In the question If $a=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5+a}}~;~b=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5+b}}~;~c=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5-c}}~;~d=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5-d}}$. Then $abcd$? the title is formatted like this:

If $a=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5+a}}~;~b=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5+b}}~;~c=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5-c}}~;~d=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5-d}}$. Then $abcd$?

and would show like this in the post (seemingly correct when previewing this question, but broken when posted):

If $a=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5+a}}~;~b=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5+b}}~;~c=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5-c}}~;~d=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5-d}}$. Then $abcd$?

but in the title, it shows broken like this instead: the end of the title reads "... d. Then abcd? = sqrt(4-sqrt(5-d))"

broken title

$\begingroup$ @Shaun As shown in the image, the title displays broken: the end reads "... d. Then abcd? = sqrt(4-sqrt(5-d))" instead. $\endgroup$ Commented Oct 23 at 10:28

    $\begingroup$ I'm not sure this works, but try: $a=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5+a}};$ $b=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5+b}};$ $c=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5-c}};$ $d=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5-d}}.$ $\endgroup$ Commented Oct 23 at 10:33

$\begingroup$ It's because you did it all in one set of $s $\endgroup$ Commented Oct 23 at 10:34

$\begingroup$ By the way it is not my question, I stumbled on it when reading and wanted to know how it can be fixed. $\endgroup$ Commented Oct 23 at 10:36

$\begingroup$ This seems a bit similar to the problems reported here: Multiline MathJax on title. BTW there is now a pending suggested edit to that title. $\endgroup$ Commented Oct 23 at 10:44

As suggested in comments, putting each nested radical in a separate pair of $s seems to fix the title.

New title:

If $a=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5+a}}$; $b=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5+b}}$; $c=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5-c}}$; $d=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5-d}}$. Then $abcd = $?

Old title:

If $a=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5+a}}~;~b=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5+b}}~;~c=\sqrt{4+\sqrt{5-c}}~;~d=\sqrt{4-\sqrt{5-d}}$. Then $abcd$?

$\begingroup$ I've made a correction. Math formatting should be used for math. The punctuation (and spaces) are not part of the math, and should not be part of the mathematical formatting. $\endgroup$ Commented Oct 23 at 12:13
