Lauren Holznienkemper is a deputy editor for the Small Business vertical at Forbes Advisor.
With nearly 15 years of writing and editing experience, Lauren is passionate about polishing articles into publishable pieces, mentoring writers and keeping the reader front and center when delivering the best answer to address their needs.
Lauren previously worked for Forbes Advisor as an HR product review writer/editor. In this role, she conducted firsthand testing of HR and payroll software and wrote up reviews of her experience using the software. She also informed data methodologies behind software rankings and developed systematic testing methods and standards.
Before that, Lauren was a staff writer at TechnologyAdvice, where she pitched and covered content on a range of topics including cybersecurity, project management and data management, with an eventual specialization in HR software and HR-related topics. She has also published three academic articles and edited two book projects.
The contributions she’s most proud of include breaking down the different types of HR software on the market as well as writing and editing content about diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) in the workplace, learning and development, and software comparisons. In 2022, she obtained a Google UX certificate which informs her approach to hands-on software reviews that test software for functionality and user-friendliness.
When Lauren’s not producing HR content, she’s spending time with family, working out, traveling or reading. She’s fluent in German and particularly enjoys German literature.
