Stevia and monk fruit demand is exploding, but the real bottleneck isn't the crop, it's the specification 🌿 More than 90% of monk fruit cultivation is concentrated in a handful of counties in China's Guangxi province, and premium stevia glycosides like Reb M face their own extraction and purification constraints even when raw leaf harvests are strong. 🔑 Why "more suppliers" doesn't always mean "more security": - Leaf availability does not equal high-purity finished extract availability - Beverage reformulation in particular demands consistent sweetness, low off-notes, and large-volume supply contracts - The real metric isn't how many suppliers list stevia, it's how many can deliver the exact glycoside profile required Fermentation-derived Reb M is emerging as a genuine supply diversification path, though capacity still lags behind demand. Buyers should be pre-qualifying second sources before the next supply squeeze, not after. Full breakdown: https://lnkd.in/euKTH_FU #Stevia #MonkFruit #NaturalSweeteners #IngredientSourcing

Peruvian ginger enters peak quality window as excess supply weighs on market Peruvian ginger is entering one of its strongest quality periods of the year, with fully mature product now arriving in North America. At the same time, however, abundant low-priced ginger is putting pressure on the market, while concerns about supply-chain informality and the potential impact of El Niño add uncertainty to the months ahead. Rooibos isn't tea. And that's only the first surprise. A plant that grows well in just one corner of South Africa shipped more than 10,000 tonnes of exports in 2025. Its biggest buyer sits 15,000 km away. It's a case study in how a local crop becomes a global brand. One place in the world Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) is endemic to South Africa, with the Cederberg region at the heart of its production, and its restricted growing area gives it a provenance few agricultural commodities can claim. It's dryland farming, dependent on natural rainfall. It isn't tea: tea comes from Camellia sinensis. Hence the two key differences caffeine-free, and very low in tannins. The market, in numbers (South African Rooibos Council, 2025) → Exports passed 10,000 tonnes for the first time: roughly 10,930, up from around 5,900 in 2015 → Japan remains the largest market, at 33% of total exports → More than 50 markets; Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and France provide stability, while Indonesia, Sri Lanka and China are gaining momentum → Production of about 15,000 tonnes, down from 17,000 in 2023 The figure that matters: demand has held steady at around 18,000 tonnes a year, while production has swung between 13,000 and 25,000 tonnes over two decades. Supply is volatile; demand isn't. The strategic move: protecting the name In 2021 the European Commission registered rooibos as a Protected Designation of Origin — the first African food to achieve it. Nothing grown outside the designated Cape municipalities can be called rooibos. It joined the same register as champagne. The lesson for any brand: origin is only an asset if you can defend it legally. What the science says (and doesn't) The solid part: rooibos is the only known natural source of aspalathin. And in Marnewick's 2011 clinical trial, 40 volunteers drinking six cups a day for six weeks saw an improved lipid profile, with LDL and triglycerides down and HDL up. The false part: that it's rich in vitamin C and minerals. The South African Rooibos Council itself says otherwise — vitamin C is destroyed during fermentation, and while rooibos does contain minerals, the concentration is insubstantial. Its real case needs no exaggeration: caffeine-free, sugar-free, low in tannins, with a unique polyphenol profile. That's plenty. What's coming Two tensions. Climate: exports are at record highs, but the valley where it grows is warming, and an endemic plant can't relocate. And value: SARC spokesperson Adele du Toit points out that the opportunity now lies in unlocking more value inside South Africa, through innovation and beneficiation. Exporting bulk leaf is one business. Turning it into a finished product is another entirely. A plant that grows in one valley. A name protected across Europe. Ten billion cups a year. Not bad for a shrub that started out as a cheap substitute for tea. #Rooibos #FoodAndBeverage #AgriBusiness #SouthAfrica #ProtectedDesignationOfOrigin #FMCG #FoodInnovation #MatchaColors

A domestic Shatavari trader once looked at our roots and questioned why they were so brown. We were new growers, and the question created some doubt for us. Was this simply the natural appearance of our Shatavari, or was there something we didn't yet understand about what the market expected? Rather than assume, we decided to find out. We sent our Shatavari roots to two independent laboratories for testing. When one of the analytical reports came back, one simple line caught my attention: “Sample Appearance: Brown Colour Roots.” That's exactly what they were. What we knew about our own process was equally clear: we had not used artificial whitening agents to make our roots look lighter. That experience taught us an important lesson very early: when we don't know something, we ask questions, test, document and learn. That is also how we want to build Mivaan Organic Farm as a botanical ingredient supplier — with transparency about what we grow and documentation to support what we sell. Today, we are introducing our certified organic Shatavari Powder to B2B buyers. If you're evaluating Organic Shatavari Powder for your business, I'm happy to share our specifications, organic certification and laboratory reports. #Shatavari #BotanicalIngredients #IngredientSourcing #OrganicIngredients #MivaanOrganicFarm

From Xinjiang Fields to Roasted Snack Lines: Inside a Black Sunflower Seed Supply Chain Inner Mongolia accounts for more than 60% of China's sunflower cultivation area, and its 2025 sunflower seed exports reached roughly 463,400 tons, worth about US$748 million. That volume is not the hard part. Keeping a black sunflower seed's spec intact from field to roasting line is. Here is what actually travels with every lot of food-grade black sunflower seeds 361 or T6. 1. Origin and crop year Black sunflower seeds 361 and T6 are sourced from Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, and current supply is the 2026 crop year. Chinese confectionery-grade production concentrates on larger kernel sizes, largely grown in the saline-alkali fields around Bayannur, Inner Mongolia. Origin is why the seed looks the way it does; it is not a marketing line. 2. Spec is a number, not an adjective "Sweet and natural" describes the taste. It is not a purchase spec. The measurable ones are moisture 9–10%, impurity under 0.5%, erosion seeds under 0.5%, and mildew seeds under 1%. Those four numbers are the ones most likely to shift between loading and roasting, which is why they belong on the arriving inspection. 3. Pack format decides who can use it Both 361 and T6 ship as raw, food-grade seed in 20/25 kg plastic or paper bags — a manufacturing and roasting format, not a retail one. For OEM programmes the bag can carry the customer's own logo, with MOQ from 5 mt and a 10–15 day lead time against a monthly capacity of 2,500 mt. 4. Storage closes the loop The stated storage condition is a cool, dry indoor warehouse at normal temperature and low humidity. Impurity control is the special requirement in this application, and sorting and packing equipment sit on the same line. Why it matters Roasted sunflower seeds took 65.9% of global packaged sunflower-seed revenue in 2024. Every one of those packs starts as a bulk bag. Inner Mongolia Chengtai Food Co., Ltd., a seed processor founded in 2013 in Hanggin Rear Banner, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia, runs the same chain and holds ISO 9001 and Halal certification; roughly 80% of its output is exported to the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe. A documented supply programme of 30,000 mt over two years served processors and distributors for wholesale and roasting applications. The takeaway The black-and-white stripe and the sweet taste are what the consumer notices on the shelf. The buyer's job is holding moisture, impurity, erosion and mildew inside their bands from Xinjiang field to roasting line. Which checkpoint tends to break first — origin, spec tolerance, or transit and storage? #SunflowerSeeds #BlackSunflowerSeeds #FoodManufacturing #SupplyChain #SnackProduction

🍊 After 35+ years supplying seaweed extract to citrus growers, packers, and exporters across 40+ countries, one metric keeps coming back in our partner conversations: °Brix — the soluble solids that decide whether a mandarin lands in the export-grade bin or the juice bin. 📈 Why Brix drives commercial value Higher soluble solids at harvest typically translate into better taste perception, longer shelf life, and a stronger position in export grading. For processing buyers, Brix also lifts juice yield per tonne of fruit. 🔬 The mechanism — why seaweed extract shows up at fruit filling Alginic acid and mannitol from enzymatically hydrolyzed seaweed extract support carbohydrate translocation during the sugar accumulation phase. Amino acids and betaines help the tree maintain osmotic balance during heat or drought spikes. Natural cytokinins contribute to more uniform cell division, which usually shows up as more uniform fruit size at harvest. ⚖️ What we observe across citrus partner trials (under controlled trial conditions, across orange / mandarin / pomelo programs in different climate zones): A modest upward shift in average °Brix in treated plots vs. untreated controls. A modest lift in average single-fruit weight in treated plots vs. untreated controls. More uniform fruit size at harvest, supporting packhouse grading efficiency. 🌍 At Seadom, we don't publish a single fixed number — soil, variety, climate, and program intensity all change the result. What we do share on request is the qualitative trial notes, the protocol behind them, and direct grower references. 📩 DM us for the citrus trial-summary PDF and partner contacts. 🌐 Or visit our website to download the citrus technical sheet and product portfolio. www.seadom.com.cn #SeaweedFertilizer #CitrusFarming #Biostimulant #FruitQuality #GrowersOfInstagram #OrganicFarming #FarmLife #QingdaoSeadom
