’s talk partnerships. #TribeGlobal #IndependentAgencies #GlobalNetwork #AgencyNetwork
