The Condor (コンドル, Kondoru?) is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy VII.

Final Fantasy VII series[]
The condor appears as a species of giant birds. In Final Fantasy VII, one such condor has made its nest atop the aptly named Fort Condor in the Junon Area, where it incubates its egg. The Shinra Electric Power Company takes issue with the condor's presence, as Fort Condor is also home to a mako reactor they feel is threatened by the condor, and lay siege to the fort, which is defended only by poorly equipped locals trying to defend the condor and its egg. The party's efforts in assisting the defenders are depicted in the Condor War mini-game. After the final battle of the siege, the adult condor dies in a flash of light, leaving behind the freshly hatched baby condor and the Phoenix Summon Materia.
In the Final Fantasy VII remake project, Fort Condor only appears as a minigame with miniature condor game pieces atop each outpost. In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the live condor resides on an island off the coast of Junon. It hunts for large mammals, and even hunts a black robe, flying away with the man in its talons. A researcher in the area studies the condor and offers it food to observe it, hiring Cloud and Tifa on an odd job to procure the bait.

The Condor appears as an enemy encountered in Besaid. It is one of the first flying enemies encountered, emphasizing the use of Wakka's ranged attacks to defeat such foes.

Condor is the name for two species of vultures, each in a monotypic genus. They are the largest flying land birds in the Western Hemisphere.
