My cat has a wound on his head, I believe from fighting his brother.

At first it felt like a scab and was covered by fur.

This morning the fur was gone and it looks like this. Should I be concerned currently?

Looks like a scab was knocked loose. Doesn't look infected. I'd talk to the vet about whether there is a topical antibiotic that is cat-safe, and whether/how this should be bandaged. There are books, and occasionally classes, about pet first aid; you might ask the vet for recommendations on that too. Commented Nov 3 at 4:48
  • Thank you very much. I have rang the vet this morning. I posted here as was unsure if I needed an emergency vet. Thank you Commented Nov 3 at 9:42

It's understandable to be worried, head wounds in cats are common after scuffles, but they do deserve attention. A missing patch of fur with an open or moist-looking spot can indicate an abscess starting to form, especially if the original scab was actually dried discharge under the fur. Abscesses from bite wounds often worsen over 24~72 hours.

You should monitor closely for swelling, heat, pus, a bad smell or if your cat becomes lethargic or painful. Even if those signs aren't present yet, its generally best to have a veterinarian examine the wound, because they can properly clean it and check for infection and start give antibiotics if needed. Keep the area clean, prevent scratching (maybe with a cone collar if scratching becomes extreme), and seek prompt care if it changes or worsens.
