The characteristic sound of Reggaeton is called dembow. They took it from a song called "Dembow" by Shabba Ranks (1990), but that's a Dancehall song, not a reggaeton song. Many says the first album to feature the dembow is Playero 34 or Playero 37. Playero 34 was originally from 1990-91 and had a re-edition and I understand they added songs in it in 1994. Playero 37 is from 1991-92. Either way, in one of those 2 albums is likely the first reggaeton song to feature the characteristic sound of Reggaeton. Anyone knows which song it is?
