Mark Peters shared thisExactly! We need a lot more of this type of curiosity!!Mark Peters shared thisMaybe, if we were a little more curious about what life is like for those on the front-lines, we would find ways to improve their lives, in big ways and in small ways. Not out of charity but to create a better, more effective workplace. And a better world in doing so.

Mark Peters shared thisOne of my biggest takeaways from the TPM National Learning Network Summit: we have many of the tools we need. Now we need more senior business leaders to put investing in human capital at the top of their strategic initiatives. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, through TPM, has developed a rigorous set of tools and employer-led communities of practice across the country. There's a lot we can learn from what's already working. I enjoyed all of the conversations this week and connecting with friends old and new: Jaimie Francis, Basile Lemba, Niki D., Michael Kearney, Michael Carney, Lisa Larson, Deborah Lyzenga and Ahnna Smith. The opportunity is here. We just need more leaders to lean in. #TPMNetwork #iNexus #Leadership

Mark Peters shared thisToday, I'm meeting some incredible workforce leaders from across the country at the 2026 Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) National Learning Network Summit in Washington, D.C. My interest in TPM goes well beyond the framework itself. It's a big part of what led us to iNexus. Through iNexus, we're exploring how employers can work together to better understand the skills they need, create clearer pathways for people and connect workers to opportunities that can change the trajectory of their careers. There is a lot to learn from employers, educators and workforce leaders who are trying new approaches in their own communities. I'm hearing new ideas, new perspectives and feeling an even stronger belief in what's possible when we work together. #TPMNetwork #iNexus #Leadership

Mark Peters shared thisWe have a lot of data about turnover, poverty and workforce challenges. But instead of asking why people leave, what if we got curious about what's happening in their lives while they're with us? For many people earning less than $60,000, life can be complex and destabilized. And there are plenty of people in our workforce living with that complexity. The answer seems simple: "We need to pay everyone more." Compensation matters. However, as employers, we have other ways to influence the talent ecosystem. We can help people navigate the complexity they're facing. And through investment, we can create more talent flow within our organizations and help our people architect a different future. That's the shift I explore in The Retention Trap: Stop thinking only about how to keep people and start thinking about how to invest in them. Sometimes, getting curious is where that change begins. Mark Peters shared thisFor two decades, Wine & Words has brought together friends, neighbors, business leaders and supporters who believe in the power of literacy to change lives. This event has become a tradition that continues to bring people together in support of the Literacy Center of West Michigan. I'm excited to share that the Library of Congress recognized the Literacy Center for its work and awarded it the 2026 Kislak Family Foundation Prize of $100,000 to help advance its mission. What an incredible recognition of the impact this organization is making in our community. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, volunteers and guests, the event was a tremendous success, and we surpassed our $70,000 fundraising goal! A special thank you to Danilo for sharing his story and reminding us what literacy can make possible. I love being part of this tradition and am appreciative of everyone who continues to show up for this important work. Together, we're helping create a brighter future, one word at a time. #Community #Literacy #EnrichLives Wendy Falb

Mark Peters shared thisFour years ago, Justin Beene and I started Cocktails + Cross Pollination without really knowing what it would become. I'm still surprised by the traction it's gained. The idea is pretty simple: bring people together who might not otherwise meet, take away the pressures of sharing titles and job descriptions and create a space for genuine conversation. What's been eye-opening is realizing how much intentionality it takes to make this happen, and how infrequently we actually create these opportunities in our community. People want to connect, and the results in this video are staggering. They want to hear each other's stories and find common ground with people they may have never crossed paths with otherwise. That feels like a pretty important thesis to keep exploring. Now the question is: How do we take this idea to other communities and create more opportunities for people to connect this way?

Mark Peters shared thisI had a great conversation with Lyndsay Dowd in The Leadership Lounge. We covered a lot of ground — from my early experiences working on the factory floor of Butterball Farms, Inc. to what I've learned about leadership, investing in people and building a culture around our mission to Enrich Lives. One thing I keep coming back to is that leadership isn't about having all the answers. It's about leaders' 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 to question how things have always been done and having the 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 to do what you believe is right for your people and your organization. Thank you, Lyndsay, for creating the space for such an honest conversation and for allowing me to share some of the lessons I've learned along the way. I enjoyed this one!

Mark Peters shared thisAs leaders, we often treat turnover as a clear indicator of whether we're doing a good job keeping people. What if we're measuring retention the wrong way? What happens if someone stays with your organization and stops growing? I've come to believe leadership isn't about simply keeping people; it's about investing in them. Helping the talent workforce build skills, grow their confidence and do meaningful work. If they eventually take those strengths somewhere else, that can still be a sign the investment mattered. That's the thinking behind The Retention Trap, a book I wrote to challenge how we think about retention, talent and investing in people. If you've read it, I'd love to hear what ideas changed how you think about retention. 🤔 #TheRetentionTrap #Leadership #TalentInvestment

This is the gap I founded the Rockstar Woman Movement to fill. Yesterday, registration for our 2027 year-round membership opened! It’s a comprehensive package of wraparound content, community, and care for the women we depend on to lead, love, and serve in transformational ways. Whether you’re considering membership for yourself or investing in the women on your team, we’ve unveiled it all at: https://lnkd.in/ejREhEVP Take a peek :) Thank you Jessica White-Hatinger, MPA, CDA for being an amazing founding member and our muse. Who needs stock images when you have a community of dynamic women to showcase?!?!
