Overspace is a dimensional space above and apart from all other realities where one can confer and communicate with cosmic intellects (Eternity, Death, the Living Tribunal) and higher thought forms like Dominions, a parallel dimension also accessible via growing with Pym Particles. The exact polar opposite of that would be Underspace, a plane of reality that lies below the dimension called the Microverse.[4] The Junction to Everywhere originated from the fifth iteration of the multiverse known as the Sixth Cosmos, accessible through negative singularities like the Negative Zone. The Overspace is also described as a subsector of the Mystery.[2]

History

Creation[]

The Overspace, or Junction to Everywhere, was created by the personification of the Sixth Cosmos when the Multiverse reached its fifth stage.[1][2]

Adam Warlock[]

After saving the universe from Thanos and ultimately acquiring his prize, the Infinity Gauntlet, Adam Warlock found himself on trial, judged by the very cosmic beings who supported him in the conflict. Presiding over the trial is the Living Tribunal, and the one making the case that Warlock is not fit to be the supreme master of the universe is Eternity. Eventually, the Living Tribunal rules against Warlock, and he is forced to surrender his godhood by dividing the six Infinity Gems.[5]

Hank Pym's Visit[]

Hank Pym grew beyond the Macroverse into the plane of existence Reed Richards called Overspace, a point above and apart from all other realities. When he reached it, it was complete whiteness, vast beyond his comprehension. Then, he encountered Eternity, the being representing almost everything in the universe. Pym was amazed to actually meet Eternity. Before he could ask any questions, Eternity punched him, demonstrating how he thought the universe treated him. He then helped him up, telling Pym that he owed him for assembling Earth's mightiest heroes, who had achieved more than the previous team, to save him from being devoured by a cancer. Pym was confused by this statement and asked Eternity why he couldn't have chosen Reed Richards, Tony Stark or Stephen Strange instead. Eternity told him that Strange had other concerns, but he informed Pym that he was Earth's Scientist Supreme. Pym was confused at the prospect of being Scientist Supreme. Eternity explained that Richards was the Explorer, who saw science as pure discovery; Stark was the Engineer, who saw science as a tool to shape the world and his destiny. But Pym was the Mage, who made impossibilities possible and going as far as to research magic. He then sent Pym back to Earth, telling him that he was the founder of new Avengers teams to come. When he returned to Earth, he quickly gathered weapons to help his friends in China to save everything.[4]

Trip with the Absorbing Man[]

When the Absorbing Man escaped his bonds en route to prison, he absorbed as many powers as he could from the Avengers Academy. Pym became Giant-Man to battle Creel, before they went on a size changing travel to the Microverse. To end the fight, Pym brought Creel to the realm of Abstracts for ten seconds. Overwhelmed by Overspace, Creel became shocked and easily subdued. They then transported him to the Raft.[3]

Fall of X[]

Magneto's soul passed through the Overspace after his death during Judgment Day. The Dominions residing there paired his self to the strata, cataloged his pain, studied him and sent him on into the City of Judgment where he emitted a distress call through a dream to Storm. Storm eventually passed through the same paths as Magneto and went through the same process of spiritual vivisection as him, while fighting the Dominions at the same time before escaping.[2]

Trivia

  • The Overspace was cataloged as a subsector of the Mystery in Resurrection of Magneto #1.
    • The Mystery was partially mapped by Al Ewing in Defenders: Beyond through association with the Jewish Tree of Life, the Kabbalah, and its sephirots.
    • When passing from the Well Beyond the Worlds into the Overspace, Storm took the path of the Tower, which is a Tarot card that symbolizes the path between the sephirots Netzach and Hod. This means the Overspace is associated with the sephirot Hod.
