VPNs and VDIs have been the default answer for securing remote workforces for years. Not because they were the best option, but because there was no other option. If remote access needed to be secure, the infrastructure had to be there. That is no longer true. The cost of keeping that infrastructure running goes beyond the licensing fees. It shows up in latency. It shows up in trouble tickets. It shows up in employees navigating a slower, more frustrating experience every time they try to do their job from outside the office. A browser extension changes the entire equation. End to end secure transfer of information, no backhauling, no proxies, no third party data centers handling traffic that never needed to leave the user in the first place. The security travels with the browser, enforced at the point of use, without the overhead that made legacy tools such a persistent drain on performance and IT resources. Farhad Pashaei I think that's exactly where many organizations are today. Getting workloads into the cloud has become relatively straightforward, the real challenge is operating efficiently once there. Managing multiple providers, security, procurement, networking, and governance requires a more structured approach than simply "moving to the cloud." That's where strong architecture and the right implementation partner can make all the difference.

John Kellum MBA liked thisJohn Kellum MBA liked thisIf you’ve wondered why I’ve been MIA for a few months… Today is my first day back at work after nearly 4 months of maternity leave, and this little guy officially made me a boy mom of 3!! 🩵🩵🩵 I’m incredibly grateful for the time I was given to step away from work, soak up those newborn days, adjust to life as a family of five, and just be present during a season that goes by way too fast. It’s definitely bittersweet to close out that chapter, but I’m excited (and maybe a little nervous 😅) to be jumping back in today, reconnecting with everyone, and catching up on everything I’ve missed - especially since Evo Security was acquired by Barracuda while I was away! Safe to say, I picked a pretty eventful few months to be out. 😂 Here’s to figuring out this new rhythm of work + life with three boys and seeing what this next chapter brings!

I am pausing for what I selfishly feel is a well earned moment of reflection. When I joined Apollo, they baited me with an alluring prospect. They said "Come build anything you always wanted but couldn't find when you had the badge." Needless to say, it worked. It shouldn't have, but it did. There was a point in my life where I told myself I would never work for another small company again, ever, like ever ever. I had had some bad experiences working for small companies early in my career and was not interested in a repeat. But then I found myself at Apollo, a long established, small but mighty, VAR with visions of being something bigger. Something better; something more. I have learned a lot over the last 6 years. My first draft of this post had way too much about those lessons that no one was going to read anyway, but suffice it to say that as Apollo has grown, I have too. As a leader, as a professional, and as a person. I am proud of what we have built here. I am proud to work along side a team of people who never left the mission behind even when they moved on. Apollo is 75% former veterans and public servants. This was not done intentionally but it turns out that people with a heart for service just fit here (if that is you, check out our careers page, we are hiring). It was also not intentional that we built and became a SLED centric company with services designed and capable of supporting the rigors and constraints of public sector customers. Not unlike our employees, our customer base is also about 75% Public Sector. Today, Apollo is a much larger company with a nation wide reach that is growing year over year. This journey has taken me from employee headcount number 11 to the sky is the limit and I am proud to be building something great along side my friends and colleagues. The journey has not always been easy, but it has always been worthwhile and has done amazing things for me and my family. I am glad I did not listen to younger me who didn't ever want to work for a small company again. Some risks are 100% worth taking and I am glad I did. 6 years is a long time. Certainly longer than I imagined I would be here when I started. It seems like I only left the State a couple months ago. So what was that number up top? If you made it this far, you will find out now. 147,597 is how many emails I have in my Apollo mailbox at 5pm today 6 years in. Here's to hundreds of thousand more to go. How many items are in your mailbox?
