Modernizing #nationalsecurity requires strong ecosystem partnerships, and #2F continues to lead the way in bridging commercial innovation with mission execution. I recently sat down with Tyler Sweatt on the All Quiet on the Second Front Podcast for an episode titled "The Mission Shouldn't Run on Luck." When the mission, operational readiness, and strategic advantage are on the line, hope is not a strategy—and luck should never replace a solid operational framework. Tyler and I covered a lot of ground, but one core takeaway stands out for the entire industry: 💡 The future of enterprise AI isn't purely probabilistic, nor is it purely deterministic—it is the intentional blend of both. In #nationalsecurity, you cannot rely solely on probabilistic LLMs that introduce variance into mission-critical decisions. Nor can you rely entirely on traditional rules-based software logic with its inherent rigidity to rapid adaptation in dynamic situations. True decision superiority happens when you layer probabilistic AI reasoning on top of a deterministic backbone: trusted data, strict policy guardrails, and repeatable enterprise workflows with humans "on the loop." Key Takeaways on Operationalizing This Shift: ▶️ Predictability Over Chance: Mission success requires resilient, repeatable infrastructure. Bill Pessin shared thisIt is one thing to discuss national security from a boardroom; it is another entirely to witness it from the flight deck of an active nuclear aircraft carrier. I was honored by an invitation from Admiral Koehler, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, to participate in the Navy’s Distinguished Visitor (DV) Embark Remain Overnight (RON) program. This experience brought me directly onto an active U.S. Navy warship to witness 24/7 operations firsthand. The DV Embark program bridges the gap between civilian leaders and the frontline mission, fostering a powerful connection between our communities and the Fleet to show how the Navy maintains global security, protects vital sea lanes, and projects strength worldwide. Flying out of MCBH on a Navy CMV-22B Osprey, we landed directly onto the flight deck of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) during RIMPAC 2026—the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise. To truly experience life at sea, I also ate alongside the crew in the mess decks and slept onboard. Reflecting on this unforgettable trip, three things stood out above all else: 1. Unmatched Professionalism: Every service member exemplified true leadership and commitment to mission. Hearing the ship’s XO and CMC speak with profound gratitude for their sailors set a powerful tone, mirrored by every sailor we met throughout the embark. 2. The Intersection of Tech & Talent: True power projection comes from advanced technology paired with trained, motivated, and well-led service members. Watching F/A-18 Super Hornets catapult off the deck and execute flawless arrested night landings was awe-inspiring. Even more impressive was the absolute discipline of the crew keeping those complex, 24/7 operations flowing. 3. A Shared Bond: I was deeply moved by the passion and patriotism of my fellow DV Embark crew members. As the only non-Hawai'i resident in a group of otherwise local leaders, it was inspiring to see how closely bonded my peers are to the mission through the shared community in which they live and support our military. I am incredibly grateful for this experience. Walking away, I have an even deeper appreciation for our Navy—and a renewed sense of urgency for our work at Missionforce National Security. VSCOS has a critical mission – supporting global readiness for the Air Force by ensuring warfighters have the right vehicles when and where they need them. But, their old system could go down for days at a time. They needed a new, scalable, and authorized platform to oversee assets and support personnel without mission downtime. With Missionforce National Security, VSCOS now has a real-time mission view with enterprise-level management and distribution capabilities to support global mission needs. It’s a masterclass example of how a lean, mission-focused team can drive real global impact. Bill Pessin shared thisWhen I was a young U.S. Army officer, navigating operations meant dealing with paper maps, fragmented systems, and the inevitable friction between a high-level plan and the reality on the ground. Decades later, the technology has changed dramatically, but that fundamental challenge—bridging the gap between plans, tech, and the people executing the mission—remains exactly the same. I recently joined Jonathan Panter on the #CogsOfWar podcast by War on the Rocks to discuss how military organizations can safely and accountably navigate this new era of Agentic AI. Since then, the public sector has become Salesforce’s fastest-growing industry business at scale, with its defense sector business growing 80% year over year as demand accelerates. Today, Salesforce supports some of the government’s most complex and consequential missions across more than 30 countries, 60 U.S. federal agencies, all 15 U.S. Cabinet departments, all 50 states, and all six branches of the U.S. military. The team's incredible work over many years has expanded to another level: - The U.S. Army awarded us a 10-year, $5.6B IDIQ to expand Missionforce across the Army and Department of Wa - Army HRC is deploying AI-powered support for 9.2 million soldiers, veterans, civilian staff, and military families - USDOT is unifying 10+ systems on one platform to power citizen services and transportation safety And now with OpenAI and NVIDIA we are going even further. HESFP, Cherokee Federal’s team of Salesforce experts, spent the week connecting with agency leaders, Salesforce Public Sector teams and industry partners around a shared priority: helping government move faster without compromising the security, compliance and trust federal missions demand. A few takeaways from #DF26: 1. AI is moving from possibility to deployment.
