Chloe Quakenbush reposted thisChloe Quakenbush reposted thisEvery event manager is a project manager. Not every PM could call show stop with the crowd in. I have watched event managers move into corporate project management. They run circles around teams who've trained for years. Stakeholder management across 15 departments at once. Budgets that shift three times before the gates open. Timelines where "late" means the audience is already watching. Event managers learn to manage risk in real time, not in a quarterly review. They learn to communicate under pressure, not over email. They learn to lead teams who met each other 90 minutes ago. Project management frameworks teach you to track progress. Events teach you to make decisions when there is no time to track anything. The skills are the same. The speed and pressure are not. If you have moved from events into another industry and felt overqualified for the room, you are not imagining it. You were trained in the most unforgiving project environment there is. Chloe Quakenbush shared thisI've recently been spending a lot more time volunteering at Austin Wildlife Rescue rehab center, and it has truly been some of the most rewarding and fulfilling work I've done. I've seen and experienced first hand the care and compassion the staff has for helping animals of all shapes and sizes; I will sing the praises of the entire team any chance I get and I am thrilled to be able to contribute in a small way for just a few hours a week. I am also happy to help promote their Caring for Critters Brunch event on October 17, 2026! Tickets are only $100 per person, and I can say with certainty just how far $100 can go, especially when it comes to the amount of food and linens we go through each day. Austin Wildlife Rescue is a resourceful and innovative organization that spends what they have meticulously so each patient has the best avenue of healing and release. AWR is also looking for sponsors for the Caring for Critters Brunch and are accepting donations in the form of auction-able goods and services. I am beyond proud to be a volunteer with Austin Wildlife Rescue and will answer any questions you have about volunteering or donations 💚 https://lnkd.in/gtba7P3T

Chloe Quakenbush shared this“I think if you’re growing, then you’re changing.” “But we’re not changing from who we are, which we always stay as...” I love this snippet of dialogue from one of my favorite movies, Bridesmaids. Reflecting on living in Austin 11 years, the evolution of both myself and this city is remarkable. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by what's next. Who I am, who I want to be, who I was... and then I think of this scene, laugh, and let go. I've been thinking of this scene a lot recently. There's nothing like a kick in the butt to get you growing and changing! My last day at Dell Med* on the Development team was April 2. I originally planned to disclose my layoff privately due to the stigma of job-loss. But it’s been a month, and there’s no shame in leaning on your network. So here I am, asking my LinkedIn network to help me find my next dream role! I have over 10 years of expertise in all things events programming-- from intimate dinners, casual networking receptions and stand-up comedy shows, to galas, webinars, and multi-speaker conferences with hundreds of attendees. I’ve historically taken a number of application-based programs in need of revitalization and flipped the ROI from negative to exponentially successful. I love a challenge, and I love to learn! (Ask me about synthetic daffodil proteins used for Alzheimer’s drug research, about plasmapheresis machines, or about equitable small business lending, and I will gladly geek out😄) I am deeply committed to the initiatives I support, and pride myself on my ability to simplify big picture ideas and turn them into real on-the-ground experiences that drive engagement. At the forefront of my work ethic is the core belief that it costs nothing to be kind, and the best manifestation of success is the joy of the collective win. Few things bring me greater fulfillment than building bridges and inspiring others to pay it forward. Community is everything!! I thrive in organizations where I can use my creativity to build innovative events that are mission-centric, collaborative, and leave audiences with a sense of renewed purpose and momentum. I welcome any and all leads and referrals on in-person, hybrid, and remote opportunities. And please share, repost, or comment for visibility! I am specifically looking for roles in philanthropy, nonprofits, b-corps, academic institutions, and startups, etc., that focus on helping people thrive and making the planet a more habitable place for all beings. Finally, to honor both growth and change, I'm sharing my new headshot, along with my first headshot from 2016, just for fun! Thanks y'all! 🧡 #opentowork P.S. *While I am eligible for (and open to) reemployment at Dell Med/ UT, I'm hoping to find a more progressive organization to work for that unequivocally values and protects Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for all humans. No shade, but IYKYK 😊 🫶

1yChloe Quakenbush reposted thisCan medicine today still be seen as a calling, and not just a job? That was one of the challenges posed this week by Harvey V. Fineberg, M.D., Ph.D. — former president of the National Academy of Medicine and current president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation — as he delivered the Ken Shine Prize in Health Leadership lecture at Dell Medical School. In an era when many physicians work inside large, consolidated systems and under immense pressures, Fineberg pressed the audience to consider whether professionalism can still carry the sense of higher purpose that has long defined the field. He argued that the future of health care depends not only on science and technology, but on enduring values: compassion, empathy, respect, integrity, altruism and social awareness. “Humanism, professionalism and quality in health care are not resonant ideals from the past, but critical foundations for medicine and health care looking into the future,” Fineberg said. As Dean Claudia Lucchinetti noted: “Enduring values are not at odds with innovation. They are what make innovation meaningful. That balance is a hallmark of health leadership and is the common thread we celebrate tonight, from Dr. Shine’s legacy to Dr. Fineberg’s remarkable career to the aspirations we carry forward at The University of Texas at Austin." The Ken Shine Prize in Health Leadership is awarded annually by Dell Medical School to a visionary leader who has made significant leadership advancements in health. -
Chloe Quakenbush shared thisExcited to share that next Monday, Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin will welcome Dr. Harvey Fineberg, renowned physician and scholar in health and medicine, as the recipient of the Ken Shine Prize in Health Leadership. Dr. Fineberg has spent his career advancing health, science, and medical education. His lecture, “Humanism, Professionalism and Quality of Health Care,” promises to be both inspiring and deeply relevant to anyone who cares about the future of medicine. The event will be in person (with a reception after!) and also livestreamed. I can’t wait to hear his perspective and encourage colleagues and friends in health care to join in. Chloe Quakenbush liked thisChloe Quakenbush liked thisGoodPop has almost killed me a few times. 👀 One of those times, I was 24 years old and was on the way to Austin City Limits Fest. It was around 2am somewhere between Houston and Austin. I had just finished making pops and was trying to get as many of them to the festival as humanly possible. So naturally, I was pulling a frozen trailer that (I later found out) was approximately 3x overweight. 🫠 At some point, I looked in the rearview mirror and saw sparks flying behind me. Not a few sparks. A LOT of sparks. I pulled over and realized one of the trailer tires was completely gone. Not flat. Gone. (See picture for proof). 30,000 popsicles had been driving on a trailer rim. There’s a lot no one sees when you’re starting a business. The late nights. The dumb decisions. The things powered by sheer determination. The tow truck came and said I was very lucky. The entire thing could have flipped. It was a serious wakeup call. Sometimes we need to slow down before we speed up. As entrepreneurs, lessons and growth opportunities are ALWAYS happening in real time...and we need to pay attention. See you this weekend at ACL, Austin. Be safe out there! We will be. 😅

Chloe Quakenbush liked thisChloe Quakenbush liked thisAt the end of the day I’m just a girl from Austin, TX trying to “document untold stories and disrupt unjust systems.” That’s why it was such an honor this past Saturday to moderate a panel for the NYC film screening of “Cycles of Resilience” at the Bicycle Film Festival. A timely documentary about the efforts to preserve the history and stories of Black Austin through the Black History Bike Ride, amidst a violently gentrifying city. It was special to witness some of the stories and spaces I’ve been committed to elevate in my own writing and work (from Herman Sweatt and John S. Chase to Freedom Towns and the Southgate Lewis House) be centered. As we navigate ongoing conversations, questions and concerns about human rights and civil liberties, the preservation of Black stories and the protection of Black life is inextricably connected to any future that centers justice and equity. I was honored to be in conversation with Ya'Ke Smith, the film’s brilliant director, Talib Abdullahi, MBA, the film’s producer and one of the generous hearts behind BHBR, alongside Ariel Marlowe and Brandon Grant. The owlet had been presumed dead after Athena left the nest, but the Cornell Lab of Ornithology Bird Cams team continued watching and spotted movement. Austin Wildlife Rescue came to its aid and cared for it as it grew, with the help of a foster great horned owl. We’re grateful to everyone who helped the owlet reach this moment. Thank you to Wildflower Center volunteer Bill J. Boyd for capturing this photo. Read KUT’s story about the release: https://lnkd.in/ePiwkbr6

Positive Women's Network - USA • 2K followers
I produced dance concerts in New York for over 10 years and the most important thing I learned about creating applications was to keep them simple. In creating this fellowship application for Positive Women's Network - USA's Comms Baddies, I've held onto that ethos. Too may organizations create fellowships that ask people to tell them the meaning of life in 15 different ways and it is... ridiculous. I'm not looking for people who already think they know how to discuss public health; I'm looking to engage people who speak to folks our industry never reaches because it is caught up in acronyms and trying to impress each other. That's not public health communications; it's academic masturbation, as are 85% of the fellowship applications I've come across in recent years. If you're a member of PWN-USA and you're interested in learning about public health and helping others access the best health outcomes possible, please apply. Everyone else, please signal boost to any woman (cis or trans), transgender of gender diverse person living with HIV you might know. Or wish us good luck. Thank you. Notably, this fellowship is funded by the Health Not Prisons Collective through a grant from Gilead Sciences. I am quick to criticize organizations when I think they are flawed. I'm just as quick to shine praise onto them when they do well by the community. Equipping PWN with the tools to empower our members is how you do right by people living with HIV. Anyone who is interested in supporting this type of work can contribute to PWN's 18th birthday campaign: tinyurl.com/PWN18
