These 30th-anniversary Pokémon guitars are gorgeous and gorgeous-sounding.

Sadly, they’re so limited that they’re only available through a lottery. But these red and green Fenders feature sprites and pixel art from the original games under a transparent, tinted finish, plus a built-in bit crusher for authentic 8-bit tones.

Curry Barker used a Surface Laptop Ultra to help make his new YouTube short.

He edited the entire “Mama Bear” film while the laptop was unplugged, according to a behind-the-scenes video from Microsoft that also includes the claim that the computer sees a “less than 1% drop in performance when unplugged.”

That said, a footnote in the video says that the editing was “not performed on a single battery charge.”

Refurbished Nintendo Switch OLED consoles for $180 is a good deal.

The Nintendo Switch OLED is kind of like the Switch 1.5. It offers better battery life compared to the original, not to mention a much better kickstand, and obviously, an amazing OLED screen (something not even the Switch 2 has). While no longer the best Switch in terms of speed, you can grab a refurbished model with white Joy-Con at Best Buy in “good” condition with a 90-day warranty for $179.99 (originally $399.99).

Sony’s new glasses-free display puts 3D avatars on your desk.

The company already makes spatial reality displays for professional applications like medical imaging, but its new ELF-MN1 will target consumers when it launches in Japan on December 11th for around $343. Powered by a connected smartphone or PC, the 6-inch, 3,840 x 2,160-pixel display uses eye-tracking to create a convincing stereoscopic image that can be viewed at up to a 25-degree angle off the center of the screen.

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is just a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen

It’s thinner, lighter, and has an incredible OLED display, but after all this time, the touchscreen feels like an afterthought.

Motorola’s Signature new look arrives on November 5th.

The strange-looking Signature 27 — an Android flagship poised to rival the S26 Ultra, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip and Bang & Olufsen speakers — is nearly here. Motorola says it’ll reveal the rest of the phone next week. Will we find out Graphene’s software support plans then too?

Today’s Vergecast: The touchscreen MacBook Apple said it wouldn’t make.

Steve Jobs once said touchscreen laptops were a terrible idea. Now Apple is shipping one. The Verge’s Antonio Di Benedetto tells us all about the new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR, how MacOS is changing for touch, why a laptop user might want a touchscreen, and whether MacBook and iPad are destined to become one.

The gadget giveaway pile is shrinking — should I restock it?

Would you believe I’ve only got 14 more prize packs to give away? Not 14 prizes, 14 packs, but I started with 31 so we’re more than halfway there. Thing is, I’ve got more items I’ll need to giveaway or drop at charity thrift because The Verge doesn’t keep the gadgets we test. You can enter our giveaway each week — so long as you do before each deadline of 9AM ET Wednesday. Tell a friend!

JerryRig the Trump phone.

JerryRigEverything belatedly got hold of a Trump phone for a midterm special durability test, including a blunt recounting of the president’s track record so far. It features more evidence that the T1 Phone is an HTC in disguise, including a repeat of iFixit’s clever trick of swapping motherboards to prove the phones are identical inside and out.

Just a smidge thinner.

The new touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro’s redesigned chassis is only slightly thinner than the Mini LED model — especially comparing the 14-inchers, shown here. It’s when you pick them up that you really notice and can appreciate the lighter weight.

Your wallet will be much lighter too.

iFi’s wireless headphone dongle can transmit audio to your car’s stereo, too.

Similar to Twelve South’s recently launched Airfly View dongle that can connect wireless headphones to non-Bluetooth devices, iFi is introducing a new version of its UP Travel dongle that can wirelessly receive audio, too. The $129 UP Travel Max adds Bluetooth 5.4 and support for the aptX Lossless codec, plus Auracast for broadcasting to an unlimited number of listeners with compatible headphones.

Correction: The Airfly View can also wirelessly receive audio.

These are the touch settings for the new OLED MacBook Pro.

The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display has a section in System Settings for Touch Display controls. Much of it is for toggling similar gestures to the trackpad: Mission Control, Show Apps, Show Desktop, etc. You can turn off touchscreen funcions entirely, but that’s buried in Accessibility settings.

The first IP-certified Beats headphones just received their first discount.

The Beats 360 have only been out for about a month, but Amazon is already offering $21 off the sweat-resistant ANC headphones, bringing the price down to $329 for a limited time. The current discount applies only to the black model, but hey, you can always swap the knit ear cups for something more colorful if you’re feeling adventurous. Read our review.

Apple’s polishing cloth adds critical support for the new touchscreen MacBook Pro.

Now that pixel-pushers, editors, musicians, and artists will have their fingers all over the new MacBook Pro’s screen, Apple has updated the listing for its $9 polishing cloth to include support for eradicating fingerprints from that PROLED XDR display.
