Transform Cheap Plastic Cauldron into a Stone Planter!

Get started on your fall porch today by transforming a plastic cauldron into a stone planter!

Everything looks so tired and dry after the LONG hot summer, it is so fun to fix it up with beautiful fall flowers and pumpkins. Something I had my eye on at the garden store was this really neat stone cauldron for a potted plant. It was really expensive, so I decided to do without it this year.

Then I found these $0.97 cauldrons at CVS, and I decided to transform them into a planter!

How To Transform Cheap Plastic Cauldron into a Stone Planter

Now I have a stone cauldron for the porch! Here is how you can turn a Plastic Cauldron into a Stone Planter!

Supplies Needed For a DIY Stone Cauldron Planter:

Cheap Plastic Cauldron
Spray Paint (Rustoleum Texture)
Drill (or screwdriver & hammer)

Directions:

Spray with about Two Coats the texture spray until completely covered!
Once it is dried, drill or poke holes in the bottom for good drainage. I poked about five.
Plant a small plant, making sure to add rocks at the bottom. Check out my easy guide for mums, that is what I added to mine!

And now you have a pretty stone planter for your porch!

So clever! Love the stone look spray paint. I had forgotten about that texturing spray, and very appropo for the October/Halloween season! How sturdy is the plastic for handling potted plants… I have regular plastic planters that “dry up” and crack over time. On the other hand, it’s lightweight enough to move around for different sun exposures.

  Thanks Laurie! This plastic holds up very well for plants. In fact, I have had one I re purposed years ago that is still holding strong. The Texas sun does give them a beating, but I always try to keep them out of the heavy afternoon sun. But it is much easier to move around!
