Blake Haggerty shared thisHonorary C1rew! Great partners on this journey!Blake Haggerty shared thisWe are still riding the high from the C1 San Francisco HQ opening party! Blake Haggerty and Jenni Capurro are an amazing team! Charlie Cutler and I have had the pleasure of moving C1 from 2ksf to 5ksf to 17ksf! This location at 620 Folsom takes the team back to where all the magic started in their former Rackspace office. So the nostalgia is real! The party was electric, let the good times roll! Alex Bovee and his team are building something incredible but the best part is they’re hands down the kindest and coolest humans we could ever represent! C1 to the moon! 🚀💥

Blake Haggerty reposted thisWe're hiring incredible product marketers, engineers, sales people, and SDRs in SF. We work 3-4 days a week in the office. We have a collaborative, high agency, GSD culture. If you want to work elbow to elbow with some of the most talented folks in SF and the AI ecosystem... and in a sick office, send me a message!! https://lnkd.in/gMb6UWQN

Blake Haggerty shared thisToday, C1 is announcing support for enterprise-managed authorization (EMA). As Anthropic ships the first implementation into Claude, C1 issues the tokens for it, day one. This is how an enterprise puts AI in front of every employee and governs it from the start. Users authenticate once to C1, then get SSO-like access to every compatible MCP server. For the apps that don't support the standard, the C1 Access Gateway covers them with the same policy and the same audit trail. No architecture trade-offs. Blake Haggerty reposted thisBlake Haggerty reposted thisIf you joined one of these companies 12 months ago and received equity, you should consider quitting. Why? Because your new hire equity grant will be the largest grant you receive. And your equity value was determined by a stock price before the market cut it in half. Refresh programs are designed to smooth volatility, not offset a 50% drawdown. And there isn’t a compensation team on earth that can fix what the market just did to SaaS companies.

Blake Haggerty reposted thisBlake Haggerty reposted thisI am going to finally say it. Founder-led hiring alone won't scale, and holding onto it too long actually hurts your company. In our early days, hiring was 100% founder-run. Ishan and I personally handled every step first calls, case studies, final on-sites. We’d spend 6–8 hours per candidate, getting to know them deeply. At that stage, it was the right call. These were the first people on the team. We worked with them every day, and a single bad hire could derail everything. But as the company grew, this process quietly became a bottleneck. Over the last year, we made a deliberate shift away from fully founder-led interviews. We brought in our founding recruiter, Farron, to run initial screens, while functional interviews are now owned by team members in engineering and sales functions. Ishan and I usually only step in during the final round. This change allowed us to run dozens of final-round interviews every month without compromising quality. As more people got involved, we invested heavily in interview training, coaching, and aligning on what “the bar” actually means. Turning instinctive founder judgment into a shared standard took work across Juicebox. The lesson for us has been that founder involvement is critical early on, but scaling hiring means turning judgment into process that doesn't lower the bar.

Trust is becoming the deciding factor in how companies buy software, and Vanta is building the platform that makes proving it possible. A huge thank you to Rae Hoffman and the entire team for their support throughout the process. Excited for what's ahead!

Blake Haggerty reacted on thisWe have ample evidence that AI can dramatically increase software _velocity_, but what happens when we have AI focus on dramatically increasing software _quality_? Dan Robinson and [excellent] team at Detail are announcing what they've built today... have a look below. PS: full disclosure that I'm a small angel investor in this one, but I'm only posting because I'm excited about what they're up to :)Blake Haggerty reacted on thisEight months ago we launched a bug finder that you could run once a month. Today we're launching Self Healing for your codebase. Try it out, first week is free and it takes <5 mins to get started: detail/.dev We will find some bugs and fix them for you. The most important thing to understand about this problem is: finding bugs is easy, picking bugs that matter is hard. You can point your agent of choice at any codebase and find hundreds of bugs, probably thousands. The problem is that most of them are so unimportant they aren't even worth reading, let alone fixing. We solve this by tracking which bugs get fixed fast, vs which don't, and optimizing against that signal. Our system learns factors like: how severe is the bug? is it security-relevant? how active is the code area? is this code user-facing? is the end user trusted? what kinds of bugs does this team typically care about? what kind of company is this? do they operate in a regulated space? and so on. Eight months and 100k bugs later, we have an always-on always-learning codebase fracker that finds bugs and fixes them for you. Within a few months you'll have hundreds of bugs hunted down and squashed. Top eng teams are fixing hundreds of bugs this way: Profound, OpenRouter, Orb, Polar, and many more. The same factors apply to a lot of the other work that's required to keep your codebase easy to work with: cleaning up dead code, decomposing repeated logic into reusable codepaths, maintaining the READMEs and skills that drive your agents. They can all happen out-of-band, but you need to do them in a way that minimizes the attention you're asking for from an engineering team. This is all an extremely token-intensive workload, so along the way we've rebuilt the agent stack to make it economical. We built a custom sandbox provider for interruptible long-running agents that's 5x cheaper than any sandbox provider we've seen. We use an inference speculator that lets us drive our agent for 40x cheaper than even Sonnet. Our workload is latency-insensitive, which means we can reorient everything in our stack to unlock new efficiencies: slower tokens, multi-region spot compute, heavy overcommit. We think the future is self-healing codebases. The good ideas still come from human engineers: killer features, killer architecture to simplify implementation, that kind of thing. But a lot of low-level work is still necessary to ship good software and keep codebases sane, and agents should be doing it for us. We think this is the first step towards helping engineering teams navigate to a future where agents do much, much more of the work. We're post-tokenmaxxing but what are we pre-? More to come on that. For now: try it out, let us know what you think!

Blake Haggerty liked thisBlake Haggerty liked thisWe've been using Postgres at C1 since the beginning. Anyone whose scaled anything knows that you get the opportunity to find every edge case of your systems when you try to go from Gigabytes to infinity and beyond. Ian Eustis and I found one such edge case in Postgres recently and I wanted to do a writeup of it. If you're struggling with query planner underestimation you might want to check how many IS NULL clauses you have in your query ;) https://lnkd.in/g8DMj5XN

Blake Haggerty liked thisBlake Haggerty liked thisExcited to share that I'm joining C1 as their CRO. I'm thrilled to be joining Alex Bovee, Paul Querna, and the rest of the Crew on this journey to secure the agentic workforce. C1 powers the transition to the agentic enterprise with secure access for humans and agents. As the universal identity control plane, C1 governs every human, AI agent, and non-human identity across every system you run. I would like to send a huge thank you to my colleagues and friends at Halcyon for the great years and everything we built together. Special thanks to Jeff Williams, Enrique Salem, Ryan Smith, David Bonvillain, Aaron Mick, Jon Miller, Kelly Fiedler, Kris Lamb,...and so many more.

Blake Haggerty liked this154 apps in 2 days. A customer recently went live with C1 and went completely ham using our C1 AI on-boarding agent, out of the box integrations, and AI connector builder.... and setup 154 apps in 2 days. This was a moment for me. The moment where C1 winning based on our first principles was an inevitability. Wind it back: when we started C1 - one of the first principles of our business was that we wanted to accelerate time to value through an opinionated product and integrations that "just worked". There were so many horror stories of long drawn out implementations and shelf ware with the governance and identity platforms. It was the norm for the industry and for some reason was generally accepted as just the way things had to be. We've changed the game completely with our agentic integration platform, C1 AI, and 500+ out of the box connectors. It makes setting up your tenant dead simple. It's impossible to compete against that kind of time to value. It's not 2x better or 5x better, it's 100x better. Legacy identity software is cooked.

Couldn't be more excited to drop another big time episode of the vibescaling podcast with one of the most legendary GTM leaders of all time. Enter Ghazi Masood - CRO of Replit; former CRO & VPS at places like Retool, Auth0, Oracle, Microsoft, and so many others. Ghazi is one of the most respected GTM leaders in the developer tooling and technical products space - it was fun to dive into his philosophy on hiring nontraditional sellers, why most companies staff for aspiration instead of demand, and how the AI era is fundamentally changing the way enterprise sales orgs are built. Some fun topics Chris Balestras & Ghazi covered: 1. Why Replit's #1 seller closed $3.5M and had never sold a day in his life - and what that actually means for how AI companies should hire 2. The founder mistake he sees over and over: hiring a VP of Sales too early 3. Why distribution is the new moat (not technology) - and what that means for how you build a GTM org in 2025 4. The "panel presentation" interview format and why Ghazi makes every candidate show what they've built in Replit before they get the job Carve out time this weekend to watch this episode if you're in GTM or a Founder - it's one of the best I've watched this year.
