Are the Word of God (vs 17) and the Word of Faith (vs 8) both to be understood to mean Jesus Christ (vs 4, 6, 7, 9)?

4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.5For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. 6But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed 12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.(Romans 10:4-11 KJV)

Words have sounds, shapes when written, and convey meanings.

From Romans 8:8-9 ESV

"the word of faith that we proclaim]; 9 because , if you confess with your mouth" [word/rhema, not logos]

This confessing is with the mouth making a noise, and from that meaning is conveyed.

From Matthew 4:4 ESV

"every word that comes out of the mouth of God" [word/rhema/rhemati, not logos]

Words that come out of a mouth convey meaning.

Romans 10:8 and 10:17 have in common they both use "rhema".

Romans 10:8 "the word of faith" could be words spoken from faith in Jesus Christ. And also words that might bring about faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:17 "and hearing by the word of God". [KJV not ESV] "the word of God" here means what God says. Yes God speaks to us about Jesus in the Bible. But the word here is the act of God speaking, not what he is speaking about. i.e., what is heard, is firstly God speaking.

On the back of recognising what is being said comes ears to hear.

  • Very deep. Over my head. Yet, something to ponder. (So, in vs 8, could it also be indicating that faith speaks as in rhema of faith...or, rhema of a believer...or, rhema of God...and, if so, then in that case is faith a person?) Commented 2 days ago

@Don You comment, "is faith a person?" I think that to answer that would take time and care i.e., something more than can be quickly slipped into the comments section. Commented 2 days ago
