Chris Hoyle posted thisHow do I get on Meta, TikTok, X, or LinkedIn without closing the app feeling: – wildly behind – mildly ashamed – and convinced I need 5 extra hours a day to be a better husband, dad, leader, and marketer? Is there a way to be on these platforms without just watching videos of someone impersonating Claire Danes? I knew I had to figure this out, so here’s what’s worked for me to use business social media without feeling completely defeated: 1. Be brutally clear on your business goals and what matters If I see a video on “5 ways to grow your email list” and email isn’t a priority, I just say: not for me and keep scrolling. Early in my marketing career, I watched everything and assumed I needed to try everything. Once I had clear personal and business growth goals, it became much easier to let good ideas go—and not feel guilty about it. 2. Have a learning plan (don’t outsource it to the algorithm) When I understood which parts of digital marketing actually drove our business, I wrote them down and prioritized where my learning gaps were. Then I intentionally sought out content on those topics instead of passively consuming whatever the internet decided I “should” care about that day. I found newsletters or substacks from people I trusted and didn’t let the algorithm get me worked up. I followed the brightest minds in different areas and it accelerated my knowledge and effectiveness more quickly. Here’s the thing: The world will always tell you you’re behind. That you’re not doing enough. That you need another tool, tactic, or third-party agency to catch up. But clarity is a cheat code. When you know what you’re about and what actually matters to your business, it gets a lot easier to say no—and feel good about the progress you are making.

Chris Hoyle posted thisI want to be more happy and I bet you do too! In an Arthur Brooks' newsletter he challenges the reader to give an idea away as a way of being more happy so I want to give it a try. Here is the single piece of advice I have given to my kids and younger teammates most often on how they can be successful in their areas of interest. Be undeniable. Be so good at what you do that everyone has to take notice. I have been around youth sports over the last decade and it's the thing I wish more parents told their kid instead of complaining to the coach about playing time. If you are undeniably good at what you are doing then coaches/bosses have to take notice at your production and you will get where you want to go. What is one idea you want to share that will help you be happier? Here's a prompt in case you're not sure what to say. What do you think a 48 year old marketer in Oklahoma needs to hear if he's going to be undeniable? (a lot!) Can't wait for the happiness to get unleashed.

Chris Hoyle shared thisGreat insights here Soma Toth!!Chris Hoyle shared this69% of top Shopify brands run a welcome popup offer. But does it generate incremental revenue? We ran dozens of high-scale tests on this, involving some of the best (and most skeptical) data people in DTC: Bryan Cano and Jonathan Tsao of True Classic Johnny Hickey of perfectwhitetee Chris Hoyle of Simple Modern Since running these can be tricky, tests often involve 3rd party tracking like Drew Marconi 💎/Intelligems or Noam Szpiro/Monocle. Results very in the range of no revenue impact to heavily positive revenue impact. We are yet to find a single case where a welcome popup had negative impact on revenue per visitor. If you want to learn how to run this test yourself - find my article in the comments.

Last night we became the first agency from San Diego to ever win an AdAge Small Agency of the year award and we did it in the heavyweight division of 71-150 employees in the West. I remember a decade ago dreaming with Adam Wagner about the future and wondering if we would ever be able to break out of the local market to work with national brands. So today just feels absolutely surreal. Three brands built to $1B in value, three Super Bowl campaigns, and the #1 rated agency in P&G Globally for 2026… and I know we are just getting started. Thank you Ad Age for the honor, Steve Sapka for your wisdom and guidance, our newly minted Creative Chairman Rob Strasberg for your mentorship the last few years… and every single Raindropper present and anyone who has been part of this journey. Chris Hoyle liked thisChris Hoyle liked thisIf we say we exist to give generously, what does that actually require of us? It's easy for a mission statement to become something you talk about. It's much harder to build a company that acts on it. For us, that means more than donations. It means looking for opportunities to support people who are making a meaningful difference in their communities. Teachers are at the top of that list. Not because they expect recognition. Most of them don't. But because they're shaping the future, one student at a time, often with limited resources and very little fanfare. That's why, three years ago, we launched Stock Your School. Each year, communities across the country nominate deserving educators. Then those communities rally behind them — not just to help them win, but to celebrate the educators who have invested so much in their students. This year, 10 schools will receive: • A classroom wish list fulfilled • Simple Modern water bottles for every student at the school • Getaway Bags for for all the school’s teachers • A $1,000 grant for their school Those prizes are meaningful. But they're not really the point. What makes this campaign special is watching entire communities stop for a moment to say, "We see you. Thank you." It gives communities a chance to rally around the educators who have invested so much in others. We want our mission to be something people experience, not just something they read on our website. Nominations close tomorrow, and voting begins Monday. If there's a teacher who's made a difference in your life, or in the life of your child, I hope you'll take a few seconds to nominate them today. Go to https://lnkd.in/e8Cghk2a to nominate. Then come back Monday and help your community rally around them. Generosity isn't always about giving more. Sometimes it's about pouring into the people who spend their lives pouring into others.

Yoobi, Goody Products, Inc., Wet brush & Case-Mate 😍 When Wild launched into the US, we knew we wanted to partner with a brand that truly resonated with the American market. There was one brand at the very top of our wish list: LoveShackFancy and we were on a mission to make it happen. 🎀 Like any dream partnership, it took a little persistence to get on their radar..DMs, LinkedIn messages, emails… I even got my boyfriend into a LoveShackFancy store to help me create content in the hope of catching their attention. 😅 Then one evening, Stacy Lilien replied and said she'd love to set up a call. What started as an ambitious idea- a UK brand that had only just launched in the US hoping to collaborate with one of the most-loved brands in America- has become one of the launches I’m most proud of the team for. A huge thank you to the team at LoveShackFancy for being such a dream partner Jaime Feldman Annie Taube Clara Hong Brianna Halpern Olivia Wallace Erin Schaut Rina Stone. And Joshua Fray - an absolute creative powerhouse who brought it all together- for tag-teaming this launch every step of the way. Partner in crime! Tariffs, inflation and shifting consumer habits are creating renewed uncertainty for retail and CPG brands. New economic data on inflation, purchasing behavior and the impact of tariffs indicates a mixed outlook for CPG brands moving forward. Rising input costs and tariff-driven price pressure are squeezing margins while consumers shift toward value and convenience, altering channel mix and purchase frequency. Retailers and manufacturers may respond with assortment adjustments, pricing strategies and supply‑chain shifts as they navigate the changing landscape. 🛒📈📉 https://lnkd.in/gziMdRgW #CPG #Retail #Inflation #Tariffs #ConsumerBehavior #SupplyChain #RetailTrends

Dollar General’s latest earnings report offers a useful reminder of the important role the dollar store format plays in the U.S. retail landscape. The company reported a strong fourth quarter, with net sales up 5.9% to about $10.9B and comparable sales rising 4.3%, driven by higher customer traffic and slightly larger basket sizes. Earnings per share of $1.93 also exceeded analyst expectations. Operationally, the company also saw improvements in profitability, including an expansion in gross margin and a significant increase in operating profit, reflecting progress on initiatives to improve inventory management, reduce shrink, and optimize store operations. Despite these strong results, the outlook for 2026 is more cautious, with management projecting same-store sales growth of roughly 2.2%–2.7% amid ongoing economic pressures affecting their core customer base. From my perspective, the bigger takeaway goes beyond quarterly numbers. Retail formats like Dollar General serve a critical function for many American communities: 🔹 They provide accessible, value-oriented shopping for low- and moderate-income households 🔹 They often operate in rural and underserved markets where larger retailers have limited presence 🔹 They offer convenient access to everyday essentials in communities where grocery and general merchandise options may be limited In an environment where inflation and economic uncertainty continue to shape consumer behavior, the importance of these retailers becomes even more evident. Dollar General’s results reflect both sides of that reality — strong traffic driven by value-seeking shoppers, but also a reminder that many of those customers remain under financial pressure. For the retail industry, the lesson is clear: value, convenience, and local accessibility remain powerful drivers of retail relevance, particularly in communities that are often overlooked by larger formats. #Retail #DollarGeneral #ValueRetail #Grocery #RetailStrategy #RuralRetail #ConsumerBehavior #FutureOfRetail

**Kroger Posts 36% Higher Q4 Profit, Cites Slower 2026 Growth** Kroger reported a fourth-quarter profit of $861 million, a 36% increase from the year prior. This profit surge is a testament to the company's ability to navigate a challenging retail environment, despite macro-economic headwinds. The cautious 2026 growth forecast introduces a note of caution, as management anticipates slower sales growth due to inflationary pressures and shifting consumer preferences. Investors responded with a modest 0.95% decline in Kroger's stock, weighing the upside of higher profit against the downside of a softer growth outlook. Who will be the biggest beneficiary of Kroger's strategic initiatives in 2026, and what does this mean for the broader retail landscape? 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/ezNakgCS #RetailStrategy #GroceryMarketTrends #KrogerStockPerformance #EarningsForecast

Sprouts delivered strong 2025 growth—but is bracing for a “challenging” 2026. 📉🛒 The natural foods retailer grew net sales 14% to $8.8 billion last year, with Q4 sales up 8.1% to $2.1 billion, fueled in part by private label, which now accounts for nearly 26% of sales. Yet CEO Jack Sinclair flagged softer transaction trends and margin pressure tied to loyalty investments, saying the company is still refining how it shapes customer behavior through personalization. With more than 140 approved store locations, 40+ openings planned for 2026 and exclusive innovations like $8.99-$9.99 “Wellness Bowls” and seasonal limited-time drops in the pipeline, Sprouts is leaning into differentiation—even as it guides for flat to down comps amid macro headwinds and inflation-sensitive categories like meat and coffee. 🥗📊 How will pricing, promotions and private label factor into the retailer’s next phase of growth? Kroger's Q4 results was the first opportunity to hear from new CEO Greg Foran. Very quickly he's identified five priorities for the business: Grow sales faster by giving customers a stronger reason to choose Kroger. Sharpen price and value perception to drive traffic and units. Make fresh a consistent traffic and trust driver. Accelerate ecommerce as a core growth engine. Build further momentum with retail media and data. For suppliers, the priorities are: Support sharper value through price architecture, pack formats and promotions. Lean into fresh credentials, quality signals and availability. Build ranges and activation that work seamlessly across stores and ecommerce. He led the turnaround at Walmart US. We'll be tracking Kroger's progress at IGD (Institute of Grocery Distribution) Retail Analysis. Stay up to date with our analysis through our weekly newsletter.
