A few weeks ago, I had the incredible opportunity to meet
Al Roker, weatherman and co-host of NBC’s TODAY Show, at the Aspen Ideas Climate Conference in Chicago. For as long as I can remember, we’ve been watching him connect weather, science, and climate, speaking to the issues we face every day in communities around the country.
“Science is so important, in fact more important now than 10 years ago. Facts matter,” he said during his on-stage interview with
Sarah Kapnick, Global Head of Climate Advisory at J.P. Morgan.
While communicating the importance of these issues, Al is committed to making sure everyone understands how climate affects us, including kids. His animated series “Weather Hunters” was created specifically to helps kids understand some of the critical things happening around them. As a father to two young kids, I cannot thank Al enough for his work.
That commitment to science and evidence is also at the heart of the Thriving Economy Project, an initiative by the
Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Institute. On September 15, the project will release a report outlining data-driven policy recommendations to reduce pollution, accelerate the clean energy transition, lower household energy costs, create good-paying jobs, mitigate climate-related risks, and build healthier, more resilient communities.
The project is focused on solutions to strengthen the American economy while protecting the environment. We would love to hear from you on how we can work together to build a cleaner, strong economy for all American families and businesses.
