If you’ve followed along for a while, you know one of the most common questions I get is: Are there any eco-friendly, plant-based cleaning products that actually work? Not just something that smells nice or looks “clean,” but a product that can truly tackle grease, grime, and everyday messes.
That’s exactly why I wanted to test the new home launch of the Plant Therapy’s home collection, especially the cleaning concentrate. I was pleasantly surprised how well this worked!

What I Liked About This Eco-Friendly Cleaning Concentrate:

Plant Therapy is one of my favorite essential oil brands. They have been popular with readers after several of our DIY cleaning recipes have gone viral like our homemade refrigerator cleaner.
One of the first things I appreciated was the design. This system uses a concentrated formula that you dilute with water in a reusable glass spray bottle. This is very sustainable because it reduces plastic waste and cuts down on unnecessary packaging and shipping weight. It’s a simple switch that makes a noticeable difference if you’re trying to create a more eco-conscious home without adding extra steps to your routine.

I tested this on kitchen counters, sticky residue, and even grease splatter, and it performed just as well as many conventional cleaners I’ve used in the past. It cut through buildup easily, wiped clean without leaving a film, and didn’t require multiple passes to get the job done.

The Chemistry Behind Why It Works
From a chemistry perspective, that performance makes sense.
The formula relies on plant-derived surfactants, such as decyl glucoside and caprylyl/capryl glucoside. These ingredients are derived from sugars. They have a unique structure with two ends: one that attracts water and one that binds to oils and dirt. This allows them to lift grime off surfaces so it can be easily wiped away. It’s the same cleaning mechanism as traditional cleaners, but sourced from plant-based ingredients.
It also includes ingredients like citric acid and sodium citrate, which play an important supporting role. These help break down mineral deposits and adjust the pH of the solution to make the surfactants more effective. If you’ve ever struggled with hard water spots or dull residue, this is the kind of chemistry that helps address those issues without being overly harsh.
Then there’s the essential oil blend, which includes oils like blood orange, cinnamon, rosemary, and eucalyptus. While they do give the cleaner a fresh, natural scent, they’re not just there for fragrance. Many of these oils contain compounds like terpenes that can help dissolve grease and contribute mild antimicrobial properties.
Ingredients This Concentrate Avoids
What makes this product stand out is that it manages to balance all of these elements without compromise. It uses plant-based ingredients, avoids things like ammonia, bleach, and synthetic fragrances. Yet it still delivers the kind of results most people expect from conventional cleaners. That combination can be surprisingly hard to find.

If you’ve been searching for an eco-friendly concentrate that keeps up with real-life messes, this is one worth trying. This collection is both eco-friendly and effective! They have many products in their new home collection I look forward to testing out next.
