Last week's winning screenshot one

To submit a screenshot, simply post it as an answer to this question, but please take note of the following:

  • One screenshot per post, and one post per person, please!
  • Limited picture modifications are allowed, such as cropping, simple filters, and blurring of identifying info such as names, but not adding other images or text.
  • To ensure a fair playing field, please post screenshots you've taken yourself rather than ones you found online.
  • Stack Exchange’s Code of Conduct still applies - so if it would be unacceptable to post normally, it’s unacceptable here.

Also, try to avoid pictures that include spoilers. We want everyone to be able to enjoy this contest, so the less spoilers the better.

How long will the contest run?

We will accept submissions for a week, until February 16, 2026, then have a second week-long period where only voting will be accepted. This is to give every submission, even those posted at the end of the first week, a chance to be voted on by everyone.

After the end of the second week, at the end of the day on February 23, 2026, we will count upvotes only to determine the winning screenshot, which will be featured for a week on the main site's photo widget.

This week's theme: I'm dead.

That moment where you see something, an army, a boss, some Soulslike enemy, and know you’re going to die.

As a reminder, we're always accepting suggestions for themed weeks, and have compiled that suggestion process into a question of its own. Additionally, there is the hall of fame you can check out that contains all the previous contest winners.

I might have been a bit too close to the target. Guess I'm part of the explosion now in

  • Every time something like that happens to me, I tend to laugh at my self the same way my enemy would (if they were programed to laugh) Commented Feb 10 at 21:48

I invaded a player’s game in , only to realize it was a trap. Each of those glares is a decoy so I can’t see where the shot is coming from

is a tactical RPG where you breed cats and send them off on increasingly horrifying adventures.

Of course, the real horror is if you try to save scum -- Steven here comes out to dish out "IRL curses". If you see him, you're done for.

He is not friendly.

So, let me get straight. You use a feature of the game and you get yelled at for it? Apparently Edmund is still Edmund - toxic as ever. Thanks, I will stay away from this. Commented Feb 18 at 10:03
  • I saw there's a savescumming counter, does this affect your game in any way? Commented Feb 20 at 15:01
  • As far as I know it's per-run. (Resetting to 0 when you finish) Commented Feb 22 at 16:24

@pinckerman as far as I understand, the button to save and quit during a battle resets its state at each new run. First time it has no warning to trick the player into thinking that is an actual supported feature. You use it and next time you play Steven comes and quite toxic jokes about killing your and your family. Afterward the button gets a warning and using it gets the players increasing more rude insults and debuffs. And if you go on enough, Steven just puts the battles on autoplay with a very stupid AI that will get you killed eventually. Commented Feb 24 at 10:38

Dark Ritual

If you have 5 dogs of a rank in the yard, destroy them, & summon a demon

A game of Dogpile, with a yard overflowing with dogs (and fostered rocks). The player’s hand has an Ace and a 2. In the yard (and overflowing) are: two Chihuahuas (Aces), two Pugs (3), two Dachshunds (4), four Toy Poodles (5), two Schnauzers (6), a Chow Chow (7), a Golden Retriever (9), a Dalmatian (9), a Greyhound (10), a Great Dane (Queen), six fostered rocks, and…. And a recently summoned, oversized royal, crated, demonic black and red Great Dane (Queen)! The beast is taking up about half the yard on its own, pushing half a dozen dogs into overflow. A countdown timer flag shows 5.4 seconds remaining to get all the dogs back into the yard, but there is no room; its about to be Game Over.

  • I'm trying to understand how the game works. So far, I'm very puzzled. Is It somehow reminds me of WildSnake (a somewhat Tetris inspired game) from the SNES era. Also, that red dog(?) reminds me of Clifford. Commented Feb 10 at 22:17

@Clockwork Yeah, Dogpile is a bit like Tetris (or WildSnake), but it’s more like the 2048 game but with interesting physics — when matching dogs touch they merge to become a bigger dog, and the goal is to get a large dog before overflowing the yard (the dashed red line). There are other mechanics though, such as dog tags, that keep things interesting. It’s remarkably accomodating to different play styles. Commented Feb 10 at 23:59

  • Admittedly not that hard of a boss, but it looked intimidating and killed me twice, so... yeah :P also admittedly a bit fanservice-y, so I'm not entirely sure if it's fine, but I think it is? Commented Feb 10 at 0:42

I tried pitching my Chaos Sorcerer against the Chaos Lord... Despite the very cinematic scene, that didn't end well at all.

A Chaos Sorcerer is fighting against a Chaos Lord during a cinematic sequence. It looks like the Sorcerer dodged a sword slash, and his staff blow into his opponent's face, made him flinch.

Another scene from Defenders of the Light, this time in Fugikana, near the end of Act 2

Adidas about to throw a hammer at an innocent soldier, who is running away

While Adidas, Chen, and Darak (the three blue figures) are the protagonists of this campaign, the "I'm dead" reference is from the perspective of the human in red - storyline context before this point sets him up as a scared soldier, just finished training, faced with a situation he couldn't have expected.

And, moments after this screenshot, Adidas (the central figure with the hammer) hits the soldier, against the wisdom of the the rest of your party. The soldier doesn't in the end die, but it is still a potent reminder of the dark side of what you've done.

I (Celts, green) picked the wrong ideology in . George Washington (America, blue) and Maria I (Portugal, white) soon combined forces to teach me the error of my ways.

Celtic territory is being invaded by dozens of units from America and Portugal: primarily Musketmen, Crossbowmen and Cannons, as well as the American unique unit, Minutemen. The entire Celtic army consists of one Musketman, two Knights, and two Crossbows. Dublin has already been captured, and the capital, Edinburgh, is about to be attacked.

For those who don't know the game (probably most people who are reading this), the blue curved line in the bottom right corner is where I'm supposed to be. The nearly empty line above my hotbar is my health.
