Congratulations to CEO Henry Li and the entire Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) team on two major fleet investments that will help keep California’s capital moving. SacRT is purchasing 78 new 40-foot CNG buses—about one-third of its fleet—to replace vehicles averaging 16 years in service. The buses will use SacRT’s existing fueling and maintenance infrastructure, reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 90% and generate substantial maintenance and fuel savings. Meanwhile, SacRT’s major light-rail modernization continues. Its order now totals 63 Siemens S700 low-floor light-rail vehicles, built locally in Sacramento. These trains will replace aging high-floor vehicles while providing level boarding, wider aisles, improved accessibility and modern passenger information systems. The latest four include two vehicles designated for the planned Downtown Riverfront Streetcar.
