In Community season 2, episode 14, "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons," the study group plays D&D without Pierce, who crashes the game and deliberately sabotages it. Pierce attacks Chang's character, "Brutalitops the Magician," and rolls a critical hit that decapitates him. As Chang hands over his character sheet and walks away while fading from existence, there's this haunting, Chinese-sounding dramatic ballad sung by a woman that plays over the scene.

What was that song?

A commenter on the Tunefind page for the episode claims that Ludwig Göransson, the composer for Community, stated in a now-deleted Twitter post that White Sea (Morgan Kibby) was the artist who performed the song. Since there doesn't seem to be an archived copy of that post, is there any other evidence that confirms this? I'd also like to know whether White Sea composed the song or if Ludwig Göransson did.

I presume it was written and performed specifically for the episode. Commented Dec 25, 2025 at 1:25
  • Yeah seems like a parody of a cliche sad cue from fantasy movie music Commented Dec 25, 2025 at 4:20

@blobbymcblobby Interesting. If the commenter on that Tunefind page is correct, Ludwig Göransson, the composer for Community, stated in a now-deleted Twitter post that White Sea was the artist who performed the song. Commented Dec 25, 2025 at 10:16

I'm curious if White Sea, who is also a composer, composed the song or if Ludwig Göransson did. Commented Dec 25, 2025 at 13:27
