To our incredible team, your passion, creativity, and commitment continue to bring the SUSHISAMBA energy to life every single day. This year was packed with standout collaborations and experiences. From working with Michelin-starred chef Dani García in Dubai and taking the samba spirit to Marbella, to our Kokoro collaboration selling out in just 10 hours and a one-day sell-out four-hands dining experience with Seiten Heikireiki. We created an unforgettable four-hands dining experience hosted by Navegante’s Chef Diego Munoz and SUSHISAMBA Brand Chef Kitak Lee and from Tokyo to Dubai, Chef Iwao joined us for an unforgettable four-hands omakase dinner over two days. We introduced vibrant new dishes, welcomed world-class mixologists, and elevated our cocktail offering even further. Highlights included hosting the South American Bar Tour — a four-day takeover featuring award-winning talent from Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and Colombia. The kids in our vocational program still say "let's make Chris proud". I do not know if our tears will ever go away. Joanna and Parker will always have to deal with missing him. Omar Gutierrez liked thisOmar Gutierrez liked thisWhen I joined the Facility Services��team in 2020, everyone told me I had “big shoes to fill” following Jason DeGraaf I didn’t realize they meant it literally. (See photo for evidence 👟) In all seriousness, stepping into a legacy often feels like this: overwhelming, slightly awkward, and a little intimidating. It’s easy to feel like an imposter when the footprint you’re stepping into is massive. But here is what five years in this role has taught me: Growth doesn't happen in shoes that already fit. If you fit the role perfectly on Day 1, you aren't being challenged. You grow into the space you're given by bringing your own stride to the path already paved. I might not be a natural size 30 yet, but I’ve learned that the goal isn't to mimic the previous person—it's to make the role your own. Don't wait until you "fit" the position to start walking.
