Roshni Dasgupta liked thisRoshni Dasgupta liked thisAsk any CFO what they want to spend 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 time on. Sales tax is always on the list. The tool Karlon Group recommends to every software and e-commerce client we onboard is Numeral. At Karlon Group, we work with growing companies to build and scale their finance functions. Compliance can't be the thing that slows us down. Numeral takes a notoriously complex area of finance – sales tax – and puts it on autopilot. What separates Numeral: • They handle state registrations for you; most competitors don't touch this. • They cover U.S. and international jurisdictions. • The software is lightning fast and intuitive. • When something unusual comes up, there's a real human to call. Karlon Group thanks Sam Ross, Nate Matherson, Peter Nyznyk, Isabella Ross and the Numeral team for building great software for finance operators!

Roshni Dasgupta liked thisRoshni Dasgupta liked thisThere's a pattern I've always loved noticing in history: many everyday innovations came from women simply trying to make life less frustrating. - Josephine Cochrane saved her breaking china with the dishwasher. - Melitta Bentz punched coffee filters from notebook paper. - Janaki Ammal crossbred sugarcane for sweeter yields. - Bette Nesmith Graham, a secretary tired of retyping entire pages (because of typing mistakes), created what later became Liquid Paper. - Madhuri Mathur's Sumeet mixer-grinder changed kitchens forever. None set out to "disrupt industries." They solved irritation. Confusion. So when my friend Mahesh Ramamurthy demoed the Satori XR platform, it clicked instantly—the pain of selling complex engineering products on flat 2D slides. Customers couldn't grasp it. Coming from GE's legacy where it was always about the customer, I immediately saw how this experienced pain became a product solution for expressing complex product narratives easily. Instead of explaining complexity, you could step inside it. Instead of describing a system, you could experience it. Instead of telling a story, you could see it unfold in immersive 3D. Businesses today battle buzzword overload—AI, agentic AI, endless data streams. Selling complex products and standing out? Your workflows' survival might depend on it. We ask people to imagine complexity in 2D. But we humans understand best through experience. That's why I joined as CHRO + COO (yup, role expansion!) —bringing GE/Genpact operational rigour to startup speed, helping companies tell complex stories people actually understand. This week—I turned 49. My birthday. International Women's Day. 25 years in the workforce, including a career break, discovering yoga and letting it transform my life—bringing balance. Many transformations, teams built, lessons learned. Perspective changes. Innovation begins with simple human insight. Experience gets applied, not just accumulated. Balance becomes non-negotiable. Yoga is my quiet counterweight—balancing a demanding role, caregiving, and teaching voluntarily. Strength and stillness coexist. Perhaps that's the thread: women noticing friction and quietly redesigning it. Technology enabling powerful stories. Every chapter—even at 49—a new beginning. satorixr.ai Friday night reflections after an intense week. :) Have a good weekend! #IWD2026 #WomenInTech #XR #Innovation #StartupLife #SatoriXR

Roshni Dasgupta liked thisRoshni Dasgupta liked thisOver the past few years, I’ve noticed that most conversations around AI + XR tend to stay anchored to visuals, content creation, or hardware. How real does it look? How fast can we build it? How immersive is the experience? But in our journey at Satori XR, we’ve learned that the real shift is not about better environments. It’s about smarter ones. The value of AI + XR does not come from creating simulations faster. It comes from enabling environments that can adapt, respond, and influence decisions in real time. We’re moving from building static simulations to creating environments that respond, adapt, and immerse people in consequence-driven experiences. Because true immersion doesn’t come from realism alone. It comes from interaction, feedback, and intelligence. When AI and XR come together, immersion shifts from being visual to being behavioral. And that fundamentally changes how enterprises should think about adoption and impact. Sharing 5 misconceptions we encounter often in leadership conversations. Curious to know which one resonates most with your experience 👇

A San Diego medtech company quietly crossed $1B in annual revenue. Not valuation. Revenue. Decades of R&D, regulatory grind, and product iteration turned into real scale of helping those with diabetes. Hard tech wins rarely go viral - they endure. Listen in with Fred Grier: https://lnkd.in/gthnjZYn

Every operator, consultant, and banker with a network is realizing the same thing. Why advise on deals when you can lead them? Smart professionals are launching funds at record pace. The pattern is obvious. Healthcare executives launching biotech funds. Former operators starting B2B software funds. Industry veterans are tired of watching generalist VCs fumble deals in their space. Specialization beats generalization. Experience beats connections. Your track record speaks louder than your pedigree. Your network matters more than your alma mater. The old barriers to fund formation are dissolving. Technology platforms handle back office operations. Limited partners are diversifying beyond traditional institutional investors. The smart money is following the smart people. The result: A new generation of fund managers who actually understand the businesses they invest in. The question is not whether this trend continues. The question is whether you join it or watch from the sidelines.

The “Last Year’s Budget” Trap 🪤 If you frozen your budget today and started from zero, would you still make the same bets? Most CEOs say no. Yet, most companies’ capital allocation looks 90% like the year before. Most companies do not have a capital allocation problem. They have a reallocation inertia problem. It is the silent killer: last year’s plan becomes the default, so capital stays trapped in yesterday’s bets even as CAC, margins, and product velocity shift beneath your feet. A real pattern I see a lot: CAC up 30 to 50%, payback stretches from ~8 months to ~14 months, and the budget still says “last year + 8%. That’s not a plan. That’s annual planning on autopilot. In Part 2 of my Capital Allocation series, we’re breaking down the metrics and considerations that actually matter when deciding where to double down. What’s inside: 1️⃣ The 5 destinations: every dollar of free cash flow has only five places to go, and each needs a different lens 2️⃣ Gross profit is the fuel: allocating by revenue can quietly underfund your best products 3️⃣ Maintenance vs growth: why moonshots belong in the CEO’s cost center, not buried in business units 4️⃣ The AI cash trap: how top-line wins can still crush optionality if inference and delivery costs are not gated 5️⃣ Decompose LTV/CAC: compound metrics are fine for monitoring, but they hide the levers you actually need to pull True zero-based budgeting is frankly too time consuming to run every year. But you can steal the spirit: do not inherit last year’s assumptions. Re-justify the rationale with what you know today. ✅ Budgets don’t create value. Reallocation does. ❇️ Your best advantage isn’t planning harder. It’s reallocating faster. Read Part 2 here:

The Compliance Wall: Why #D2Cfounders stop halfway. Most D2C health founders never attempt to get a pharmaceutical license. Not because they don't see the value but because the sheer weight of compliance and complexity is paralyzing. They stick to simple OTC products because the alternative involves drug inspectors, hiring pharmacists, rigorous audits, and endless regulatory maintenance. It is a full time battle that distracts from building a brand. But avoiding this complexity is the single biggest cap on your revenue. Here is the symmetry between the Compliance Barrier you avoid and the Growth Engine you are missing: 1. The Acquisition Link • The Complexity: Gaining LegitScript certification requires a flawlessly documented supply chain. It feels impossible to start. • The Unlock: A compliant partner clears this hurdle instantly. Suddenly, you aren't fighting the ad platforms (Google/Meta); you are dominating them with lower CAC. 2. The AOV Link • The Complexity: Dispensing prescription (Rx) products requires a Licensed Pharmacist on staff and strict dispensing protocols. • The Unlock: When the supply chain is licensed, you can bundle Rx + OTC. Your ₹600 cart instantly becomes a ₹2500 treatment plan. 3. The Trust Link • The Complexity: Building a medical grade verification system from scratch is resource heavy and full of compliance issues. • The Unlock: Borrowed Authority. Displaying valid pharmacy credentials on your online store increases conversion rates by 30%. This is why DocPharma exists. We didn't just build a supply chain; we built a Regulatory Shield. As India’s first Compliant #B2B2CQuickCommerce Supply Chain, we have already fought the battles you are avoiding. We hold the licenses (Wholesale, Retail,FSSAI), manage the pharmacists, prescriptions, doctors, diagnostics and handle the compliances. You scale the #Brand. We absorb the #Complexity. Silence becomes power when your infrastructure has already fought the battles. #D2CIndia #HealthTech #RegulatoryStrategy #Growth #SupplyChain

The University of British… • 3K followers
After more than two decades of investing in healthcare, I've learned three things: be patient, resist trend-chasing, and wait until timing makes sense. With experience on dozens of boards, witnessing thousands of pitches, navigating frothy portfolio activity, and surviving the dud markets while waiting on good ones to return, I know that time and timing is key for success in healthcare investing. The challenge is, how do I convince LPs that the wait will be worth it? Peek at Relentless Venture Fund diversity of companies that span regenerative medicine to software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD), includes a repeat entrepreneur who practiced medicine, to technical founders who figured out IP rights in a way that only newbies to the industry would contemplate. The beauty of diversified portfolio construction, regulatory and risk balance. Deep bets take time. That's the opportunity in healthcare investing. BC has structural advantages that make deep bets work. World-class science from The University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria, BCCA and our research hospitals. Clinical trial facilities such as the new Phase 1 Clinical Trial Unit at Providence Health Care. Provincial commitment to the innovation ecosystem such as the government's participation in Aspect Biosystems' $200M, multi-year project to ensure a world class team thrives in a world class facility in our province. What would further amplify our potential? Procurement strategies that let BC companies prove themselves locally before going global. As a member of DIGITAL's investment committee, I evaluate and advance private/public partnerships that derisk technology and accelerate commercial adoption in BC and across Canada. These collaborations are shortening the path from lab to market. Timelines for liquidity in healthcare may be longer than other venture sectors, but the wins are foreshadowed years ahead. Canary Medical Inc. locked in a commercial partnership with Zimmer Biomet before regulatory approval. Aspect secured a $2.6B partnership with Novo Nordisk on pre-clinical data. Two BC founded, Relentless portfolio companies. It will be approximately one decade from our original investment in Aspect to their first human clinical trial. I am not fussed by the timeline. Each strategic partnership and validation of data by customers sets the stage for a high value exit. The beauty of investing in healthcare innovation is regulatory timelines are getting shorter and costs are dropping; innovation is expediting discovery, diagnosis, treatment and care options never imagined when I started my VC career. I know deep science takes time, and patient capital wins. And when they do, BC has an opportunity to capture value that historically flowed south. With the right policy support and patient capital aligned, we can continue to build category defining healthcare companies that scale from our province, not just launch here and relocate.
