I've restarted doing reviews (on the main Super User site, not the meta one), and although most review features are working fine, there seems to be something wrong with the suggested-edits review queue.

Every time I try to open this, this is what I see:

I'm working on a Windows 11 computer, using Google Chrome as a web browser, browsing incognito.

I have no idea if this problem occurs on other systems/web browsers.

Edit: new test
In the meantime, I've done something else: I clicked on the "Review" button but instead of choosing "Suggested Edits" I went to the top right, choosing "all queues". I chose a suggested edit task and as a result a review item appeared. When I tried to approve it, I got the mentioned error message again.

For what it's worth, the suggested edit queue on the main site is currently empty. The last item in the queue was reviewed 5 hours ago. I can open the queue without issues. Commented Oct 31, 2025 at 13:40

@DavidPostill: thanks for the quick reply, but I do believe there is a problem: this issue is appearing already for several weeks, I'm flagging it as seems not to disappear. Is there anything I can do? (As I'm browsing incognito, I don't see the sense of deleting my history) Commented Oct 31, 2025 at 13:42

I could reproduce the issue. The main /review page says there's 1 pending review item. Now that I visit the page again, it's indeed empty. The API says there are no pending items. Commented Oct 31, 2025 at 14:02
  • You get this error when the queue is empty, but the cache of the number of items in the review has not been updated, when I looked the queue is indeed empty. Commented Nov 28, 2025 at 23:53
  • @Ramhound: I assume that cache is not present on my computer, because I'm always surfing incognito style. Is there a way the website developers can empty that cache? Commented Nov 29, 2025 at 11:35
  • @Dominique - There is also a cache on the server to save resources, the cache, isn’t necessarily client side Commented Nov 29, 2025 at 13:11

@Ramhound: hence my proposal: as you can see, this question is almost a month old. Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a scheduled task, flushing the server caches on a monthly basis? Commented Nov 30, 2025 at 12:21

    @Dominique - That’s a good question for Meta Stack Exchange Commented Nov 30, 2025 at 13:10

  • I've been getting errors in the Edit queue for months. Sometimes it's the "someone already processed the one edit pending", but another I see frequently is when I take an action on an edit and submit it I'll get another error. If I reload the page it shows my action and I can proceed, or if I re-click through the Edit action options it'll either succeed or go to the same error again. The EDIT queue has some sort of error for a while now. Commented Dec 10, 2025 at 21:27

(This is not an answer. Just a bit of additional information, but too much for a comment.)

I've noticed this as well. And it's an issue I exclusively witness with SU's Suggested Edits review queue.
Other SE sites' Suggested Edit review queues? No problem.
Other SU review queues? Also, not an issue.

I've experimented a little bit, and it seems to me that it's often the first entry in the queue that gets bugged.

When the queue has more than one entry..

enter image description here

.. I get the usual error message when I want to review the first item...

enter image description here

.. but when I hit F5, it takes me to the next item.

enter image description here

If the queue only has a single entry and I hit F5, I usually get the message that the queue has been cleared.

This is not the only issue I have with the Suggested Edits review queue, but I haven't noticed a pattern so far. And F5 usually also resolves those error states.

In my case, as there generally is only one entry in the queue, pressing <kbd>F5</kbd> tells me there's nothing to do 😊 Commented Nov 3, 2025 at 10:08
