The Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T585) on Android 8.1.0 undergoing intermittent digital interaction from these very fingers is the one and same as the one listed in Find my Device, no location given for it, unfortunately. "Play Sound" comes through loud and clear.

Age may be a factor, given that it is (correctly) registered on the first of April 2021. It was not registered for location services any time before that date. Any hope for a location?

For SM-T858 I only find tablet devices that have been released in 2016. With latest update Android 8.1 should be installed is that correct? Regarding your first sentence: is this a complicated way saying that the tablet in question is the one you have currently in use (e.g. for writing this question). If not I don't understand this sentence (sorry not a native speaker). Commented Apr 4, 2025 at 11:13
  • Yes, "Age is a factor", version 8.10. Question edited, sorry! Commented Apr 4, 2025 at 11:35
  • Could you mention the current settings for any location-related settings in the Android Settings? Also, is the Location permission enabled on the Find My Device app? Commented Apr 6, 2025 at 3:53
  • There's not too much, High Accuracy on, Send Last Location turned off in Security. Update: Resolved! Commented Apr 6, 2025 at 5:18

Clearing cache & data on the newer Tab A8 seemed to resolved the issue in "Find My Device" because of Google's internal handling of the account there.

The password for the Google account was out of date, the Google Passwords Manager never picked it up for some reason.

  • Point of interest: Find Me Now never had an issue with the A8, even with the unsynchronized password. Commented Apr 6, 2025 at 5:33
