❔ "What are you #optimizing for?" One of the best questions I’ve ever been asked. ❔ Not a trivial one, and one that can easily catch you off guard. It’s a question we should all revisit at every stage of life, and especially as #founders. 👉 When I started my journey, I was all-in in any way or form. Every moment, every conversation, every thought was about the venture. Work didn’t stop when the day ended; I took it with me everywhere. It didn’t chase me; I intentionally chose it! I believed it was my responsibility, and that this was the only way to win. 👉 In many ways, that intensity was crucial and helped me grow. As founders, deep, uncompromised commitment often does make us better. That’s why this question never really goes away. 🔀 Over time, though, I realized something important: by experiencing the implications and speaking with many founders, I learned that optimizing only for the company is not sustainable. #OptimizingforLife - your partner, your family, your relationships, and yourself - actually makes you a better founder, and returns to the company a ripple effect. Not because of "well-being clichés", but because your life directly impacts your capacity, focus, prespectives and energy. Three quick things stand out for me: 1️⃣ Relationship with your life partner = Stability. Investing in your relationship with your spouse or partner creates a stronger foundation at home. When that part of your life is healthy and supportive, you can be fully present when you work. Focus becomes deeper and more intentional. 2️⃣ Relationship with your friends/family = Energy. Strong relationships bring balance. Your energy becomes more positive and more optimistic, which matters a lot when you’re facing uncertainty and challenges in a venture. 3️⃣ Relationship with yourself = Resilience. When you’re operating from awareness and clarity, and you know your current why, you become more resilient, more patient, and better at seeing opportunities instead of just reacting to problems. ♾️ The truth is, the question never disappears. You keep rebalancing. Some periods require more intensity; others require more space. That’s part of the journey. There is no right answer. There is no such thing as perfect balance. It’s continuous optimization. Thanks again Bricks & Bytes Owen Drury Martin Piekarz

Ohhh, thinking. Seems to be grossly overrated these days. Or is it? What would you give for taking out the drama of your projects? You know the late nights, the assumptions because you can't get answers, and the general lack of a plan. Well, I have good news for you—there is this thing called "Business Architecture" and one of its main qualities is to be the “drama mitigator,” according to the guest of our latest episode of the What's Your Baseline? podcast, Breanne Casteel. And I love this term, so I will “steal” it royalty-free ;-) Go and watch/listen to our episode with Breanne (Ep. 107 - Business Architecture Explained) wherever you get your podcasts! #businessarchitecture #businessprocessmanagement #enterprisearchitecture J-M Erlendson Martin Holling Markus Freimuth Markus Joldzic Marcus Leach Marcus Zschuckelt Mark Bednarski Mark McGregor Mark Stripp Matúš Mala Stefanie Hanschkatz Katharina Paulick
