Dave Burwick shared thisI've known Gail Kauranen Jones -- and her passion for making a difference -- for more than 40 years. Her work goes broad and deep, as reflected in her new Claim Your Worthiness website. Check it out below, and kudos to her web developer Jai Maganti. https://lnkd.in/eiqAb5r2Dave Burwick shared thisAn exciting expansion: Bringing a more evolved website to market—and fine-tuning 25 years of expertise as I expand into new markets—is a lot like birthing a baby: · The labor can be long. · It keeps you awake for days, weeks, even months. · And when it's finally born, you realize it was worth every moment. Today, I’m celebrating the launch of the new Claim Your Worthiness® website. 🎉 But more than anything, I’m celebrating the people who helped bring this vision to life. I’m especially grateful for Jai Maganti, who came into my world as a brilliant young web developer, and he became so much more that I made him my Director of Marketing. Jai didn’t just build a website. He helped me think differently about how this work can reach a new generation—and how two generations can build something meaningful together. I’m deeply grateful for his talent, patience, creativity, and belief in this next chapter. This is what growth looks like to me: Honoring what we’ve learned, remaining open to what’s next, and having the courage to build it together. The new site is live. ❤️ I’d love to hear what you think. Dave Burwick shared thisLove this post and, particularly, the comments. Everyone has a favorite Spindrift flavor. Many more new ones to come … 😁Dave Burwick shared thisDear Spindrift Beverage Co, Inc., I am writing to you on behalf of our office fridge, and frankly, on behalf of many office fridges in America. Please replace the lemon flavor in the 4-flavor pack. It is consistently neglected, and the subsequent buildup of lemon cans in our office fridge is concerning. Unsettling, even. My team members and I have resorted to drinking one every few days, begrudgingly, as part of our civic duty to reduce lemon spindrift buildup. We are outnumbered by these cans and at risk of coup. Raspberry Lime and Mango Orange go quickly, and Grapefruit is next best. Lemon stays on the shelves, perpetually. Nobody reaches for it on purpose. Please add a replacement flavor (we suggest Fiji Apple or Pineapple). Or perhaps, your team can implement a Spindrift swap service, so we can give our cans away to other offices in exchange for better flavors. We believe there is a market here. The people have spoken. Thank you for your consideration. Evidence attached below.

Dave Burwick shared thisMany of you may have seen that I decided to leave Boston Beer after six great years. With tremendous plans lined up for 2024, the company is poised for growth, and now is the right time for me to move on. I’ve been very fortunate to be connected to the company since I joined the Board of Directors in May 2005 and have greatly enjoyed adding whatever value I could to build our people capabilities and improve our growth prospects over the years, whether as a board member only or later as the CEO. I have zero regrets when I reflect on how I’ve been able to create the impact I wanted in my career while staying true to my beliefs in community, authenticity and integrity. I agree strongly with author David Brooks when he says “the essential moral skill is being considerate to others in the complex circumstances of everyday life. Morality is about how we interact with each other minute by minute.” Business allows us to do that every single day. I am so grateful for all the people I’ve been fortunate to interact and work with over the last 35 years of my career. I am especially grateful for the talented, committed and passionate people of Boston Beer who have taught me much about leadership – and myself – over the past six years. And of course to all the wonderful people at Pepsi, who always will remain my “first love.” Thank you all! But ... I'm not done yet ... more to come https://lnkd.in/e4yU7CSmBoston Beer CEO Dave Burwick to retire after six years of leadership - The Boston GlobeBoston Beer CEO Dave Burwick to retire after six years of leadership - The Boston Globe

Dave Burwick liked thisDave Burwick liked thisI have never had a soda. Literally never. I’ve had sips, but I just don’t like it. And yet, Spindrift Beverage Co, Inc. has a hold on me. Until recently, I was pretty much a water-only person (aside from coffee and adult beverages). Then I visited family in Philly this summer, where there seemed to be a constant supply of Spindrift on hand. And I was hooked. As a communications person, I naturally think about how brands earn attention and win over fans. Sometimes the most effective marketing is making sure the product delivers exactly what the marketing says it will. For Spindrift, that’s whole fresh fruit and lightly carbonated water. The flavors are interesting and actually taste like the fruit they’re supposed to taste like. And for me, cracking one open feels like a little treat. It quickly won my brand loyalty. I’ve been buying the 30-pack at Costco Wholesale, but yesterday my supermarket had a buy-three-get-three promotion, so I bought a couple of my favorite flavor and am testing out new ones at about 50 cents each, because I also love a good deal. All it took to turn me into a brand loyalist was a fridge full of Spindrift and a few days with my family.

Dave Burwick liked thisDave Burwick liked thisEngaging article fron Harvard Business School on Spindrift Beverage Co, Inc. scaling to a $1 billion dollar brand under the leadership of Dave Burwick. As a consumer, I've been a big fan of the brand for years (grapefruit variant especially) and have recently enjoyed the green tea/peach. But do to expansions into alcohol-inspired "cocktail" brands, teas and sodas extend or dilute (no pun intended) the equity? Excited to see how this brand continues its growth. https://lnkd.in/gcGbW-iT

Dave Burwick liked thisDave Burwick liked thisWE DID IT!!! 🙌🏼🔥 📍 Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada 🇨🇦 Akshayuk Pass — DOUBLE CROSSING 4 DAYS • 8 HOURS • 48 MINUTES Coast to Coast to Coast • 217 KM Over the last four days, Eric Batty and I crossed mountains of glacial moraine, endless rocky river washes, soft Arctic tundra, deep sand and dozens of rivers to complete a coast-to-coast-to-coast double crossing of Baffin Island! We experienced pretty much every kind of Arctic weather Baffin could throw at us — snow, driving winds, rain, cold…and even a little bit of sunshine! 😆 Eric has dreamed about crossing Baffin Island for many years, and for me this would mark my 12th AND 13th crossings of a place that I absolutely love. It was such an honour to combine skills with such a great friend and incredible endurance athlete. We trained and prepared for months after setting the goal of attempting this adventure. A single coast-to-coast crossing of Baffin can be incredibly difficult on its own, so attempting to cross it, turn around and go all the way back was going to be a massive challenge. And it absolutely was. The terrain ranged from soft, marshy tundra to heinous fields of loose glacial moraine constantly shifting under our feet, deep sand, endless rocky riverbeds, dozens upon dozens of river crossings and thousands of feet of climbing and descending. It was physically hard, but Baffin is also one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The scale of this landscape is almost impossible to describe until you’re standing in the middle of it. Absolutely massive mountains, glaciers, rivers and valleys stretching as far as you can see. We have SO MANY stories to share from this one, along with some incredible photos and videos! For now…we literally just got picked up by boat and are currently eating absolutely EVERYTHING anyone puts in front of us. 😂😂😂 More soon!!! ❤️🇨🇦 Canada Goose | norda run | Osprey Packs, Inc. | XACT NUTRITION | Kahtoola | Speakers Spotlight | Royal Canadian Geographical Society

His scholarship, leadership, and mentorship deeply influenced how Unspeakable came to life. The book is about topics we sense are important but feel we're not allowed to discuss, and what that silence can cost us. So much of this plays out at work, where even good leaders avoid the hardest conversations. Len helped me understand those organizations, and the people leading them. Unspeakable is out October 20. Dave Burwick liked thisDave Burwick liked thisWHY WE DON’T STOP - especially when that is easier - I DIDN'T this past few days walking 50 miles, over 3 days, and the reasons you keep going when quitting is easier. I'm not going to dress it up. Fifty miles is a long way. By the end of day one — twenty miles in, legs done, body telling me in very clear terms that it was finished — I wasn't sure I had the next day in me. By day three, with the miles stacking up, there were stretches where the only honest thought was: I don't think I can do this. And there's always an exit. Stopping is easy. A sag wagon drives by every few miles. Nobody would've said a word. So why keep walking? Because I said I would. That one turns out to matter more than I expected — the simple fact of having told people, out loud, what I was going to do. Because more than 500 of you gave money on the strength of that promise. You didn't fund the first 30 miles. You funded 50. Because my parents and my in-laws were out there walking too. Because friends flew in just to be on that course. Because when the people around you are doing hard things, quitting isn't a private decision anymore. Because of my daughter Brooke Weatherup, MBA who works for the National MS Society, and it's her job to put this exact event on — hundreds of walkers, volunteers, three days, the whole operation. Watching her run it while I was in it did something I don't have a great word for. You don't stop in the middle of your kid's event. And because of this: the medicines that let me walk at all exist only because people before me did hard things. They raised money when others said it wasn't worth it. They funded research when the answer was "primary progressive MS has no treatment" — and it stayed that answer for decades. Someone kept going anyway. If they hadn't, I'd be in a very different place today. That isn't a metaphor. That's the drug in my bloodstream. I owe that back, or I owe it forward. Both, probably. If you've followed this series, you know the pieces. Who shows up when you pull the fire alarm. It's not the hit, it's the response. Everyone is carrying something you can't see. This weekend was all of it at once — a community none of us wanted to join, that I've somehow come to love being part of, carrying each other mile after mile. We raised $206,000 for the National MS Society. That's over 500 people — a huge part of this network, people I've built companies with, worked alongside, or met once and stayed connected to — deciding an honest story was worth acting on. I didn't expect it. I won't forget it. Thank you. And if you've been meaning to give and haven't yet: I kept walking. The research keeps going. You can still be part of it - give today: https://lnkd.in/eHQaeQPJ

🌟 Specialty Retail: Resilience and Opportunity in 2026 🌟 The specialty retail sector has faced its share of challenges—economic uncertainty, margin compression, and shifting consumer behaviors. Yet, as Gabe Maier, President of Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, highlights in Shop Eat Surf Outdoor, the story of 2025 is one of resilience and recovery. 📈 Key Wins: - Retailers showed a 2.36% growth compared to 2024, with fewer businesses reporting declines. - Categories like lifestyle sportswear, running footwear, and active outerwear are thriving. 💡 Emerging Opportunities: - The used gear market is booming, with over 20% of retailers integrating it into their business and seeing it contribute more than 10% of total volume. - Gift and accessories are becoming a focus, adding uniqueness and fun to stores. 🤝 The Specialty Advantage: - What sets specialty retail apart? Community and experience. It’s not just about selling products—it’s about creating connections and offering something Walmart or Amazon can’t replicate. As we step into 2026, the focus is clear for retailers: embrace innovation, lean into community, and seize the opportunities that make specialty retail so unique. What trends or strategies are you seeing in the retail space? Let’s discuss! 👇 https://lnkd.in/gnYxTYgZ

Ross Stores, Inc. reported a strong Q4 today — comparable sales up 9% against analyst estimates of ~4%, with full-year guidance also coming in above consensus. As I shared with Sanskriti Shekhar at Reuters, Consumer Edge data shows that spend growth at off-price chains is among the strongest in retail right now, with gains across all income segments — recently led by lower-income shoppers but with solid participation from middle- and higher-income households as well. Here's more of what our credit and debit card data is showing: Ross swung from sustained underperformance versus the off-price subindustry through most of 2024 and into early 2025, to clear outperformance entering 2026 — the strongest relative growth reading in our data in at least three years. The 2-year growth differential versus peers bottomed at roughly -4% in mid-2024 and has now turned solidly positive. Notably, the share recovery is broad-based. Ross began gaining share across almost every income and age cohort starting in August, with gains accelerating into year-end and continuing into early 2026. Lower-income consumers are leading, but mid- and higher-income shoppers are participating too. Younger consumers are a bright spot. The strongest share gains are concentrated among 18–34 year olds, consistent with management's commentary about modernizing its marketing and reaching a younger demographic. The company and sector appear to have momentum heading into 2026. https://lnkd.in/eqUdemkG

Industry Analysts Look for Trends in Gold and Retail Data What a fun conversation at the Atlanta Jewelry Show with Rob Bates, Paul Zimnisky, CFA, David Siminski and Andrea Hill. We covered a lot of ground — gold, the economy, consumer spending, inventory, margins and what retailers should be thinking about as we head into the balance of the year. My message to retailers was pretty simple: Know your customers. Know your numbers. Your data is a gold mine. There will always be things outside of our control. The best retailers stay disciplined, manage their inventory, protect their margins and make decisions based on what their own data is telling them. Great conversation with some very smart industry people! Rob Bates shares the entire discussion in his substack The Jewelry Wire. https://lnkd.in/gHzMW3JC
