  • Our Chief Connected Stores Officer, David McIntosh, took the stage at NVIDIA GTC earlier today to share our vision for Physical AI and why this is pivotal for retailers. Check out more from David below, including Instacart’s vision to leverage our deep experience with online grocery across our in-store technologies to create a continuous learning system.

At his GTC keynote Jensen Huang positioned Physical AI as the next era of AI. I just stepped off-stage at NVIDIA GTC with Azita Martin where we announced several milestones in Instacart’s collaboration with NVIDIA AI deploying Physical AI in retail: 1️⃣ Caper, our Physical-AI powered smart cart, is capturing millions of sensors inputs daily across camera, digital weight, and location sensors to build a game-changing understanding of the physical space - stores, shelves, inventory, item locations, and user behavior in nearly real time 2️⃣ By migrating Instacart’s recommendations workload from CPU to GPU with NVIDIA Dynamo-Triton, we decreased latency for whole page ranking by 65% and item ranking by 40% — and transformer architecture experiments increased click-through on sponsored products  3️⃣ Connected Stores technologies are deployed across thousands of stores and combined with Instacart’s 1.6B+ lifetime grocery orders, and 2B+ item catalog, we’re activating a continuous learning system connecting in-store and online to build a world model for retail Read more on our announcement below
