Karim Faris posted thisToday, ServiceNow has completed its acquisition of Veza. We at GV (Google Ventures) are incredibly proud to have supported Tarun Thakur, Maohua Lu Ph.D, and Robert Whitcher on this journey. They had identified early on that Authorization was the missing piece and had the foresight to focus on permissions and entitlements, the purest form of access. It was a problem that everyone had but few had truly solved... As we enter the AI Era, Enterprises need to govern and manage both AI agent and human access to systems. This timely combination connects Veza's comprehensive Access Graph with ServiceNow's AI platform, empowering enterprises to scale access visibility and controls to protect all customers. I am excited for what comes next. Karim Faris reposted thisKarim Faris reposted thisThis morning at 6am PT, we have publicly announced that Veza has entered into a definitive agreement to join ServiceNow. This is a monumental event in our journey, and one that reflects the incredible dedication and belief each of #Vezanite has put into building Veza. When Maohua Lu Ph.D, Robert Whitcher, and I founded Veza, we did so with the strong conviction that identity would evolve to become a critical pillar of security and that the legacy players had only - and could only - scratch the surface of what needed to be done. Over the past 5 years, we’ve collectively disrupted a traditionally sleepy part of the cybersecurity — identity security — by bringing a fundamentally transformative approach to solving an increasingly complex and challenging problem: how to achieve least privilege. Together, we’ve built more than a product; we’ve initiated a category-defining transformation in how enterprises think about identity and identity security. Most importantly, our vision resonates with customers who rely on Veza to answer the core question of identity security: who has access to what data, and who should. This clarity is mission-critical, and we’re proud to support customers such as Blackstone, Capital One, Intuit, Sallie Mae and Acrisure who trust us to bring transparency and control to their most sensitive access decisions. It's an honor to be partnering with sharpest data, identity, and AI enthusiasts: the team at ServiceNow - Bill McDermott Gina Mastantuono Amit Zavery John Aisien Philip Kirk Chris Bedi Ben de Bont Bryan Casper Pablo Stern Lou Fiorello and teams. Thank you Amit Zavery for setting a big bold business vision for this partnership and bringing it to life. Your commitment to both elite level execution and culture—ensuring Veza and ServiceNow’s hungry, humble, and customer-obsessed values remain aligned—sets the foundation for an exciting next chapter. Thank you Chris Bedi and Philip Kirk for believing in Veza’s unique architecture and our mission to transform identity when we met for the first time in 2023! Thank you John Aisien for recognizing the power of Veza’s Access Graph - I’m especially grateful for your unwavering support. This all started on July 4th @ 6am PST -- your pure startup mindset is the kernel behind ServiceNow + Veza. To our Vezanites: this moment is a tribute to your hard work, your engineering excellence, and your belief in a world where identity is secure by default. This acquisition validates everything we’ve achieved so far. Because of your hard work, persistence, and belief in our mission, we are now ready for the next step: partnering with ServiceNow teams to unleash the power of Veza’s platform across enterprise customers. To our Board of Directors and Investors: “thank you” doesn’t feel like enough. I’m incredibly grateful for your trust, support, advice, feedback, and dedication. You’ve challenged us, pushed us, and helped us grow into the company that reached this milestone. Onward!

Karim Faris reposted thisThe new GNSS/GPS L5 signal is much more accurate and 30x harder to jam. Our new mixed signal ASIC solves the very hard problem of acquiring the new L5 signal, without first acquiring the old L1 signal, with ultra-low power consumption. With US Space Force's announcement yesterday of the 19th new GPS satellite launch tomorrow that supports L5, the use of L5 will rapidly expand.Karim Faris reposted thisWe're pleased to announce the successful bring-up of the world's first L5-direct™ GNSS receiver ASIC. This groundbreaking L5 receiver, completely independent of vulnerable L1 signals, was rapidly developed and deployed leveraging the advanced GlobalFoundries (GF) 22nm FDX™ platform, benefiting from its exceptional mixed-signal capabilities and ultra-low power performance for both RF and digital domains. "GlobalFoundries is proud to partner with innovative companies like oneNav to enable the next generation of technologies," said Ezra Hall, senior director of aerospace, defense, and critical infrastructure at GlobalFoundries. "The successful bring-up of oneNav's groundbreaking L5-direct™ GNSS receiver on 22FDX+ showcases the unique advantages of our platform. Its optimized power and performance, combined with superior mixed-signal integration, make it an ideal choice for demanding applications requiring both high precision and low power consumption. Earlier this year, oneNav partnered with three military agencies to evaluate L5-direct in terrestrial, maritime, and aerial environments while under strong simulated electronic warfare conditions. The successful outcomes of these evaluations confirmed the technology's complete immunity to L1 signal interference and thirty-fold greater resilience to L5 signal interference. L5-direct can be deployed in defense, national security, industrial, and consumer applications giving an order of magnitude improvement in jamming resistance for critical GPS-based positioning and timing applications. Everpure was founded and led on the belief that data storage and management are high technology, not a commodity. Since then, we’ve challenged conventional beliefs, built differentiated technology, and earned the trust of the world’s largest organizations. We have come a long way; but thanks to the growing ranks of customers, partners, employees and investors that support Everpure, we are just getting started!

Karim Faris liked thisKarim Faris liked thisAfter spending this week in New York City for my new role, today’s 25th anniversary of 9/11 feels particularly close to home. My mother is a 9/11 World Trade Center survivor. But surviving is only part of her story. She took a traumatic experience and then spent years helping organizations prepare, respond and protect others. She served on the 9/11 Commission, where she co-authored the “Heroism and Horror” chapter of the report documenting what happened in New York that day and what we needed to learn from it. As a child, I attended many of the Commission’s hearings on Capitol Hill and in New York City. I heard testimony from national leaders, first responders and families as investigators reconstructed the day, minute by minute, from final calls to loved ones and acts of extraordinary courage to failures in communication, technology and emergency preparedness. And she kept going. Alongside her day job, she developed ISO 22301 (the international standard for Societal Security and Business Continuity Management Systems), updated National fire protection codes (NFPA 1600), advised following the Mumbai terrorist attacks, served on the private-sector committee supporting the security of the London 2012 Olympic Games, and advised Paul Greengrass on the United 93 film. Twenty-five years later, her example and those lessons have stayed with me: • Understand risk before crisis strikes. • Have a plan. Practice it relentlessly. • Act decisively when circumstances change. • Build connected systems and resilience before you need them. As we close out the day, I remember those we lost, those who ran toward danger, and those who spent the years that followed making others safer. The lessons endure: understand the risk, prepare for it, and build the resilience to face what comes next.

Karim Faris liked thisEnterprise AI use and technology is changing so rapidly that it requires a product that is both a pure-play AI security solution (deep) and also covers multiple use cases (future-proof). AKA what we set out to build from day one. Thank you SACR for including WitnessAI in this latest ARISE analysis!Karim Faris liked this"A valid credential can still be used for an invalid action." That line comes from Software Analyst Cyber Research's new ARISE report, published September 3, 2026 by Paul Webber and Lawrence Pingree. ARISE stands for Agentic Runtime Identity Security Enforcement. The framework turns on one question. "Should this agent be allowed to take this action, with this tool, credential, data, and delegated authority, for this purpose, right now?" SACR's market map places WitnessAI in four areas: Gateway and Prompt-Control, MCP and Tool-Governance, Runtime Behaviour and Agent Detection, and Emerging Full-Stack ARISE Contenders. Together they trace the path one task travels: the prompt in, the agent's behavior in between, the tool call out. The report sets its production bar at inline enforcement that can allow, block, redact, pause, step up, or restrict a live action before it completes. Observability and posture alone is insufficient. We are proud to be represented in the report. WitnessAI governs the full path with one control plane, one policy framework, and one audit trail across employees, models, applications, and agents. Karim Faris liked thisKarim Faris liked thisIt’s done. My book, Scaling Security: The 7 Pillars of Elite Cybersecurity Programs, will be launched on February 23rd, 2027 and you can pre-order it now. https://lnkd.in/esmtuXKH _________________________________________________________ We are all dealing with more complexity, more dependencies, more surface area, more risk, rapid technology change, and increasing attacker capabilities. At the same time, our businesses and societies have become ever more digitally dependent. What separates elite security programs from merely competent ones, is not simply better tools or bigger budgets. It is seven pillars that transform security leadership from reactive expertise into organizational leverage: setting leading indicators of performance, modernizing for inherent defensibility, prioritizing the high-impact 20 percent, amplifying people through structure and AI, architecting for resilience, running security like a business, and weaponizing speed as strategy. This book provides a leadership operating system for CISOs and other security leaders who need to move their programs from bespoke to scalable, to create organization-wide systems that hold under pressure - to move from the artisanal to the industrial.

Karim Faris liked thisKarim Faris liked thisSome personal news: After 18 years, I am retiring from GV (Google Ventures) and will transition to a Managing Partner Emeritus role in the New Year. The life sciences team remains in very capable hands with David Schenkein, MD, who has been the GVLS co-lead for over seven years. I joined GV at its outset because I believed a venture fund backed by Google (now Alphabet) could be a platform to change healthcare. All these years later, I can attest that we have built a uniquely capable vehicle that has had a tremendous impact. I'm immensely proud of the investments we made in remarkable founders, backing companies including Flatiron Health, Foundation Medicine, One Medical, Relay Therapeutics, PatientPing, LifeMine, Parabilis Medicines, Isomorphic Labs, Triple Aim Partners, Verve, and Curie.bio, to name just a few. The GV life sciences team behind those bets is the real story: a technically deep, patient-focused, and visionary group of people whom I’ve loved working with all these years. It is hard to overstate the impact and value they have generated for patients, our firm, and portfolio and how much more lies ahead. It is particularly amazing how everyone on our team has grown and evolved as investors, operators, and leaders over the last two decades. In 2009, building a life sciences investment practice felt like a pipe dream. Today our life sciences team and portfolio are thriving. Our conviction has never been stronger, driven by 150 active investments across therapeutics, biotech, payor/provider, women’s health, and healthcare AI. As many people I work with know, my decision to go into medicine was inspired by the frustrations I experienced in my dad's care when he got sick a long time ago. He's been ill again for a while now, and I'm at one of those moments where the right place for me to be is with my family. I know that's always a bit of a cliché, but everyone around me knows it's what's happening. Despite all of our efforts, we haven't come up with all the cures yet. GV is a special place that lets investors and founders do special things. It's been an amazing journey. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who has helped make it so unique and successful over the course of nearly two decades, and I’m excited for what happens next. All the best, -Krishna kyeshwant@gmail.com

Proud to support Esusu as it enters its next phase of growth with a new $50M Series C fundraise! Wemimo Abbey, Samir Goel and team continue to lead the industry in credit building and economic mobility for millions of renters nationwide. Esusu (Founder Institute San Francisco portfolio company) is setting a new standard for combining economic and societal impact. By helping renters get credit (literally) for paying their rent on time, they are increasing financial access and empowering more people to become homeowners - in fact, they have already empowered over $30BN in new mortgages from renters across their system. I'm especially excited about how they plan to leverage their massive dataset to create even more impact. By making rental payment data a more prominent feature in mortgage underwriting, Esusu will be able to increase the number of people that can buy homes and build generational wealth. This is a truly inspiring company 🙌 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/guUKsGtY

As AI workloads eat up global computing supply, DRAM prices are surging like never before—creating major challenges for teams trying to plan out their data center spend. One of my portfolio companies, Mext, is addressing the largest cost component in the datacenter: server memory (DRAM). From being on the board of Redis for the last twelve years, I’ve learned a lot about the various aspects of this problem and approaches to solving them. Mext found a breakthrough, using new AI techniques, for dramatically reducing the amount of server-DRAM required to run applications, all while maintaining performance. It intelligently manages the server’s memory, keeping hot pages (i.e., those in use by applications) in fast DRAM and offloading cold pages (i.e., those less used) to a much less expensive memory tier (e.g., NVMe Flash). Key to the approach is ensuring cold memory pages that are about to be accessed by an application are back in DRAM before the application needs them or notices that they were gone. This is done without modifications to the application or the OS – so it can run in the cloud or on-premise. Mext thus allows applications to either run using less DRAM or keep their DRAM footprint but do more with it. They're hosting a webinar along with Fred Weber (former CTO of AMD) on Jan 22nd at 10am pacific time. You can register here: https://lnkd.in/gXe9GCeE
