I used Synaptic to install the Dolphin file manager under my Parrot OS (home edition) and Dolphin displays every second line in the filename list with a black background, i.e. it is impossible to read the name of the file.

Very strange. I am using a dark theme, but changing to a lighter theme does not seem to affect this anomaly in Dolphin. Also, my preferred one-click setting does not work with Dolphin, and I have not found a one-click option in Dolphin's settings. Perhaps Dolphin is not meant to be used with Parrot OS and Mate?

  • 'blacked out' was an inept expression on my part. Sorry. What I mean is that the background of every second filename / line is black, making the black (foreground) letters invisible. I have been using Dolphin with KDE in Arch for many years, but never seen this. Commented Jan 2 at 14:12
  • aha! sounds like a graphics or theming problem! Interesting that this isn't dependent on the theme. Commented Jan 2 at 14:13
  • Agreed. When I use Dolphin's filter, the filtered filenames become visible, barely. Likewise when I click on a black filename / line. Cumbersome. Commented Jan 2 at 14:21
  • that sounds like something hard-codes the background color so that a theme can't override it. Strange. Commented Jan 2 at 14:23
