There seems to be a big spambot wave going on. Just checking if all the systems are working to stop them? Seems to be a lot more posts than usual.

    @Dominique And I am on track to get Civic Duty in just a couple and Electorate in just a couple more (downvoting spam, and then the spam gets deleted so that does not count to the vote limit). Commented Feb 1, 2025 at 15:27

Yep, everything seems to be working fine (which is why most of these spam posts are gone in less than 5 seconds).

There are more spam posts simply because spammers are spamming more :)

    That means nothing actually. When someone spams, you can vote a question as spammer, and if 5 people do that, the post is removed. There is a system in place that should stop spammers from even posting, so only a handful comes through. I'm actively flagging questions. When I made the post, the volume seemed way more than usual. It has settled down since the post though, which makes me think someone restarted a service or something. Commented Jan 29, 2025 at 14:59
  • @LPChip You can't vote a question as a spammer and nor can a question be a spammer in the first place. You can flag any post as spam though and 4 of those delete it. In addition to SpamRam, whichs stops some spam from entering in the first place, there is also SmokeDetector, which detects spam posts, reports them to a chatroom, and autoflags (providing usually 3 out of 4 needed flags) for posts that are almost certainly spam (including the vast majority of this spam wave). Then of course there are mods and CMs who fight spam who as far as I know are operational. Until I deactivate them :) Commented Jan 29, 2025 at 15:07

  • @Ramhound Have a look in Charcoal HQ, there's been hundreds of spam posts per day. Also, if you can, please sign up for autoflagging (so it will cast flags for you and you don't need to babysit the front page). If you make loose conditions it can flag a ton for you (I've autoflagged 89 spam posts on this site in the past 12 hours alone) Commented Jan 30, 2025 at 12:46
