The deep caring that we feel for one another even though we may not have physically met. A colleague of ours passed away yesterday, and in the last few months I've spoken with him daily and weekly to check in. He was part of our Goodwin Recruiting family and today I hurt for his blood family yet I am grateful for the time we had and the conversations and things we learned about one another. Wynn Gates I will miss you immensely and forever will be grateful for the lessons you taught me. Rest in peace.

When people walk into a resort, they notice the atmosphere, feel the energy, and appreciate the story and attention to detail. However, what they rarely see are the months of planning, coordination, budgeting, logistics, vendor management, and teamwork required to make that experience feel effortless. Our recent Summer of '86 installations were the result of collaboration across multiple departments, creative partners, and countless team members working toward one goal: creating memorable guest experiences without disrupting a 24/7 operation. Projects like these reinforce a key lesson learned throughout my career. Creating beautiful environments isn't solely about landscaping or décor; it's fundamentally about leadership. It's about aligning people behind a shared vision, solving problems before guests ever notice them, balancing creativity with operational realities, and delivering an experience that feels seamless. I am grateful for the talented teams and partners who helped bring these installations to life. Watching an idea evolve from concept to reality is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work. The best guest experiences rarely happen by accident; they're built through planning, trust, and execution.

Matt Smith liked thisMatt Smith liked thisPOST 4/5- FOMO Made Me Do It At the end of last year, Naja Faysal and I started fantasizing about me joining full-time at Parrots Lab Media. We were two dreamers saying things like, "How cool would it be if you came on board full time?" or "I wonder what my responsibilities would be if I left my career and did this with you?" It was kind of like those"wouldn't it be nice" conversations; nothing serious, just us daydreaming. Except.. it didn't stay a fantasy for long. One day, in March, we went to go meet our friend and her partner for lunch. They are Entrepreneurs together. It was at her home that she straight up turned to me and asked me.. "What is holding you back from jumping ship?" I was taken aback that she was so brazen! I gave her a bunch of excuses that night. I hemmed and hawed and I told her I had a whole career that I'd been working towards that I finally had. I told her that it was a great paying job and that it was our safety net. I told her that I was comfortable with our family dynamic just the way it was... but I knew I was just comfortable with being comfortable. As we were going home, Naja and I talked. It was emotional and it was scary. Naja was so sweet and said that if I wasn't ready, we could stay as is. There was Zero pressure from his end. That night, I couldn't sleep. I thought about how I'm half owner of Parrots Lab Media, and he ALWAYS gave me credit on everything even when he did all the work, I felt like an imposter and wanted to EARN the credit he gave me. It was a really hard decision to make because I already had a full blown career in hospitality that I LOVED, with a team I loved being around every single day. We had built ourselves this cushy safety net, you know, just in case something ever happened with Parrotslab. And walking away from my job meant walking away from that net too. But then I'd seen our company grow. And grow. And GROW. And that FOMO got so real. I remember thinking, wait a minute, this is happening whether I'm fully in it or not, so why am I watching from the sidelines of something that's literally half mine? That feeling eventually won over my fear. And I decided to go all in and we set a 3 month plan for me to leave in June. Tomorrow is my actual 30 day review. What I've learned, what surprised me, what I miss, and what I wouldn't trade for anything in this world.
