I'm currently at Mastery Rank 2. I don't really know what I'm doing to make me eligible for the rank-up test, though. Is it some kind of XP I get when I kill enemies?

How do I increase my Mastery Rank, and (if I'm correct in guessing it's some kind of XP system) how much XP is needed per rank? Is there a way to see that progress anywhere?

Mastery Rank is increased by completing the Mastery Rank Test for the next rank, which becomes available after reaching the required number of mastery points. Your current mastery points and the points required for the next rank can be seen in your profile alongside your current mastery rank. Points beyond the maximum are not lost and continue to count towards unlocking the further rank ups.

You gain mastery points from:

  • ranking up equipment for the first time, including warframes, weapons, companions, etc.
  • completing regular missions for the first time, and later again for their Steel Path variants
  • completing Railjack and Duviri intrinsics

Mastered missions on the star chart will stop blinking blue and become a static icon, allowing you to track your mission mastery. Your mission mastery points compared to the total possible mission mastery points is also shown in your profile, under stats.

Equipment can be tracked in the equipment tab of your profile, where you can further make use of sorting by progress and filtering by different types of equipment. Intrinsics progress can be tracked within their respective interfaces.

For modular equipment, such as kitguns and K-drives, you need only rank up one of each primary component once. You can see these components listed by name in your profile under equipment.

Yes, you need Mastery Points to level up your Mastery Rank. You gain those points by leveling up Weapons, Warframes, Necramechs, Archwings, Companions and K-Drives and by completing Junctions. When you gather enough Mastery Points, you have to do Test to unlock the new Mastery Rank. You have to be in solo play to try the test and you can find it in the Pause menu. You can also check your current state by hovering the cursor over your avatar in the UI.
