Mentoring- Experience Sharing

As an executive we are often donating money or in some cases time to our communities, company or causes we feel we can support.  These efforts are desperately needed to keep growing and learning as a society.  However, often we lose sight of the individuals that make up the company or community where we live and work.

Many individuals do not have a network of professional resources that can provide guidance on career development.  A mentoring program formal or informal can make a tremendous impact on our future talent.  Taking 30 minutes of your valuable time every month to sit with an individual can provide many years of knowledge and guidance to help shape our future.  Preparation from both parties is critical, you must prepare topics to discuss that are impactful and the individual must take action after the mentoring session to reinforce the learning.  Over time, the seeds we plant will grow to shape the future leadership in our country.

I am personally rewarded and challenged to mentor a number of individuals on my team at Epicor and in the community.  I have enjoyed watching the future talent of America grow and learn from my past success.  Hopefully, they will continue to develop and share their time with others.
