Sha Khastedai liked thisSha Khastedai liked thisSeatGeek automated 50%+ of their IT tickets in 60 days. Then took those engineers and deployed them inside business units. Therefore reinvesting their time into building solutions rather than answering tickets. That was the example from Elisa Folden that I keep coming back to from last week. We co-hosted a dinner with Sequoia's Pat Grady and Anas Biad and a room full of IT and security leaders. The conversation was really about one thing: the foundational systems, ERP, CRM, ITSM, aren't getting patched. They're being rebuilt from scratch. AI-first, workflow-driven, built to act. The bar for IT is rising. Our customers are using Serval to clear the repetitive work and put that time back into things that actually move the business. SeatGeek is one of the clearest examples of what that looks like in practice. Thanks to everyone who joined us, and especially to Elisa and the whole SeatGeek team.

Sha Khastedai liked thisSha Khastedai liked thisEveryone loves the idea of making it to Director or VP. "You've made it," they say. Most people think it means: - Spending all day in meetings - Reviewing slides other people made - Delegating everything and calling it leadership Here's what they don't see: - Making trade-off decisions with 60% of the information you need - Absorbing pressure from above while protecting the team below - Being accountable for outcomes you don't directly control At this level, there's no one to escalate to. What I mean is: 1/ You don't just lead your team → You navigate politics across functions you don't own → You build alignment with stakeholders who have conflicting incentives 2/ You have real authority (and real accountability) → No safety net if a decision goes sideways → Your name is on the strategy whether it works or not 3/ You set the direction → But that means holding the ambiguity nobody else can hold → And adapting when the business shifts priorities mid-quarter. Again. And with that you get: ✅ The ability to shape something at scale ✅ The satisfaction of developing leaders who outgrow you ✅ A front-row seat to how organizations actually work (messy and all) It's one of the hardest jobs in tech. And one of the most underestimated. If you're in it, you already know. 📌 Want to identify what may be limiting your influence as a Director or VP? Sha Khastedai liked thisSha Khastedai liked thisI've always said one the joys of the job is catching up with candidates, peers and clients as they grow in their career journey. Jason Schaeffer and I have known one another for years, never directly worked together and it doesn't matter. Paths cross and they don't always need to have a direct purpose. It's good to share stories, hear about family and career growth and along the way see if you can support one another. People need people. Jason is crushing in the Digital Content space now for Walmart where they are doing some really exciting things. See a friend, grab some lunch, get out a bit. It's good for the soul.

Sha Khastedai reacted on thisSha Khastedai reacted on thisWhen your workplace feels like family, every celebration hits differently. 🎈✨ Walking into my office today to this incredible birthday surprise completely blew me away—and the absolute cherry on top was seeing flowers growing right from the ceiling! 🌸 It had me reflecting on what makes a team truly thrive: 🕶️The late-night problem-solving sessions? Yes. 👏The unscheduled desk-side drop-ins? Yes. ☕️The mid-day coffee breaks to decompress? Absolutely. None of those moments happen in a vacuum. They happen because we’ve built a true partnership. A safe space where people feel empowered to bring half-baked thoughts, brew bold new ideas, challenge each other constructively, and push projects across the finish line together. Because around here, we grow together—as individuals, as a team, and as leaders. Leadership isn't about standing at the front—it's about creating an environment where everyone feels heard, supported, and inspired to bloom. Huge thank you to my amazing team for making me feel so celebrated today, but even more so for showing up every single day with energy, heart, and trust. Here’s to another year of brewing big ideas, reaching new heights, and growing together! 🥂🌿 #Leadership #TeamCulture #PsychologicalSafety #Gratitude #WorkplaceCulture #GrowTogether #PeopleFirst

Sha Khastedai liked thisSha Khastedai liked thisTruly humbled by the opportunity to share my career journey today—the wins, the missteps, and everything in between! I had the incredible honor of leading a fireside chat with some of PENNYMAC brightest minds. Standing in front of our future leaders to deconstruct my path—sharing what worked, what didn’t, and how life experiences shape us—was deeply rewarding. In our corporate journeys, it’s easy to get caught up in the immediate harvest. But true growth is a continuous cycle. It’s about planting seeds today that you might not reap until years down the line, moving from a strong individual contributor to a strategic leader. My biggest takeaway? Success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built step-by-step through resilience, authenticity, and a willingness to learn from every detour. As a leader, my ultimate goal isn’t just to optimize processes—it’s to grow people. Seeing the engagement, curiosity, and drive in the room today filled me with complete gratitude. Thank you to everyone who joined, asked tough questions, and shared their energy. To our rising leaders: Keep planting, keep learning, and never stop growing. 🌱 "Grow your Career" week at the Mac was the best one yet!!! 🎉 #Leadership #Mentorship #CareerJourney #PeopleFirst #FiresideChat #PennyMac #ProfessionalDevelopment

Sha Khastedai liked this~ One year ago today (4/11/25), I stepped away from the corporate world — from “working for the man” — and I haven’t looked back since. This past year has been nothing short of a blessing. More than anything, I’ve gained full ownership of my time and taken back control of my health. (Since I left…) my blood pressure has been normal/stable, the stress is gone, and life feels…right 🙏 🥰 (As a bonus, I didn’t skip a beat in earning power and have been able to provide even more for my family 📈📉) The plan was always to leave the corporate world after my consulting stint at The Trade Desk (thinking was, not much better out there for me 😊😎)…then along the way, I was asked if I’d be open to converting into a full-time role — an opportunity I’m deeply grateful for and sincerely appreciative to Jason Hodge for finding a way to get me back (as a consultant), Shari Mogridge for initiating the conversation, Jason Poon, and to Tahnil Davis and Danny Wolf, CPA for supporting and making it (the “dream”) happen…(yes the irony of how it all unfolded isn’t loss on me…🙃😉)…also Tahnil and Paul Ross for the guidance, support, and faith in me — I only hope my time at TTD made a positive impact. Being part of TTD marked the closing chapter — the other bookend — of my nearly 30-year professional career, with Arthur Andersen (shortly thereafter) KPMG US KPMG at the beginning of it. It’s a journey I’ll always be proud of 👊 Through it all, one thing never changed: I put my family first. I turned down — and walked away from — opportunities (even higher positions) that would have compromised that priority. And I have zero regrets. I truly can say I lived it, not just talked about it!…well, maybe one — I do miss the people I had the privilege of working, collaborate with. 🥹☺️ And in true fashion, it wasn’t planned — but I somehow ended up “celebrating” at my version of (one of the) the happiest place(s) on earth…while others Disneyland, mine is (see pic 🫣🤣😂 #ShuffleUpAndDeal 😝also, sharing some of many memorable highlights of my time at TTD) As always, God is good. God’s plan always. As I will continue and remain stubbornly and obsessively grateful—choosing gratitude and blessing in every person and every situation, good or bad. 🙏

Is agile dead? I've been working with Scrum since 2017, when I transitioned from being a PMP-certified project manager to working in a Scrum environment. It was actually exciting. I had seen PMBOK-style planning failing repeatedly in software development projects. Beautiful Gantt charts, huge scope definitions and tons of assumptions. And still - late deliveries, scope creep and frustrated stakeholders. "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." Mike Tyson Scrum brought hope, especially for me, a huge Lean Startup advocate. - Iteration over prediction - Feedback over assumptions - Adaptation over rigidity But here’s something interesting. Even though I had to unlearn: - Overconfidence in upfront planning - Treating change as failure - Measuring success only by deadline I realized that there was a lot that I could keep: clear accountability, structured communication, stakeholder alignment. But one stood out: **risk analysis**. I was always the one asking the team - what could go wrong? How do we mitigate it? But here's what I'm seeing now — even Scrum is being questioned. Teams are pushing back: - Too many ceremonies. - Too much velocity theater. - Too little ownership. And they’re not wrong. What I’ve learned is this: every framework eventually becomes dogma if you stop critically thinking. Because in the end Scrum, PMBOK, SAFe and whatnot are just tools. Outcomes are the goal. The real leadership skill isn’t enforcing a methodology. It’s understanding the reason behind each principle — and knowing when to add structure, and when to get out of the way. So is agile dead? No. But the way most teams practice it might be. There's a reason Scrum caps teams at 7-9 people and it has nothing to do with coordination. It's about cognitive load. That principle exists for a reason. Understanding the 'why' is what separates practitioners from dogmatists. I'll drop the link of the article in the comments. #Agile #ProductManagement #Leadership #ProductLeadership #Scrum #TechLeadership #AgileLeadership #EngineeringCulture

Agile, Waterfall, and Scrum are often used interchangeably—but choosing the wrong approach can slow delivery and increase risk. This article breaks down the key differences, similarities, and real-world use cases to help teams select the right methodology for their projects. Project Managers.. you are one decision away from a better career. NOT another cert. NOT another template. NOT another late night fixing a RAID log. A decision. Every week I hear: “I’ll apply when things calm down.” “I need one more certification.” “I’m not ready for Senior PM.” “The market is bad.” I get it. But here’s the truth: You’re always going to be busy. You’re never going to feel fully ready. The market will always feel uncertain. Waiting feels safe. But waiting is still a choice. You manage risk for a living. You push stakeholders to decide. You move projects forward. But when it’s your own career? You pause. The PMs I'm working with aren’t smarter. They’re clearer. They position themselves better. They decide faster. You don’t need to be perfect. You need to move. So here’s the question: Are you building the career you want OR just managing the one you have? If you’re applying to 100+ PM roles and getting ghosted, DM me ‘PM’ and I’ll show you exactly what’s killing your profile AND how to fix it so recruiters actually respond.”

🎯 Interview Question: “As a Scrum Master, how do you handle impediments in your team?” Most answers I hear go like: 👉 “I remove blockers.” Sounds correct… but honestly, that’s just the surface. In real projects, impediments are rarely that simple. 💡 Here’s how I approach it in real life: 1️⃣ First — I focus on surfacing the real problem In stand-ups, I don’t just ask: “Any blockers?” I ask: What’s slowing you down? Anything that might become a risk later? Because many times, the biggest issues are hidden, not visible. 2️⃣ Not everything is a blocker — some are dependencies One mistake I’ve seen: Teams treat everything as an urgent blocker. But I try to differentiate: 🚫 Blocker → needs immediate action 🔄 Dependency → needs tracking and coordination This alone reduces a lot of chaos. 3️⃣ Transparency is half the solution If Jira shows “In Progress” but the work is actually stuck… that’s a problem. I ensure: 👉 Status reflects reality 👉 Stakeholders are not surprised Because unclear visibility creates more pressure later. 4️⃣ Sometimes… I don’t solve it myself Real talk. A Scrum Master is not there to fix everything. Sometimes the job is: Connecting the right people Escalating at the right time Creating space for technical discussions 5️⃣ The real game is prevention The best teams I’ve worked with don’t just fix issues — they learn from them. In retros: We dig into root causes (not just symptoms) We talk about patterns We make small improvements every sprint 💭 My biggest learning: Impediment removal is not about being a hero who fixes everything. It’s about: 👉 Making problems visible 👉 Helping the team solve them 👉 And ensuring they don’t come back again 💬 Curious to hear from others: What’s the toughest impediment you’ve handled as a Scrum Master? #ScrumMaster #AgileLeadership #ImpedimentRemoval #AgileCoaching #ScrumInterview #ServantLeadership

I promote Project Managers who deliver bad news fast. There is a misconception that a "Good Project Manager" solves every problem quietly so the stakeholders never worry. 🔹 That isn't leadership. That is gambling. The difference between a good PM and a great leader is the speed at which they escalate a "Red" status. 🚩 The instinct: "I made a mistake. If I work late for 3 days, I can fix it before the sponsor notices. I don't want to look incompetent." 🟢 The Discipline: "We have a deviation. If I escalate now, we have 5 options. If I wait a week, we will only have 1 option." 🔹 The math is simple: Time = Options. When you sit on bad news, you are actively destroying the organization's ability to maneuver. You are burning the "Time Budget." By the time you finally admit the project is delayed, you have forced the Execs into a corner where the only solution is "Throw more money at it." I tell my teams on Day 1: "You will never get in trouble for a Red status. But you will get in trouble for a Green status that turns Red overnight." Your salary isn't for the easy days. It’s for your courage on the hard ones. #ProjectManagement #Leadership #RiskManagement #Banking #Transparency

PMO implementation shouldn’t be partial. And it shouldn’t create long-term dependency. At Corbeau® Tech, our PMO implementations are soup-to-nuts — the entire experience: • A clear runbook • Interviews and assessments • Deep understanding of culture, tools, and realities • Leveraging existing strengths • Closing gaps across departments • Training across tools, processes, and people And then — intentionally — we begin to step back. Our goal is to enable self-sufficiency, not permanent reliance. We cross-train, support, and transition so your PMO stands strong long after we roll off. That’s how sustainable PMOs are built. ▶️ Watch the full video - https://lnkd.in/ezGjhcmu 🌐 corbeautech.com #PMO #Leadership #ProjectManagement #ChangeManagement #BusinessTransformation #CorbeauTech
