Peter Noverr reposted thisPeter Noverr reposted thisSAY THANK YOU NOW. SAY IT CLEAR. SAY IT NEAR. We thank total strangers, but we forget our parents. Or our spouse. This thought struck me this graduation season, listening to one superficial and overdue thank-you speech after another, and thinking about how badly most of us handle gratitude every day of our lives. Here is a pattern I have observed and have been guilty of myself. We write a glowing review for the HVAC contractor we will use exactly once. We thank the flight attendant, the hotel desk, the stranger who holds the door. Meanwhile the people who actually hold up our lives go unmentioned. The mother who has cooked us a thousand meals. The wife who has picked us up a hundred times from the airport. The friend who is always there for us at moments of loss and crisis. Call it the "proximity paradox". Our gratitude is loudest toward people at a distance and faintest toward those closest in. The reason is frequency. A gift given every day stops looking like a gift and starts looking like the weather. We stop seeing it the moment it becomes reliable. It gets worse than not noticing. Reliability morphs into entitlement. The steady gift stops feeling like a gift and starts feeling like a right, and a right can only disappoint. The assistant who books five years of flawless travel hears nothing, until the one trip that goes wrong. That is the quiet law. Acknowledgement runs in inverse proportion to frequency. The more dependably someone gives, the less we say, and the louder we complain at the occasional lapse. How should we thank well? First, we must FEEL, because a thank-you with nothing behind is performance without substance. Then remember three things about expressing gratitude well. - Say it NOW. Gratitude has a short half-life - it is best experienced close to the gift that was given. - Say it CLEAR. Thank the giver for the one specific thing, not a vague "thanks for everything." Say it with presence better than voice, voice better than ink, and ink better than screen. - Say it NEAR. Thank profusely the people closest in, the ones who give frequently and for long. What if you are on the giving side? Do the good and drop it in a well. Expect nothing back, because the moment you expect thanks you have turned a gift into an invoice, and an unpaid invoice accumulates interest of resentment. But release the act, not the relationship. With a chronically thankless partner or colleague, the silence is not something to absorb in the name of being the bigger person. Release the need for thanks. Keep your self-respect. Gratitude is a rare act that leaves both people richer, and it costs nothing. So do not wait for a better moment. There will not be one. I take this further, and somewhere more spiritual, on my Substack, The Hidden Weave. Link in the comments.

Peter Noverr shared thisAmazing story!Peter Noverr shared thisOn February 6, 2008, Dr. Jason Wersland had not slept in more than 40 days due to excruciating pain from a freeway accident he'd had in October 2007. He was in agony. As the son of homesteaders, Jason headed to his garage in search of something – anything – that would help relieve the pain. There, he found a jigsaw. He bent the blade, wrapped it in a kitchen towel and applied it to the source of his pain, under his shoulder. It worked. And percussive therapy was born. Oh, how far we've come. Congratulations, Dr. Jason on the invention that started a movement and changed the world. How has your Therabody product helped you? Tell Dr. Jason in the comments.

Peter Noverr shared thisPutting people first delivers exceptional results, especially in the crucible of private equity-owned businesses. I had a great time on the Human Data Intelligence podcast discussing one of my most rewarding professional experiences. I was fortunate to work with a team at The Better Being Co. that overcame tremendous challenges and quickly transformed the business. We did this by relentlessly focusing on developing our people, elevating mindsets, and building a great culture. There are few things more fulfilling than empowering great people/teams and witnessing them innovate and produce results that they didn’t think were possible. When you do this, the results are exponentially larger and faster! The most essential ingredient is trust. One of the key initiatives was launching a leadership development program with Michael Stevens. On this podcast, we discuss the challenges we faced, what we did, and the incredible results the team delivered, which included: - 91% reduction in employee turnover - 49% increase in labor productivity - 55% increase in production output. If you need help transforming a business from the inside out while producing evidence-based results, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or Michael Stevens. This is our passion. Peter Noverr liked thisPeter Noverr liked thisThe Most Underutilised Training Method I See Today...Single‑Leg Strength Getting strong on one leg is essential if you want to reduce your risk of injury and prevent muscle imbalances. Yet it’s the number one most overlooked area of training I see, even among experienced athletes (especially my runners!). Just think about it: walking, running, climbing stairs, & kicking a ball are all done on one leg. And yet most training programs focus on two‑legged lifts like squats and deadlifts. The problem? Your dominant leg does the heavy lifting, while the weaker side never catches up. That imbalance increases your risk of injury, especially for trail runners navigating uneven terrain, and it’s even more pronounced for women, who face higher knee‑injury risk due to biomechanics. For parents, the imbalance often comes from years of carrying kids on one hip - strengthening one side while leaving the other underactive. The solution is simple but powerful: train each leg individually. I was SHOCKED when I started training on one leg seriously about a year ago, as there was such a big gap between what I could do on my left leg (my dominant side) vs my right leg. My right leg was so much weaker. But by focussing on each leg individually I've slowly but surely narrowed that gap. So build your balance, resilience, and confidence by focusing on single‑leg strength. It’s one of the best investments you can make in your long‑term health and performance. Exercises I Recommend: - Bulgarian Split Squats → tough but transformative for strength (and the one exercise I get the most groans out of my clients from..but you know I love you and it's excellent for your single leg strength!) - Lunges → reverse, lateral, and walking variations - Single‑Leg Romanian Deadlifts → balance + posterior chain activation - Single‑Leg Squats → Start with bench-supported squats and progress to squats on the floor Note: This video demonstrates an advanced single‑leg progression and isn't intended as a starting exercise for beginners. I recommend building a foundation first with regressions such as reverse lunges, Bulgarian split squats, step up to balance, and single‑leg Romanian deadlifts. Progress gradually, focus on technique, and train safely to reduce imbalances and prevent injury. As a mum of two kids with only 20 months apart, I lost almost all of my core strength and stability after two back-on-back pregnancies. To be able to stand strong today, feeling the stability and strength in my body I simply didn't have years ago, is the BEST feeling!

Only a handful of people surfaced near the aircraft’s broken tail. A #rescuehelicopter began lowering lines into the freezing water. One of the survivors, later identified as Arland D. Williams Jr., repeatedly caught the line—and repeatedly gave it to someone else. Flight attendant Kelly Duncan was lifted away. Other survivors were pulled through the water or helped toward shore. Each time the helicopter returned, Williams remained beside the wreckage. He was cold. He was exhausted. Parts of the aircraft were sinking beneath him. Still, he let someone else go first. Before the helicopter could carry him to safety, the wreckage rolled beneath the surface. Williams disappeared into the Potomac and drowned. Five people survived the river. The man who repeatedly surrendered his opportunity did not. President Ronald Reagan later awarded Williams the Coast Guard’s Gold Lifesaving Medal posthumously. The nearby bridge was renamed the Arland D. Williams Jr. Memorial Bridge. He did not know whether the helicopter would return one more time. He passed the line anyway.

Peter Noverr liked thisPeter Noverr liked thisIn 2023, Boeing's CEO took home $32.8 million. That same year, machinists who build the planes got 1% wage growth. A Senate hearing put both numbers in the same room and asked the obvious question. The answer was uncomfortable to watch. Many of us have lived some version of it. We sat in rooms where decisions were made by people insulated from the consequences of those decisions. We watched the gap between what leadership said and what the people doing the work experienced. We stayed anyway. Until we chose something different. Here is what the data says about a different model. Companies that give workers an actual stake in the outcome, equity, ownership, and a real share of what they help build show median job tenure running 3 years longer than companies that offer none of that. That is a retention result. It is what happens when people feel the outcome belongs to them, too. Treating labor as a cost to minimize has its own price. It shows up later. If you are building your own practice now, you get to decide what model you run. You watched this dynamic from the inside. You already know which version you want to build. What did you see inside corporate that you are determined to do differently as you build? ♻️ Repost this for someone in your network who is building something better and knows exactly which room they are done sitting in. 🔔 Follow Michelle Maldonado for honest reflections on building a practice on your own terms. Peter Noverr liked thisPeter Noverr liked thisThere are moments that stay with you forever. This is one of them. Just months after September 11, 2001, the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team had the incredible honor of returning to the Olympic stage to light the cauldron at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. To represent the United States again-this time in front of our country and the world, during such a difficult moment-was an honor I will never forget. Twenty-two years after Lake Placid, we were once again reminded of what it means to wear USA across your chest: unity, resilience, hope, and pride in our country. Grateful for this memory and for the opportunity to represent the USA once again.🇺🇸

Peter Noverr liked thisPeter Noverr liked thisFor nearly 15 years, I sent Tim Cook a weekly report every Sunday night on the global App Store business. My team and I packed it with data, charts, and commentary on what was happening around the world. Most weeks: silence. Every so often, a probing question would come back about a specific metric or market. Or, better, a note congratulating us on a strong quarter. Those reports taught me a lot about discipline and accountability. No matter where I was in the world, I sent that report. Tim expected his leaders to know their businesses cold. Whenever I put anything in front of him, I needed to understand not just the numbers, but what was driving them and what we were doing about it. His expectations made me a much better leader. On my last day at Apple, Tim and I had a 10-minute 1:1 scheduled. We talked for 30. Reflecting on my 21 years at the company, he told me my greatest accomplishment wasn’t helping build a $1 trillion App Store ecosystem or helping scale the business to more than one billion customers. It was the team I had built and the leaders I had developed who were ready to step up after I left. That meant the world to me. We took this photo together right after that conversation. Today is Tim’s last day as CEO of Apple. Much has been written about what he and the company accomplished under his leadership. But perhaps his greatest legacy is the one he taught me to value: the people he developed, the culture he shaped, and the leaders ready to carry it forward. I’ll always be grateful I got to be a part of it.

Strength in your 50's is a decision. Steve is the President of a full-service packing and shipping material supplier. That means: • Deadlines don’t move • Supply chains don’t care how he feels • Responsibility doesn’t lighten with age Yet most executives in their 50s slowly trade physical capacity for convenience. They tolerate being: • a little more tired • a little less sharp • a little less disciplined And then it compounds... But titles don’t protect you from decline. Standards do. When you’re the President, your energy sets the temperature of the room. Strength in your 50's isn’t about aesthetics. It’s about durability. Durability to lead. Durability to handle pressure. Durability to stay sharp when things get heavy. The real question: Are you scaling the company while your capacity shrinks? Or are you setting the standard? You built the business. Don’t let your capacity fall behind it. Coach Marco

Inventory improvement rarely starts with inventory. It starts with understanding where decisions, processes, data, and execution are out of sync. In this retail inventory management assessment, Parker Avery worked across operations, planning, and supply chain teams to identify opportunities to improve productivity and performance. The work included process evaluation, data analysis, operational review, and a roadmap for stronger inventory management capabilities. The result: executive alignment on short- and long-term inventory reduction strategies, including an approximate 14% inventory reduction and up to 15% SKU reduction. When Amazon makes changes to its supplement requirements, it sends shockwaves throughout the industry, and the brands that aren’t built for it feel it first and most. Amazon is the largest single retailer of supplements in the U.S ($10 bln/yr.), more than any individual competitor (Walmart, CVS Health, etc.), and also holds the largest market share in online supplement sales in the US, with 80% of all e-commerce sales of supplements. Amazon isn’t just the single biggest retailer, it’s the most influential force in supplements today. It controls discovery, it increasingly directs compliance, and it’s shaping how products are formulated, labeled, packaged, and marketed. Starting March 31, Amazon is tightening its dietary supplement policy, again, and it’s not a ‘tweak’. It’s significant. • Product listings must now match the Supplement Facts panel exactly. No Romance language, marketing interpretation, or “equivalency” storytelling; • AI will drive enforcement and be the tool to flag any inconsistencies • Third-party cGMP verification is now required across all supplements, not just high risk categories (ie weight loss) The result is likely to be widespread delistings for brands that aren’t fully aligned. But the big issue is that Amazon is no longer treating supplement listings as marketing pages, they’re treating them like labels that need to be regulatory compliant. The impact is significant. Formulation transparency is a non-negotiable, supply chain documentation becomes a growth lever, and marketing teams lose creativity/flexibility, and compliance gains influence Ultimately, this isn’t just a change to compliance, it’s a distribution system redefining what “truth” looks like in supplements, with Amazon implementing standards that are more restrictive than our industry itself has historically done. The ‘wild west’ is become less wild while clarity and truth are becoming the standard. #supplements #amazon #cpg #regulation #nutritionindustry

Last mile delivery is no longer an operational footnote. It is a financial lever CFOs can’t afford to ignore. Industry benchmarks show the last mile now accounts for up to 53% of total fulfillment costs yet many finance teams still lack true visibility into cost-to-serve, failed delivery impact and margin erosion happening order by order. When delivery decisions aren’t orchestrated, low-value orders get premium service, failures trigger costly rework and margin quietly disappears. For finance leaders ready to bring the last mile into strategic focus, this is a practical playbook for taking control. Read the full article here 👉 https://hubs.ly/Q040hn_X0

A lower purchase price can look attractive on a spreadsheet. Until the shipment creates returns, customer complaints, rework, replacement freight or damage to a retailer relationship. The question isn’t simply: “What does the tool cost?” It’s: “What does this sourcing decision cost if something goes wrong?”

In 2012, JCPenney’s CEO tried to "fix" retail with a perfectly logical plan: one simple, everyday low price. No coupons. No games. No frantic sales. The result? Sales plummeted by 25% and they lost nearly a billion dollars. Why? Because he was selling logic when his customers were buying a feeling. In the B2B world, your prospects are no different. They don't just want a solution; they want: 📌 The thrill of winning. 📌 A sense of power over their budget and process. 📌 The comfort of established routines 🎧 Listen to the full Money Monday episode on Spotify: https://hubs.li/Q03Z7qNs0 #SalesGravy #sellmore #SalesLeadership #ConsumerPsychology #B2BSales
