I met this expression in a conversation between 2 characters , X say thanks to Y after Y had helped her with life advices and cheer her up. Is this another way to say : "Thank you for what you've done for me" or it has other nuances ? Hope someone could clarify its meaning clearly.

X「いよいよ酔っ払ってきたようだな、横にでもなれっ」

Y「そうするか……ふぅ、いい気分だ」

X「……世話になったな、Yよ」

Y「何か？」

X「わ、私はもう行くと言ったのだ！」

Y「うむ、好きにしろ」

X「あぁ、そうだな………」

X「……好きにするとも」

とも is a sentence end particle that strongly affirms something someone has just said. 「もちろんだとも」 is a common way to use it. It has a slightly sophisticated sound to it and is somewhat rare outside fiction.

Y has just said 「好きにしろ」'Do as you like', so X replies 「好きにするとも」'Oh, I will.'
