Alex Behar shared thisVery proud of our 2025 impact report!Alex Behar shared thisWe’re entering one of the largest infrastructure build-outs in decades: AI compute, the grid, and advanced manufacturing—all at once. But the physical build-out is only part of the opportunity. We see a huge opportunity for companies that bring intelligence to physical systems: helping infrastructure use less energy, waste fewer resources, improve reliability, and ultimately deliver better economics. The next generation of climate impact may look a lot like better software for the real world. We’re proud of the Buoyant portfolio companies already creating this impact and building the intelligence layer for the physical world. Check out our 2025 Impact Report in the comments below. Alex Behar shared thisLove to see this Rob Cirincione and Max KanterAlex Behar shared thisExciting news for power traders, risk managers, and energy analysts. We’re thrilled to announce our new data partnership with Grid Status! Navigating today’s power markets isn't getting any easier. Extreme weather events, rapid renewable integration, and surging load growth mean that managing grid risk requires stronger insights. To build winning commercial strategies and mitigate downside risk, you need two things above all: next-gen probabilistic forecasting and uncompromising ground truth. Through this partnership, Sunairio users can now seamlessly access official ISO data directly within our platform and API. What does this mean for your team? 🎯 Streamlined workflows: Evaluate, backtest, and validate trading strategies in a single ecosystem — no more stitching together disparate datasets or doubting historical price accuracy. 📊 Instant validation: Contextualize and benchmark Sunairio’s grid forecasts against official ISO real-time and historical data at scale. 📉 Actionable intelligence: Better navigate power market fundamentals and tail-risk exposure with confidence. As our CEO, Rob Cirincione, put it: “The importance of quality data to serve as ground truth really can’t be underestimated. Sunairio customers can now build end-to-end workflows that train, test, and validate strategies in a single platform that leverages a trusted ISO data provider. No more combining data from different sources, and no more worrying that the historical prices aren’t correct.” Ready to streamline your grid forecasting and backtesting workflows? Alex Behar shared thisVery excited to see this HData and IFS Copperleaf partnership come together. Congrats Hudson Hollister Yuval Lubowich Jeffrey Press Allison Myers "The integration closes a gap utilities have lived with for years: the disconnect between the regulatory and legislative environments that shape capital decisions and the planning systems where those decisions actually get made. With U.S. utilities projected to invest up to a trillion dollars in infrastructure by the end of this decade, under regulatory scrutiny that intensifies every year, that gap is now a strategic liability."Alex Behar shared thisRate cases, commission orders, integrated resource plans, and peer filings should flow into the investment decisions utilities are making, and not surfaced after the fact. HData is partnering with IFS Copperleaf to make that happen. Alex Behar reposted thisAlex Behar reposted thisHow is your grid forecasting handling the "1% of hours" that define the market? Our CEO, Rob Cirincione, recently joined the Currents podcast by Norton Rose Fulbright with host Todd Alexander to discuss a hard truth: traditional weather models are failing the modern power grid. THE REALITY GAP IN POWER GRID FORECASTING 🟣 Extreme statistics: In markets like ERCOT, a third of the annual real-time market value accrues in less than 1% of the hours per year. If you aren’t modeling the extremes, you aren’t modeling the market. 🟣 Resolution matters: Standard forecasts often lack the hourly granularity and site-specific resolution required to accurately predict wind and solar variability. 🟣 The planning problem: Many major utilities still use backward-looking weather assumptions for forward-looking studies, essentially ignoring the impact of a changing climate. "If you shift the distribution a little bit, what you do in some cases exponentially increase the frequency of extremes... going from one problem day to ten problem days—that’s a big deal." — Rob Cirincione 🎧 Listen to the full episode of Currents to hear how we are translating weather & climate risk into grid reality. https://lnkd.in/g2A8TrTn

Alex Behar shared this2026 Prediction #9: Cities at the Forefront of Climate Risk and Innovation 🏛️🌡️ Prediction 9/9 from Buoyant Ventures! Municipalities bear the brunt of climate risk as they pay for disaster relief and face lower revenues as natural disasters impact property prices and taxes – 61% of revenue comes from property taxes according to Pew. The impact on cities is exacerbated by the pullback in federal disaster response funding. For example, Bloomberg reported that FEMA lost a $3.3B pool of funds for helping municipalities rebuild after natural disasters. The silver lining is that the increasing number of natural disasters impacting cities means there is now more clear evidence of the cost, and importantly, the ROI of mitigation efforts. We all know about NIBS’ “theoretical” 6:1 number ($1 invested in mitigation saves $6 in disaster response), but now it is playing out in practice. We think this will catalyze innovation at the city-level, including practical climate technologies like heat mitigation, flood management, water systems, and climate analytics. Let us know your thoughts – which cities are leading the way in implementing climate resilience? Amy Francetic Laura Katzman (Dyer)

Alex Behar shared this2026 Prediction #7: Grid Software Steps in to Solve Speed-to-Power Challenges ⚡🖥️ The power grid is coming under increasing pressure. According to the EIA, 2024 had double the number of outages compared to the average over the previous ten years, and we expect the data for 2025 to be no different. At the same time, interconnection backlog continues with the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab reporting 2,300GW of capacity seeking interconnection and Grid Strategies shows that congestion charges have increased from historical averages around $5B to over $10B in recent years. More is being invested in transmission as a result. S&P Global shows that planned transmission projects increased 25% in 2025 and utilities combined capex was $84.9B. But physical infrastructure will take time to come online. In the meantime, utilities and ISOs will move from piloting grid software to implementing it so that it can be a meaningful part of the solution, buying time for infrastructure to be built. We’ll see solutions that provide dynamic line ratings and flexible interconnection that allow utilities to make the most of the physical infrastructure that already exists. Coming out of DTECH, the potential and excitement for grid software to increase speed-to-power is clear. What barriers will we need to overcome in 2026 to see more adoption? Alex Behar reposted thisAlex Behar reposted thisBuoyant Ventures 2026 Prediction #6 A Major AI Security Incident Rattles Enterprise Customers 🔐🧠🚨 We believe a major security incident is likely, either through a breach at a foundational model provider or a high-profile rogue agent event where an agent exposes information it shouldn’t. This could look like: An agent accidentally leaking sensitive internal documents into logs, vendor workflows, or downstream tools during task execution (for example: copying internal strategy docs into an external ticket or sharing restricted files into a third-party system). A model exposing proprietary customer data, such as API-connected enterprise workflows where data is unintentionally retained, surfaced, or accessed across customers due to misconfiguration or vulnerability like last year's OpenAI bug. A prompt injection attack where an attacker sneaks new instructions into content, so the AI follows the attacker’s instructions instead of the app’s instructions as described. An agent accidentally deletes a large amount of sensitive data in a way that cannot be recovered and must be reported to the market. The rush to “AI-everything” has often bypassed traditional corporate IT protocols, and many enterprises are racing to create suitable policies that can manage risk. When a serious incident happens, we expect a sharp short-term chilling effect on adoption, especially for regulated industries like energy and banking, and increased demand for sovereign AI, on-prem deployments, and auditability. 2026 takeaway: A single visible breach changes buyer behavior. Security becomes a gating function for AI adoption, and the winners are the platforms that level up enterprise quality solutions. What did we miss? Other vulnerabilities that could wreak havoc for enterprise customers? Laura Katzman (Dyer) Alex Behar

Alex Behar reposted thisAlex Behar reposted thisPrediction #5: Robotics Leave Pilot Mode 🤖📦 In 2026, we expect robotics adoption to move out of pilot mode and into real production across more verticals. This shift is driven by labor constraints and platform maturity. Amazon has spent over a decade deploying 1M+ robots into production, and Uber’s planned robotaxi launches in 2026 signal that robotics is crossing from innovation projects into infrastructure. As deployments scale, architectures are changing too. More systems are relying on local inference and edge computing to reduce latency and enable real-time robotic execution. This shift is what makes robotics reliable at scale. What we don’t expect is mass labor displacement. Curious where you disagree 👇 Where do you think robotics adoption accelerates first? Alex Behar reacted on thisAlex Behar reacted on thisI spent the past few days at Yotta talking AI infrastructure. Three things stuck with me. 1. AI demand doesn't behave like any load we've seen before. Compute Heat Rate estimates the electricity price at which running AI workloads stops being profitable. The framework puts AI's blended tolerance at >100x the conventional gas heat rate benchmark. If AI won't flex on price, flexibility has to come from somewhere else. 2. Speed is the product, and also the problem. Ask what has changed most with data center development and the answer is timeline pressure. Every month a site sits in design, permitting, or procurement is lost revenue, creating enormous pressure to automate everything between land, power, permitting, and a shovel in the ground. But that same timeline pressure is contributing to community pushback. Data center development used to involve earlier community engagement. Today, compressed timelines and closed-door deals can create distrust that ultimately leads to delays. Moving faster isn't always faster. 3. Enterprise AI is becoming a routing problem. The emerging enterprise architecture is hybrid - a central gateway determines whether each request (or turn) goes to an on-prem / open-weight model or a third-party frontier model. This mapping is a new required skillset. One line stuck with me: don't outsource judgment to frontier models, outsource execution. Routing is something we've been digging into at Buoyant, with more to come soon. The mood at Yotta was overwhelmingly bullish. But I can't help but think that planning 5–10 years out requires stress-testing what happens if demand doesn't only go up. Being bullish on AI and planning for a slowdown should not be contradictory. Power as a limiting factor to AI growth is well accepted. After this conference, I would add time and trust to that list. At Buoyant Ventures, we back software that makes compute more efficient. If you're building in this space, I'd love to hear from you.

Alex Behar reacted on thisAlex Behar reacted on thisNew York Climate Week was (and always is) a whirlwind of amazing events, connection, and conversation. A few takeaways from a week spent talking about AI and the grid, and what it takes to build at scale: ⚡ The energy industry is moving faster, but data silos remain a problem. At the Future Grids breakfast that Powerhouse Ventures co-hosted with DNV Ventures, Buoyant Ventures, and Startuplab, workshop groups covered everything from capacity to robotics to VPPs. Pilots that once took utilities six months to greenlight are now turning around in 36 hours, but building the trust and culture to match that speed remains the harder challenge. One problem at the forefront of discussion: data is siloed, unverified, and hard to route into real workflows without breaking bandwidth or security constraints. 👩🏭 We need transmission and workforce investments in addition to power generation. At the Nest Campus, Powerhouse Ventures Partner Marie Thompson joined ThinkLabs AI CEO Josh Wong and TerraPower President and CEO Christopher Levesque for a conversation on what AI can and can't solve for the grid. AI is generating massive amounts of electricity demand and accelerating innovation inside utilities, but meeting that demand requires investment in transmission and workforce development, not just power generation. 🏛️ Policy still has to catch up to the moment. Powerhouse Innovation Senior Director of Technology and Client Services, Octavi Semonin, joined a panel hosted by the Cisco Foundation alongside Elias Habbar-Baylac at Cisco, Adam Sledd at Dominion Energy Innovation Center, and Camilo Upegui Londoño at ISA Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. E.S.P. on moving grid solutions from pilots to real deployment. The regulatory-focused conversation centered on performance-based incentives, transmission buildout, and how utilities adapt to accommodate 1,000+ GW of new U.S. capacity by 2050. Our team also had a great time hosting friends, portfolio companies, and Limited Partners for coffee this morning to close out the week. Another New York Climate Week in the books! Problem: How do you consolidate a $600 billion fragmented home services industry when every acquisition increases operational complexity? Most people think home services consolidation is "buy more companies, hope for synergies." WRONG. Peter Connolly and Andrew Hollod at Cobepa solved this by building PLATFORMS, not portfolios. Here's what they did differently: Heartland Home Services (December 2020): Andrew Hollod led the investment - assembled a platform of recognized brands across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Wisconsin. Ned Stevens (November 2022): Peter Connolly and Andrew Hollod co-led - acquired from AVALT, rebranded to Ned's Home, expanded from single-service (gutter cleaning) to full exterior home services. The pattern most miss: They didn't just buy companies. They bought INFRASTRUCTURE that could absorb future acquisitions systematically. What separates their approach: Board representation ensuring operational oversight Geographic density strategy - dominate regions before expanding Service expansion within existing customer base (Ned's rebrand proves this) The arbitrage: Most PE firms acquire home services companies at market multiples hoping organic growth and cost cuts get them to a decent exit. Peter and Andrew built platforms that acquire at below-market multiples, integrate systematically, cross-sell services, and exit at exponentially higher multiples because they're not selling a collection of companies - they're selling a MACHINE. This is the difference between buying revenue and building enterprise value. But here's what's missing: You've built the acquisition machine. You've built the platform infrastructure. But without WORLD-CLASS customer acquisition systems and lifetime value expansion, you're leaving massive exit value on the table. Peter Connolly, Andrew Hollod - let me run the customer acquisition systems for your platforms. Not manage. RUN. Heartland and Ned's Home have the service expansion infrastructure. What they need is the tracking infrastructure that turns: First-time gutter cleaning customer → power washing → window cleaning → lawn treatment subscriber $200 transaction → $2,400 lifetime value with complete revenue attribution Ad spend optimization based on ACTUAL customer acquisition costs and lifetime value, not clicks I'll build the systems that maximize customer lifetime value across your entire service stack and prove which acquisition channels are actually driving profitable growth at scale. You built platforms that can absorb acquisitions. I build the engines that transform market-multiple businesses into exponentially higher-value exits. Peter Connolly Andrew Hollod Jean-Marie Laurent Josi Let's Speak.

This headline is not a warning for retail investors in my view. Redemptions were paid in full. But a warning for asset managers with alt products for retail that individual investors are more volatile (and that volatility can be contagious towards institutional investors). We often talk about retail investors having to better understand the liquidity risk, but the same can be said about managers who are more familiar with institutional products having to make sure they understand the retail ecosystem well to ensure their retail platforms remain accretive to their overall strategy.

Can fundraising teams detect a stalled process before silence becomes the strategy? The forwardable lesson is that long sales cycles need an early-warning layer, not simply more activity at the top of the funnel. The system is designed to recommend action, not merely record that progress slowed. The Long Cycle RAISE combines mandate scoring, allocation signals, trigger detection and pipeline intelligence to surface issues earlier. The Warning Layer The workflow can track investor stage, relationship activity, soft commitments, hard commitments and risks around the target process. The Waiting Problem The company is addressing a process that managers already understand and repeatedly need to solve. RAISE is raising capital and looking for investors. See company website https://raiseplatform.eu and then DM me for more info. Is faster feedback more valuable than faster outreach in institutional fundraising?

Every major PE firm just reassured investors the same way: "We've been focused on AI disruption risks for years. Our software portfolios are defensible." But here's what none of them said: "Here's the system where that assessment lives." This week exposed a pattern across institutional capital: firms manage financial capital with audit-grade systems of record, but the reasoning behind capital allocation decisions has no infrastructure at all. When investment committees underwrote software companies in 2024-2025, someone applied specific criteria to assess AI disruption risk. Where does that reasoning live today? Not in retrievable systems. In IC notes, email threads, and institutional memory that walks out when people leave. KBRA data: 17% of private credit borrowers are software companies, representing 22% of $1T+ debt exposure. Those allocation decisions were made using judgment that has no durable record. When LPs ask "walk us through your 2025-2026 AI risk framework"—and they will—most firms will reconstruct from memory, not retrieve from systems. The firms that weather disruption aren't just making smart calls. They're capturing why those calls were made. Financial capital has balance sheets. Physical capital has asset registers. Judgment capital—the reasoning governing trillions in allocations—has no infrastructure. Three questions for anyone managing institutional capital: If regulators asked for decision criteria behind your five largest 2024 allocations, how long would it take to produce them? Has this week exposed how much risk assessment lives in heads versus systems? When your senior underwriting partner leaves, what reasoning travels with them? The category being defined here is Judgment Capital Management—a system of record for the third balance sheet. #PrivateEquity #PrivateCredit #InstitutionalCapital #RiskManagement

One takeaway from GoVCLab’s piece on emerging VC deal sourcing: strong dealflow isn’t luck it’s built. In NYC, the best pre-seed opportunities don’t come from cold inbound. They come from being in the rooms, building real relationships, and being clear about your thesis. As I focus on founders in early stage tech , I’m realizing sourcing is really about trust. The more value you add and the more consistent you are, the more the right deals find you. Curious what’s worked for others building early-stage pipelines in NYC. https://lnkd.in/eNCEjXqx

I’m stepping more directly into interim and operating CFO work. Over the past decade, I’ve consistently been brought into sponsor-backed and growth-stage platforms at inflection points — acquisitions, liquidity pressure, lender negotiations, audit remediation, capital raises, or operational scale. I build institutional-grade financial infrastructure fast. That means: • Liquidity visibility and covenant discipline • Clean audits and lender credibility • Transaction-ready reporting (QoE, data rooms, integrations) • Repeatable forecasting and KPI frameworks I work where capital and operations intersect — ensuring companies are positioned to access funding, execute deals, and scale without losing financial control. I’m open to select interim and fractional CFO mandates where execution speed and clarity matter. If you’re a sponsor, CEO, or investment partner navigating one of those moments, let’s connect. — Ken Anthony Stanford MBA | CPA | Growth Infrastructure CFO
