Cassie Young shared this🦷📈 Monday means it's time for the Primary Venture Partners' GTM role of the week and today I'm looking to my NYC ENTERPRISE SALES network for referrals for an awesome opportunity to join our breakout portfolio company Dandy as Senior Director, Enterprise Sales🦷📈 Dandy is backed by some of the best venture firms in the country and is on a mission to modernize the $400B+ the dental industry and absolutely crushing that pursuit; I regularly tell people that it's the fastest-growing company they haven't heard about. (‼️Editor's Note: while I'm not allowed to have "favorite" portcos, let me just say that many of the most outstanding operators I know work at this incredible company‼️) This particular role is a fantastic opportunity for a senior sales leader to build and lead an exciting new motion aimed at bringing Dandy's world-class dental lab solution to large dental practices (DSOs) and enterprise clients. You'll own the GTM strategy and lead a team of Managers, Account Executives and BDRs while partnering cross-functionally with Dandy's post-sales teams (Customer Onboarding/Training, Account Management), Marketing, Product, RevOps, Data, and Technology. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of sales experience, 5+ years of which should be specifically in the enterprise segment with 1-2 years of people/team management. Dental industry experience and evidence of operating in a high-velocity environment are big pluses, but not required. 📍 New York, NY. This is an in-office role at Dandy's NYC HQ, with frequent travel required. ✏️ APPLY HERE: https://lnkd.in/geyq7rqj

Cassie Young shared thisI've had the privilege of a front row seat to 1mind's GTM team growth since leading their seed round 2.5 years ago, and they continue to find new ways to blow my mind each passing month. I was thrilled when Liz Madsen told me she closed her first enterprise deal in 60 days, and officially had a 🤯 moment when I learned Chase Masciorini closed his first ($140k ACV) one in just 16 days! I've said it before and I'll say it over and over again: no one tells a company's story better than the customers themselves, and that's undoubtedly a huge part of what's powering these amazing results. Make sure to check out the video clip Liz shared from the CMO of Samsara about 1mind's incredible impact. Most importantly, 1mind is HIRING! Join the fun: https://lnkd.in/eHw-PgjeCassie Young shared thisThere's nothing better than stumbling across a LinkedIn post from a CMO talking about the impact your product is having on their business. After hearing what Meagen E. (CMO Samsara) had to say about their 1mind Superhuman Sammi doubling the pipeline she's driving QoQ and how she's thinking about pipe efficiency and revenue per employee, my teammates Mónica Cottrell and Chase Masciorini were chatting about the impact we feel from that on the rep side. We covered things like: - What it's like to receive a Superhuman lead vs a form fill (night and day) - How the sales cycle is shortened as a result -- Chase closed his first deal in 16 days! - What place AI has on a live call We even brought in our fave coworker Nigel (AI Superhuman Sales Engineer) to share his POV on how Superhumans are changing revenue per employee math for the better. Link to Meagen's video that inspired this in the comments.

Cassie Young shared this❓ Every enterprise AI founder is getting the same investor question right now: what happens when the labs come for you?❓ Emily Man, Nick Daley and I built a 2x2 to answer it. One axis: can today's models already do the job out of the box? The other: does the value come from raw model capability, or from the harness and context built around it? The left half belongs to the labs — marketing copy, transcription, and the model-dominant work like coding. The right half is where independent applications can still exist: integrations into systems nobody has touched in fifteen years, domain ontologies, playbooks, evals, an endless tail of exceptions, and accountability when a decision goes wrong. But "can exist" and "will win" are very different, and that's where most of this debate stops too early. Harness intensity tells you where an independent application layer is possible. It doesn't tell you which company in that quadrant becomes durable. What does is whether the product turns accumulated production experience into measurably better judgment. 🧠 We call this Expertise Power. Raw intelligence is becoming abundant. Expertise isn't. Every agent starts like a new grad: all the context, none of the judgment. The companies that win will build a scorebook — what the system decided, how an expert graded it, and what actually happened — then compound those learnings across every customer they deploy into. 💡 SaaS spent 25 years selling access to expertise it never actually put in the product. "We'll show you what great looks like" was a sales promise, but it was ultimately delivered as a professional services line item. AI finally makes this promise truly possible — which is why we think the application layer is about to get a lot MORE interesting, not less. 🥱 "The application layer is dead" is the laziest take in enterprise AI right now. Amazon owned the infrastructure, launched Redshift, and watched Snowflake build a category-defining business on top of AWS. Microsoft owned the OS, the productivity suite, and the distribution, launched Dynamics, and lost CRM to a company with none of it. Link to our full thesis in comments below, including how we underwrite Expertise Power at Seed and the shapes of companies we're looking to back. Please hit us up at enterprise@primary.vc if this fits what you're building. ⬇️⬇️

Cassie Young shared this🏗️📈 Monday means it's time for the Primary Venture Partners' GTM role of the week and today I'm looking to my BAY AREA MID-MARKET NETWORK for referrals for a fantastic opportunity to join our portfolio company Bobyard as Sales Manager. Construction is one of the largest industries out there, but also one of the least technologically advanced. Firms spend $60B+ annually just creating cost estimates for bids, yet estimating is still the single greatest constraint on contractor revenue: it's slow, error-prone, and limited by capacity. Bobyard changes this by using computer vision and language models to automate takeoffs and estimating, making cost estimates up to 10× faster while eliminating costly mistakes. By turning hours of manual work into minutes and driving unparalleled accuracy in its outputs, Bobyard helps contractors get bids out the door faster, win more jobs, and focus on what they do best: building. Bobyard's sales manager position is a great opportunity for candidates with 5+ years of full-cycle B2B SaaS experience (with a track record of 100%+ quota attainment) and 2+ years successfully managing a team of quota-carrying AEs. Comfort selling to technical, operational buyers is a must, and any background in construction or field services is certainly a big plus. 📍 San Francisco, CA 🏢 Full-time, in-person 4 days/week at Bobyard HQ, non-negotiable ✏️ APPLY HERE: https://lnkd.in/gNrUQVKG

Cassie Young reposted thisCassie Young reposted thisThis week was electric. More than 1,500 of tech’s leading builders and investors filled the halls for Primary’s biggest NYC Tech Summit yet. Onstage, Gavin Uberti, Patrick O'Shaughnessy, Jeanne DeWitt Grosser, Shardul Shah, Parag Agrawal, Cristóbal Valenzuela, Matthew Prince, Apoorv Agrawal, Tuhin Srivastava, Lauren Makler, Gabriel Stengel, Keith Enright, Aaron Rubin, Dan Shipper and Lance Armstrong shared their insights on this consequential moment in tech. Across the venue, our partners Replit, Gunderson Dettmer, and Hyperagent created hands-on experiences, while some of tech’s most exceptional companies were represented throughout the room. We also sealed the community’s boldest predictions inside a time capsule, to be opened at next year’s Summit. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day what it was. Cassie Young shared this🥇 It's "Super Bowl" week for Primary Venture Partners 🥇 On Monday our acclaimed "On the Business" series for senior women execs wrapped its final Mastery Day of 2026. Yesterday we convened our inaugural Enterprise AI Forum at JPMorganChase. And today, 1,500+ founders, investors and top operators from both coats take over Pier Sixty for Primary's annual NYC Summit: https://primarysummit.vc/ 🚀🚀🚀 .... but I've got some even more exciting news to add to the docket: yesterday my newest investment Zero came out of stealth, announcing the $10.3M seed round we led earlier this year following their pre-seed led by 20VC. with participation from Inception Fund, Defiant and notable angels from Lovable, PostHog, Langdock and more 🚀🚀🚀 Let's state the obvious: everyone hates their CRM. CRMs were built as systems of record, not systems of action, and two decades later not much has changed. Sure, everything shipped in the category in the AI era has made record-keeping faster with co-pilots and auto-fills, but the actual work of deciding what to do next still hasn't left your employees' heads. Zero's agents build the lists, run the outbound, keep the records current, and even flag customer usage and health issues long before any QBR data pull would. Managing the end-to-end customer relationship becomes truly invisible. While many upstarts are trying their hands at rebuilding core systems with FDEs, Zero's bet is the opposite: if the software needs someone sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with the customer to work, the software isn't finished. GTM teams don't need a better or "AI-native" CRM; they need a better way to work, full stop. Zero's co-founders Tuomo Riekki and Santtu Koivumäki previously built and scaled Smartly to $100M in ARR, spending a decade inside the exact stack they're now retiring. Having lived the pain themselves, they understand the problem statement at a level few founders do, and their deep commitment to both product excellence and customer outcomes gives us tremendous conviction in their ability to redefine what CRM really means. Congrats to the Zero team on all the work to date and all that's to come -- GO TIME!! And if you're floating around NYC Summit today, be sure to say hello to Tuomo and Santtu in-person! ...and yes, Nick Daley, Jason Gelman and I presented our term sheet with Los Tacos No. 1... something hard to find in Helsinki!!

Cassie Young shared this🌶️🔥Yesterday's NYC "On the Business" Mastery Day served up enough hot takes to keep the room buzzing well into happy hour... it's not every day I get to remind a room that "karma is a bitch" during my remarks!🔥🌶️ Primary Venture Partners welcomed 85 powerhouse women execs to Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP for our final 2026 installment and as always, the vulnerability was real, the conversations were sharp, and the laughter was very loud. Highlights: 💁♀️ Yours Truly opened with my Core Four framework for what separates the best execs, and how those traits are evolving in the era of AI. The headline? GET PILLED OR GET OUT. The harder questions: Are you in the right seat to maximize this career chapter? Do you know if you're working for a grower or an earner? Have you sanity-checked the "path to the math" behind the # you're signing up for? Would you bet against your CEO? 💰 Sruthi Lanka, CFO at Public, named the thing nobody says out loud: "the look" the finance team exchanges the second an exec leaves the room that immediately signals whether they think you get it or not (and how to change their opinion!). 📈 Amanda Davenport, Head of Marketing at Dandy, traced six years of scale — hers and the company's — and how she kept setting herself up for the next role and the next challenge. Very tactical advice on landing the highest-impact seats. 🧠 Emily Man, Partner at Primary, delivered the definitive Enterprise AI glossary: the 10 terms leaders must know to actually understand AI right now — harnesses, systems of action, ontologies and everything in between. Most of them get used far more often than they get understood. 👻 Rebecca Price, Partner at Primary and seasoned Chief People Officer, and Agatha Kluk, Partner at Orrick, told legal ghost stories — a set of cautionary tales about what leaders must consider before committing to ANYTHING with their employers, customers, or employees. 🐝 Preeya Goenka 🐝, Chief Customer Officer at beehiiv, on how the team rewired its own thinking: no hiring until you can prove AI can't do the job. She also went deep on what they've built in-house, including a CS health engine that knocks the socks off anything I've seen on the market. 💊 Shensi Ding, Co-Founder & CEO at Merge, and I closed with a fireside that got spicy — NYC vs. SF, the reality that parents have to work a little harder to keep pace with what's happening right now, etc. Another action-packed day. Huge thanks to our partners at Orrick Tech for their ongoing sponsorship and to my right hand Annabelle Kim and Team Primary for bringing the heat every time. 👀👀 Keep your eyes peeled for the full 2027 "On the Business" calendar - lots of programs between both NYC and SF - in the coming weeks 👀👀 ...and if you're in NYC and free tomorrow, we still have a handful of spots for Primary's annual NYC Summit, our so-called Super Bowl. Join us here! https://primarysummit.vc/

Cassie Young shared this📊💰 Monday means it's time for the Primary Venture Partners' GTM role of the week and today I'm looking to my NYC ENTERPRISE SALES network for referrals for an awesome opportunity to join our portfolio company Maybern as an Enterprise Account Executive 💰📊 Private funds manage $15 trillion in capital and are still running on spreadsheets 🤯🤯Maybern is the operating system built to fix that: automating the complex workflows that keep fund CFOs buried in Excel and enabling them with real-time analytics and a single source of truth. Maybern raised a $50M Series B led by Battery Ventures late last year (with Primary doubling-down!) and their early growth has been nothing short of astonishing. The Enterprise AE role will play a key role in contributing to their continued acceleration. This is a great opportunity for a senior AE with 5+ years of enterprise B2B sales experience and a strong understanding of the banking or asset management space (or a demonstrated ability to sell into either market). 📍 Location: NYC (In Office) ✏️ Apply here: https://lnkd.in/eUxt9Nkg

Cassie Young reacted on thisCassie Young reacted on thisThis week I heard our CEO, Amanda Kahlow share a number that I've seen before. That about 1% of companies that go public in the US were founded or led by women when the bell gets rung. Then she put it in terms nobody in the room will forget: in the animal world, a population that small is treated as one on the edge of extinction. Let that sink in and then consider the context of hearing this during the same week a woman is being dragged through the media for pursuing her case against Cornell university for something "sexual assault" doesn't begin to cover. Nearly two years later, she's still fighting to be taken seriously by her university and by prosecutors. There's the rhetoric around her story changing. What the law is. And more. We're taught to keep many things in separate boxes. In this case, one is a leadership stat for a conference stage. The other is a news story we don't talk about at work But these aren't different worlds. They're a a part of the same construct. The culture that decides a woman's company isn't worth backing is the same culture that decides a woman's account isn't worth believing. It shows up in a pitch meeting, in a promotion conversation, and on a college campus at 2 a.m. Women are asked to be twice as good to get half the seat at the table, and then asked to stay quiet about what it costs them to get home safely. Barack Obama said that if women ran every country in the world for two years, we'd see real improvement in just about everything. I believe him. We also don't need to wait for a world-stage experiment to act on it. We have power right now, in our own companies and our own networks. Fund women. Hire and promote women into the rooms where decisions get made. Hold men to the same standard you would hold women. Stop using the phrase "nice guy" to describe someone when you'd never say "oh, she's a nice girl." Believe women when they tell you what happened. Don't just make it safe to live, give them the room you're already taking up. I'm proud to work for a company led by a woman who says the hard numbers -- and a lot of other hard things out loud. She leads with intense vulnerability, she directly opines, she brings an energy that inspires every person to go beyond what they thought was their best level. She champions women. I have always done my best work, grown the most, and achieved the most when working for the right leader. Those have always been women. Champion women in every room, and in every part of their lives. Be an Amanda, not just a man.

Cassie Young liked thisCassie Young liked thisAt Primary, in-depth research and conversations with CISOs help shape what we incubate and where we invest in cyber. And for the first time, we’re excited to publish this work as a research series. We’re kicking things off with The Primary State of Insider Threat, which explores insider risk as AI reshapes who can be an insider and how security teams respond. Check out the full report in the comments. A big thank you to every cyber leader who shared their time and perspectives with us. Learning directly from you is one of my favorite parts of incubating, and I’m pumped to share what we learned and where we see the market heading. Let us know what you think! Cassie Young liked thisCassie Young liked thisOne of the most important parts of our work at Primary is talking to customers, practitioners, and researchers to try to triangulate what is coming, not just what is already here. Occasionally, we go deep on a particular market and codify our internal research as a way to inform our investing strategy. For the first time, we are sharing an amended version of this research publicly -- The Primary State of Insider Threat. We think insider threat is at an inflection point because of AI, and we are excited to share all the work we've done on that market. Huge shoutout to Doug Steinberg who leads our cyber research and insights efforts. If you have thoughts or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out! Full report in the comments.

Cassie Young liked thisCassie Young liked thisI never wanted the Patagonia vest, but damn I always thought venture capital was cool. When I was 26, the feeling was decidedly not mutual. I was rejected by a soul-crushing 35 VC funds. I decided to get my yah yahs out playing drums in two very politically incorrect bands before starting to grind as an entrepreneur. I learned how to hire, raise capital, hit payroll, acquire companies, suffer panic attacks, and mercifully engineer two exits. Twenty years building companies in the arena taught me how to speak founder. I could help people make sense of the 0 to 1. And I could empathize with the regular kicks to the nuts that is entrepreneurialism. So, in 2022 I gave myself the VC job no one else would. mu ventures is now 46 companies strong. We also built the Rec Room for deal sharing, Tap Night for meeting top-tier founders, and the Mu-niversal Get Down, our annual bacchanal. None of it feels like work. We’re now 5 years in, and I’m keepin’ the job baby! Today we closed Mu Ventures II, a $15.5M pre-seed and seed stage fund anchored by AngelList Asset Management, their quantitative fund of funds. These guys are brilliant, and their model for predicting future fund performance chose us. Their team reached out because our performance ranked top 3% of the hundreds of funds on their platform. We're incredibly thankful for their support, and the support of Dynamism Capital and our other 63 LPs. Now the most important part…. Founders - if you want a super competitive, fun-loving maniac that will never stop hustling for you, keep reading. We will evaluate you on the merits, not on your cap table. We don’t borrow conviction from anyone. We’ll treat you like a person, and not a return profile, because we kind of need to like you. Life is too short to back assholes. We're focused on Vertical AI, with plenty of marketplaces, CPG, and commerce infra in the portfolio. But mostly, we’re founder-obsessed, not category-constrained. Our sweet spot is $200-600k checks into pre-seed companies raising under $10m post and seed companies raising under $20m post. If you're one of the beautifully insane maniacs ripping friction out of something big, and you naturally attract talent, customers, and capital, come find me!

Early signals I’m seeing in healthtech & biotech right now Quick read. Very telling. -Teams are buying task removal, not “AI features.” If a product doesn’t eliminate a real manual step with an owner and a budget, it doesn’t survive procurement. -Longitudinal data is beating real-time dashboards. What buyers care about is reuse over time, not another live view that resets every quarter. -“Insight-only” platforms are stalling. If data doesn’t trigger a clinical, operational, or commercial decision, it’s getting deprioritized. -Security and compliance are entering the conversation earlier — quietly. Not as checkboxes, but as a test of whether the product can actually scale. -Vendor consolidation is happening without announcements. Tools aren’t being replaced because they’re bad, but because they add operational friction. -Pilots are being judged upfront. If no one owns rollout on day one, the pilot already failed. None of this is in decks yet. But it’s shaping what gets bought… and what gets dropped… this year. Curious what others are noticing on the buyer side.
