Police release disturbing video of synagogue attack; Jewish students speak out about campus antisemitism; and more
'You are going to die for the Jews,' said Belleville shooting suspect: police
Police shared a seconds-long video in which a man can be heard yelling, followed by the sound of two loud shots outside of the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville, Ont., on Sunday. The evidence collected confirms suspect Sean Ward’s intent was to specifically target the Jewish community, the police chief said.
Jewish students say they have come across 'Heil Hitler' salutes, antisemitic graffiti on Canadian university campuses
“When our highest student governing body treats the safety and inclusion of Jewish students as an open political question rather than an enforceable right, it signals to the entire university that our safety and inclusion are negotiable,” says one Jewish student at McMaster University. A recent report on campus antisemitism found that more than nine in 10 Jewish students have experienced or seen antisemitism on campus over the past year.

Mark Carney says he prepared for the risk that Trump might order U.S. to invade Canada: 'That’s just risk management'
“I think you have a responsibility in these roles to look at extreme tail risk,” the prime minister told The New York Times in an wide-ranging interview, using a term from the financial world that refers to a scenario that is considered unlikely but not impossible.
Child murders report says Canada's courts are prioritizing 'parental contact' over safety
Proponents of proposed changes to the Divorce Act say that in cases involving allegations of domestic violence, alienation claims are being weaponized and used as a legal tactic by parents — mostly fathers accused of abuse — to discredit the other parent.
Terry Glavin: Donald Trump reaps the spoils of a global dumpster fire
“To the victor belong the spoils,” the U.S. president told the United Nations General Assembly this week. Glavin says Trump meant the comment as a rationale for his “expropriation of Venezuela’s oil wealth,” but it “serves just as well to explain quite a lot about the stubborn reluctance of America’s traditional allies to throw themselves behind Trump’s calamitous misadventures in the Strait of Hormuz.”
Don't remember this kind of anti semitism under Harper
Horrible
Thank you National Post, for this information. I had never heard of this term “Extreme Tail Risk” being used in a situation like this that Mark Carney used in his interview. If he is saying that it has a different meaning in the financial world, he must have learned this definition in his post-secondary years, because here in Edmonton, where Mark Carney went to High School, it has a different meaning. We also usually just say ‘ETR’.
