Martin Dolfi reposted thisMartin Dolfi reposted thisWe started Allocate with a simple premise. Everyone who is qualified to invest in the private markets should be able to do so responsibly. Responsibly means access to the right assets, in the right amounts, tailored to each investor’s objectives. We help make that possible by providing advisors with the modern technology and infrastructure they need to thoughtfully build and manage private market portfolios for their clients. Today, we work with over 400 wealth firms, and we manage nearly $6B in assets. But technology alone isn’t enough. Education, expertise, and access to the right network matter just as much. This coming week, we’re bringing together a very select group of 150 GPs and advisors in Austin for Allocate’s Alts Day, focused on the growing convergence between wealth management and the private markets. Included will be leaders from Vista Equity Partners Menlo Ventures Lightspeed Altimeter H.I.G. Capital Dynasty Financial Partners Hightower Advisors Clearstead Caprock Stifel Bank etc. It should be a great day of discussion, learning, and connection among a group of people who are deeply engaged in where private markets are headed. Martin Dolfi shared thisGreat people! Congratulations Pam!Martin Dolfi shared thisThis week we joined the PEWIN Foundation in celebrating AIC Chairman Pamela Hendrickson for her countless hours spent mentoring, advising, and counseling. It was a joyous event, highlighted by stories from Pam's family, friends, and coworkers. What struck me is how similar those stories are across different parts of her world -- she is the same generous and wise person everywhere she goes. That's certainly been true throughout her chairmanship at American Investment Council (AIC) as well. We are grateful for your leadership, Pam!

Martin Dolfi shared thisThe center of gravity in consumer is moving South. Last week, 100 founders, CEOs, investors and partners from across the country gathered at Soho House Nashville for the 2026 Beliade Consumer Partners Annual General Meeting. We heard directly from leaders behind Rhone, Malbon, Recess, Stone & Skillet, Farm to People, Asana Partners, Embark and Ojas Partners – candid conversations about growth, culture and what it takes to build enduring brands. The day also brought Southbound – the next chapter at Beliade – to life. Southbound reflects a conviction that many of America’s next great consumer brands are being built outside the traditional coastal ecosystem, particularly across the South. Population, talent, culture and purchasing power are moving South. Exceptional entrepreneurs are building there. Capital has not fully caught up. That gap is the opportunity. If you are building a differentiated consumer brand in the South, I want to hear from you.

Martin Dolfi shared thisA healthier America starts with the food on our tables and the farmers who grow it. That’s why Beliade Consumer Partners new investment in Farm To People is such a natural fit for us. Michael Robinov and his team are making it easier for families to eat fresh, high-quality food while helping small farms reach more customers and earn a better living. We believe building a great consumer business and supporting American farmers can go hand in hand. Farm to People brings those interests together, connecting the quality of a farmers market with the convenience busy families need. After 13 years of bootstrapping, this team has earned its next chapter. Congratulations to Michael, the Farm to People team, and our fellow investors. Let’s get more good food onto more family tables.Martin Dolfi shared thisAfter 13+ years of bootstrapping, I'm excited to announce Farm To People's first outside investment, $5 million led by Elly Truesdell and Hallie Bonnar of New Fare Partners alongside a list of founders and operators I've admired for a long time, listed below. Read more in yesterday's The New York Times, linked in the comments. Farm to People was never meant to be a different grocery delivery company. It's infrastructure for a food system where a small farm can actually make a living. The Times put it as our ambition, and they're right: a new economy for small farms to succeed. That's what happens when the quality of the farmers market meets the ease of modern e-commerce. From my parents' studio apartment on the Upper West Side to a new 40,000 square foot warehouse coming soon in The Bronx, it's been a helluva ride. Thank you David Robinov for being a pioneer in the natural foods movement since before I was born and for making this all possible. And Anina von Haeften for your partnership and vision every day! To every customer, farmer, maker, driver, packer, buyer, and team member who got us here: thank you. And we're just getting started. If you want to build this with us, we're hiring. It's hard work. If you're ready to make an impact, reach out. Here's the incredible list of investors who share our vision of the future and inspire us: Gary Hirshberg (and Ethan, Alex, Danielle) founder of Stonyfield; Walter Robb former co-CEO of Whole Foods; David Barber of Blue Hill At Stone Barns; Fred Wilson (and Joanne & Josh) founder of Union Square Ventures; Martin Dolfi, Bill Schultz and Whitney Williams from Beliade Consumer Partners; Jean-Francois Jeff Déchant (and Felix Dechant, our COO, who makes FtP run every day); Jeff Sterrett & Jamie Sterrett; Stephen Williamson, John Charles Hanley & Daisy Bowes Williamson; Todd Lachman; Tom Gellert & Andrew Gellert; Sam Slover; Jeff Samberg; Gabi Lewis; and more. Thank you Jacqueline S. for sharing our story with the world.

Martin Dolfi reposted thisMartin Dolfi reposted thisI sat down with Samir Kaji for his podcast Venture Unlocked. Samir is the co-founder and CEO of Allocate, and M13 wrote one of the early checks into the company, so this was a founder we backed asking the questions. Different kind of pressure test than a normal interview. We got into the thing Courtney Reum and I actually set out to do in 2016 when we talk about M13 being a truly operator-led VC firm. We weren't trying to build a better VC. We were trying to build a different one, the firm a founder would have built for themselves. What that looks like in practice: Samir Kaji and I got into a company aiming to be IPO ready in under five years. I could have weighed in. Instead I went and got Karl Alomar, who took DigitalOcean from pre-revenue to a $5 billion IPO. Same conversation covered why a founder gets Latif Peracha or Sarah Tomolonius instead of me when that is the better call. Knowing who to hand it to is the job. Samir Kaji pushed on the part most people in this business avoid, which is the gap between value-add investors and the ones who quietly subtract value. A bad board member doesn't just fail to help. They take founder hours and slow decisions at the moments speed matters most. Nobody has a scorecard for that. We also talked about AI. Everyone knows it will change the world. That's not the interesting part. The interesting part is where in the value chain you invest to find the best risk and probability adjusted return, and where the asymmetry actually sits right now. Martin Dolfi reposted thisMartin Dolfi reposted thisWant to see 2 siblings debate (read argue) on a live panel for SXSW? I'm excited to share that my sister, Lily Checketts Shimbashi, founder of Sportsish, and I have submitted a panel for SXSW 2027: “Sports Culture Has New Owners.” Sports is changing faster than ever. The way fans discover, engage with, and build communities around sports is being reshaped by creators, athletes, NIL, and culture-first platforms. We’ll explore a big question: in a world where fandom is everywhere, who actually owns it? SXSW determines their panels based on voting and so if you'd like to see who would win in a sibling debate then we'd love your vote. Community voting is open now — click the ♥️ on our panel to help bring it to SXSW 2027. Link in comments. Rhone

Martin Dolfi liked thisMartin Dolfi liked thisSEEKING ADVICE FROM MY NETWORK: We purchased our Range Rover in January for $178,000 and have frankly gotten bored of it. The dealer offered us $90,000 on trade. The Lamborghini Urus we’ve configured is $657,500. Budget is unlimited, but we’re trying to be thoughtful. Would it make more sense to give the Range Rover to our nanny and purchase the Urus outright? Nanny #2 currently drives something that requires her to physically insert a key, which has been difficult to explain to the kiddos. My only concern is that gifting her a Range Rover could blur the distinction between family parking and staff parking. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has navigated a similar hardship. Please DO NOT suggest a Porsche.

Martin Dolfi liked thisMartin Dolfi liked thisUNC may have just posted the best endowment return of fiscal 2026. The UNC Investment Fund returned an extraordinary 37.8% for the year ended June 30, roughly double the return of the OCIO Analytics Endowment Universe. Perhaps even more impressive: UNC has now compounded at 20.1% annually over the past three years. SpaceX was a major contributor to this year's result, highlighting something that can get lost in discussions about asset allocation: access, manager selection, and patience can matter enormously. Not every endowment has reported yet, but 37.8% is the highest FY2026 return I have seen so far. An extraordinary result, both for one year and over three. Congrats to UNC!

Martin Dolfi liked thisMartin Dolfi liked thisI’m thrilled to share that I just joined Stand Together as Managing Director of Economic Innovation. In this new role, I will take the lead in crafting and deploying AI strategy for this incredible organization and its vast ecosystem of men and women working to ensure that America remains the world’s leader in innovation. For the past three years, I have built a business that helps ambitious start-ups raise capital, go-to-market, and execute strategies to win in the marketplace of ideas. These companies and their leaders embody the American frontier spirit in countless ways: permissionless innovation as the guiding principle, a tireless work ethic as the norm, and individual empowerment as the goal. But our American innovation ecosystem is fragile and faces constant threats. As AI transforms our economy, our society, and our way of life at a pace none of us could have perhaps ever imagined, new thinking is needed to ensure that this generation-defining technology and our frontier spirit flourish. I’m honored to have the opportunity to play a meaningful role in this moment. Follow this space for updates on my journey, visit www.StandTogether.org to learn more about our work, and reach out to me 1:1 to share your perspectives on what needs to be done to keep the American entrepreneur one step ahead.

Martin Dolfi liked thisMartin Dolfi liked thisMost private equity firms don’t have a government affairs team. Many don’t have a communications team either. They’re focused on finding businesses and helping them grow. That’s where AIC comes in. We bring those stories to lawmakers, show what private investment means in their states and districts, and advocate for policies that allow our members to keep building businesses. AIC President and CEO Will Dunham explains that role on The Deciders. Watch the clip, then see the full conversation: https://lnkd.in/epSRradB

4/15 1PM - Capital Clarity: Navigating SBA Funding for Startup Founders REGISTER TODAY! >> https://lnkd.in/edHcdeVA Early-stage founders often focus on venture capital as the primary path to funding — but it’s far from the only option. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers a wide range of programs, resources, and funding pathways that can support founders at different stages of building and scaling their companies. Yet many startup founders aren’t fully aware of how these programs work, when they are appropriate, or how they fit alongside venture capital and other forms of non-dilutive capital. Join Startup Grind Boston and the U.S. Small Business Administration – Massachusetts District Office for a practical conversation designed to help founders better understand the broader capital landscape. This session will provide founders with clarity on when SBA programs may be a strong fit, how they compare to venture funding and grants such as SBIR/STTR, and what founders should have in place before pursuing these opportunities. Our goal is to make the conversation founder-first and practical, giving attendees a clear understanding of the tools available and how to evaluate which funding pathways make sense for their company. Representatives from the SBA Massachusetts District Office will be speaking at this event, including Kristi Haxhiaj, Shelly Gillis, M.Ed. and Carlos Hernandez.

Proud to announce the launch of The OVA Fund with the acquisition of two strategic assets—Towne Square in Roanoke, Virginia, and The HUB in Summerville, South Carolina. This marks the first of many acquisitions for the Octave Vantico Alliance Fund I (OVA I), a partnership between Octave Holdings and Investments and Vantico Investments focused on targeting essential retail centers along with medical office centers that meet everyday community needs. Towne Square is a 299,000+ sq. ft. grocery-anchored power center with strong national tenants including Marshalls, Academy Sports, Ross, HomeSense, Petco, and Five Below, attracting more than 5.3 million annual visits. The HUB @ Nexton is a newly developed medical office and mixed-use property in one of the Southeast’s fastest-growing communities, with Phase I already fully leased. Together, these acquisitions reflect OVA’s strategy to invest in essential retail and healthcare real estate designed to deliver stable, scalable, and recession-resilient returns. 🔗 Read more: https://bit.ly/4bh4bkB #OVA #RealEstate #Investment #CommercialRealEstate #OctaveHI #Vantico #ICSC #Groceryanchored #CRE

National HealthCare… • 5K followers
What’s Investable in Healthcare Right Now Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the Nashville Health Care Council Sessions event, surrounded by healthcare investors from across the spectrum: venture capital, lower middle market private equity, sovereign wealth funds (QIA), and Wall Street, discussing what’s truly investable in healthcare right now. A few clear themes emerged: 1. Profitability and strategy matter more than ever. Investors want companies that know their lane and stick to it. That means shedding unprofitable service lines, focusing on sustainable margins, and aligning business strategy with the policy environment. (Policy and strategy are inextricably linked!) 2. The Medicare pivot is here. With the last baby boomers aging into Medicare in 2029, the focus is shifting. The growth story is no longer about MA enrollment, it’s about controlling costs throughout the Medicare lifespan. Chronic kidney disease, orthopedics, home health, and specialty pharmacy are hot spots of excess spend. 3. Technology is the bridge to sustainability. AI tools that cut administrative burden, alleviate provider burnout, and help employers manage costs are investable today. LLMs are now table stakes, and it’s nonnegotiable to adopt these technologies, while recognizing the products will look very different in 3–5 years. 4. Consolidation and restructuring will happen. Home health is ripe for roll-ups, payors are the most likely buyers for healthcare IT, and large “pay-viders” (I hate that term) may need to divest of provider assets as Medicare Advantage economics change. Partnerships with strategics are more attractive than traditional PE playbooks. The bottom line: margins are compressing and labor will have to be cut, but technology will carry the industry across the chasm. Ultimately, investors are backing companies with the experience, network, and conviction to lead through this environment, "not just tourists who heard that healthcare was a fun place to visit” (quote of the day by Marcus Whitney).
