Apolo Ohno shared thisOne life!!!Apolo Ohno shared thisA great way to spend part of today at Allstate’s Culture & Experience Conference, joining my colleague Ricky Taranda for a fun and impactful fireside chat with Olympic legend Apolo Ohno about winning teams and a winning mindset. So many great takeaways, but two really stuck with me: 🏅 Success is rarely an individual accomplishment. The best results happen when a team is working fully in sync toward a shared goal. 🏅 High expectations require high support. If we’re going to ask people to perform at their best, we also need to make sure they have the support system to get there. As both a former athlete and a leader, both of those lessons really resonated with me. Grateful for the conversation and the reminder that winning is always a team effort.

Apolo Ohno shared thisOne life. Few more months remaining in this 2026 year. Take the task seriously, but learn to laugh at it all. Talk to yourself in the ways that are beneficial. If you were to design a strong, powerful human = you would not gift an easy life. If you wanted to create a human with immense patience, you’d probably not give them everything instantly. If you wanted this human to lead and walk with kings, but never lose the common touch? You’d design this human to embrace teams, people, but hold immensely high expectations for themselves.

Apolo Ohno shared thisLosing is a teacher disguised as pain. Winning mostly teaches you what you already knew. A loss shows you what's broken. A win lets you ignore it. Losing is expensive tuition. Most people pay it and skip class. Everyone says learn from your losses. Almost nobody interrogates their wins. Results lie. Sometimes you win with a flawed process. Sometimes you lose seemingly doing everything right. So audit after every result, and audit hardest after you win, because that's when you won't want to. 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹. Apolo Ohno shared thisChampion mindset: REPETITION IS THE MOTHER OF SKILL Do so many reps that failing becomes statistically unreasonable & unlikely. Study every win like it's racing film/tape, identifying what made the win a win & differentiated from the failures/losses. Visualization is your pre-game practice ritual to see it happen in real time, over and over and over again. Then run that thing again & again, until it feels absurd & significantly more than necessary. Only then will we have reached the "Zero Regrets" mentality towards mastery. Oh what a game! Have an amazing weekend! --AAO

Apolo Ohno shared this9/11. I decided to fly today, LA to NYC. A day I will never forget. I'm traveling w/ a friend who has never been to the USA, & spent the morning explaining why this day is so heavy for our country 25 years later. 343 New York firefighters walked into two burning buildings & climbed the stairs while many were rushing down. They knew what they were walking into & they went anyway. On Flight 93 the passengers learned by phone what had happened to the other planes. Everyday people did the impossible, stormed the cockpit & forced the plane into an empty field in Pennsylvania instead of the US Capitol. Todd Beamer was heard saying "Let's roll" before they charged. Everyone on board died. Most people outside the US never heard this one: w/ the bridges & tunnels shut, roughly 150 boats turned toward the burning skyline & carried close to 500,000 people off Manhattan in under 9 hours. Bigger than Dunkirk, & they did it bc that's what we do in a crisis. Welles Crowther, a 24 year old equities trader, was already safe. He tied a red bandana over his face, went back into the smoke of the South Tower 3 times & carried injured strangers out. At least a dozen people are alive bc of him. He died when the tower came down. 5 months later I raced my first Olympics in Salt Lake City w/ a red bandana tied around my head. I did not carry anyone out nor was I in that horror... His was tied over his mouth so he could breathe long enough to go back in one more time, mine to keep the sweat out of my eyes. Same color, about as different a reason as it gets, & all these years later I still feel eerily connected to someone I never met. I was 19 & we felt that representing the US was so much bigger than us. At the opening ceremony that February, 8 athletes carried in a flag pulled from the rubble at Ground Zero, too fragile to raise. So they just held it, all of them together, while the choir sang the anthem, & the stadium went silent in a way I have never heard before. We raced, represented, & wore that flag as proud & stood as tall as we could. This was OUR Games. I wrote last year that time erodes memory. What I wanted my friend to understand today was less the loss than the proof. Firefighters, a trader, 40 passengers & crew, 800 mariners, 8 athletes holding a torn piece of cloth. None of them were thought of as special before, & they decided, right there, that strangers were worth it. That selflessness was something to fight for - to help, no matter the ultimate sacrifice. Unbelievable strength, unity, & a reminder of what we are capable of when all seems lost. The question I sit with every year is whether that version of us is still in there. I think it is. To the ones we lost, & the ones who ran toward it - we remember, forever. May we keep teaching the next generation what we do when there is no light at the end of the tunnel - we never give up, we grab that bandana, we reach out that hand. In memory - Forever. --AAO

Apolo Ohno shared thisI wrote this pre-ai & I want to repost this again. I’ve many more thoughts and heaviness today. I choose to remember and gather reminders of how precious life is, how powerful we as humans can be at our lowest, & that we will always rise again. I am forever in awe of the absolute selflessness that existed on this day and countless humans who gave themselves in the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you, forever.

Apolo Ohno shared thisThis morning I sat with a room full of elite performers responsible for billions in sales. Already at the top of the board. And the question wasn't how to win. It was how to stay hungry when you already have. Here's a bit of what we talked about: There's a difference between deciding and committing. A decision says "I will try." Commitment says "The person I was before this decision no longer gets a vote." One keeps the door wide open. The other stops looking behind it. Eliminating the internal negotiation with yourself. Most of us want a new level of performance while secretly preserving the old one. A way back. An excuse. A comfortable retreat in case becoming someone new gets too painful. That's normal. It's also why so many talented people never touch their potential. Parts of them never actually changed. The ship behind you metaphorically does something dangerous. Every time this new you hurts, the new path, the new tech, the new way of doing the job, you remember retreat is possible. And suddenly half your operating strength goes to deciding whether to continue. An open escape route becomes a negotiation w/ every hard day. I'm not talking about being reckless. Some decisions should stay reversible. Some roads deserve retreat & experience & wisdom know the difference. But as I wrote in my book Hard Pivot - sometimes the ship isn't a place. It's an identity. The person you become when you're scared. The habit you always go back to. The excuse that has forgiven you for years. The old version of you that is always waiting for your discipline to weaken. Some futures require you to stop keeping your former self alive as an emergency exit. To become one person, you have to stop rescuing the person you decided to leave behind. The obstacle and fear and uncertainty will never truly go away permanently. The only thing that changes is the question that we ask: It stops being "should I continue." It becomes "how will I continue." If you're that sure, burn the ship. Final sprint towards 2027. Let's get it! --AAO

Apolo Ohno liked thisApolo Ohno liked thisLast week in New York, we gathered 200+ execs leading their industries across technology, finance, media, sports, and space for our 2026 Women's Executive Forum. The day's throughline: as AI reshapes how organizations work, the leadership skills that matter most are distinctly human – judgment, trust, and the ability to bring people through change rather than around it. Two honorees embodied that idea directly. Maria Black, President & CEO of ADP, one of the most established names in HR technology, received our Category Leadership Award for three decades of leadership at scale. May Habib, Co-Founder & CEO of WRITER, valued at nearly $2 billion, received our inaugural Founder's Leadership Award for the conviction it takes to build at the speed of AI. Apolo Ohno liked thisIn 2018 when my friends all decided to pursue their MBA's, I decided to make crypto my MBA. The bet was simple: that blockchain tech could drive a binary outcome and disrupt the current financial tech stack. So I started building institutional grade infrastructure for tradfi to come on chain. A lot of cycles have happened since then but crypto / digital assets are now a core part of the agenda worldwide. Now that the foundations have been set, I'm looking towards what's next -- and what stands out is building the rails for global financial inclusion. What would it take to bring the next billions of users on-chain? What would it take to unlock the next trillions of assets to those users? I believe BNB Chain is best positioned to become global financial infrastructure and bridge users to capital. I'm thrilled to help lead the next leg of this journey and play a part in driving the freedom of money. Still here. Still early.Apolo Ohno liked thisBNB Chain is already home to one of the largest user bases in crypto with rapid growth across stablecoins and RWAs. Apolo Ohno liked thisApolo Ohno liked thisEvery week I spend time on site with our customers. And every week, I see the same thing: binders, spreadsheets, and sticky notes scattered across their desks. It's a constant reminder of how much work is still left to do in healthcare, and it's exactly why Jeffery L. and I started Assort Health. When patient and care team context lives across fragile tools, patients repeat their story for the third time, staff spend their day chasing down information, and getting care is harder than it should be. The San Francisco Business Times sat down with me to talk about why we built Assort, what it actually took to get AI agents working in the messy reality of healthcare, and why I believe the right kind of AI makes care more human, not less. Three years in, we’ve raised a $120M Series C and built a team nearing 300 people. That team is expanding what our AI can do across patient access. They’re building security into every layer because patient information leaves no room for shortcuts. And our agent experts and FDEs are on site, solving problems alongside the customers who encounter them every day. I'm proud of those milestones. I’m even more proud that everyone at Assort has chosen to spend their time on a problem most of us have experienced firsthand: trying to navigate the healthcare system. Thank you Hannah Kanik and San Francisco Business Times for telling this story, and to the whole Assort Health team for building it with me.
