Mathematical Imagery

The Mathematical Art Exhibition at JMM is part of a broader, ongoing commitment to mathematical imagery as a field that explores the deep connections between mathematics and visual expression.

While the 2026 exhibition was presented in conjunction with the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Washington, DC (January 4–7, 2026), the exhibition itself is not defined by a single meeting or location. Curated by Robert Fathauer and Bruce Torrence, the exhibition was established in 2008 through an endowment to the AMS.

By providing a dedicated platform for mathematical imagery, the exhibition highlights the creative intersections between mathematical inquiry and artistic practice.
