🚨 Africa’s Entrepreneurial Future Just Got a $16 Million Boost The Tony Elumelu Foundation has unveiled 3,200 entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries as part of its 2026 Entrepreneurship Programme selected from a staggering 265,000+ applications. This is not just funding. It’s a continental strategy. Each entrepreneur receives $5,000 in seed capital, alongside world-class training, mentorship, and access to a powerful pan-African network fueling businesses in AI, agriculture and the green economy. As Tony Elumelu puts it: “Luck can be engineered. Opportunity can be democratised.” At a time when Africa’s startup ecosystem is redefining global innovation narratives, this initiative reinforces a critical truth: Africa’s greatest asset is its people, not its minerals. This year’s cohort signals more than growth. It marks a shift toward: ✔️ Scalable African-led innovation ✔️ Private-sector-driven development (Africapitalism) ✔️ Job creation and inclusive economic transformation 📊 With SMEs already driving up to 80% of employment across the continent, the implications are massive. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dXJTR57w 📄 See the full list of selected entrepreneurs (2026 cohort): https://lnkd.in/dr37Aid5 #AfricaRising #Entrepreneurship #Startups #Innovation #Africapitalism #TEF #TonyElumelu #BusinessAfrica #EconomicTransformation

The sustainability of Entrepreneurship Support Organizations (ESOs) is becoming one of the most important conversations in Africa’s startup ecosystem. As development funding landscapes shift, ecosystem builders must begin rethinking how innovation hubs, incubators, and startup support organizations operate. Long-term resilience will require stronger business models, deeper engagement with the private sector, and greater mobilization of domestic capital. At ESun Center of Change in Ethiopia, we are actively exploring how youth-focused entrepreneurship hubs can evolve into more independent and self-sustaining ecosystem builders while continuing to support early-stage startups through incubation, mentorship, and business advisory services. The recent conversation convened in Addis Ababa by ANDE East Africa highlights an important reality: building resilient startup ecosystems requires collaboration among ecosystem actors, investors, development partners, and policymakers. Ethiopia’s startup ecosystem is still emerging, but the opportunity to shape strong and sustainable support structures is significant. We look forward to engaging with ecosystem partners, networks, and institutions working to strengthen entrepreneurship support across Africa. #StartupEcosystem #Entrepreneurship #InnovationEcosystem #AfricaStartups #ANDEEastAfrica #ReachForChange #AfricanManagementInstitute #InternationalGrowthCentre #MInT #MoLS #JICA #NESTInitiative #EDI #EYEA #EASE #EEA #BCG #GraceWachori #TewodrosMakonnenGebrewolde #FrancisGitau #MahletMekonnen
