Jenny Friedman shared thisCouldn't be more excited to be on this journey with Jeff Cripe and Team Procode AI. Jeff is one of the sharpest, most disciplined, impressive entrepreneurs and I'm so excited to see this next chapter unfold. Huge congratulations on the funding -- this is just the beginning!!!!Jenny Friedman shared thisOur Seed round was proof of concept: could we buy a surgical billing company and meaningfully accelerate its revenue, margin, and client outcomes with AI? Since acquiring The Auctus Group and partnering with John Gwin, we're on track to double revenue and quintuple EBITDA margin. We bill on contingency — we only get paid when our clients get paid. That's the proof point I care most about: our AI is putting more dollars in providers' pockets, not just automating paperwork. Today we're announcing Procode's $10M Series A, led by Health Velocity Capital. This round is about escape velocity: more acquisitions to announce in the coming months, and expansion into every surgical specialty and ASC billing. We're also publishing our first peer-reviewed research in PRS Global Open. Across 120 operative reports, we benchmarked our fine-tuned model against OpenAI's GPT-5, Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro, Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.5, and external professional auditors: Procode: 86.7% CPT coding accuracy. Human auditors: 42.5%. Best-performing general model: 35.8%. Coding accuracy isn't an academic metric. It results in fewer AR days and fully-captured reimbursements for surgeons who've been quietly leaving money on the table for years. Excited to welcome Grant Blevins to the Procode AI board. And a big thanks (and happy birthday!) to Kameron Rezzadeh for leading the research, and to the 350+ providers who trust us with their revenue. Jenny Friedman shared thisJenny Friedman shared thisToday we're announcing a $120 million Series C led by Menlo Ventures , bringing Assort Health's total funding to $222 million and our valuation to $1.2 billion. The number is a milestone. But it was never the point. Growing up, I was a patient transport volunteer. I helped people physically get to appointments and navigate a healthcare system that often didn't make sense to them. For some, simply having someone there to help made all the difference. Helping one patient get the care they needed was rewarding. But it was one person at a time. That experience has stayed with me. It's why Assort exists: to make exceptional healthcare accessible anytime, anywhere, for anyone, and to reach as many patients as possible. This funding is fuel for that mission. Every call, text, referral, form, appointment, and outreach creates context. Without Assort, context gets lost. Patients repeat themselves. Staff become the glue between systems that don't talk. Follow-ups slip. People fall through the cracks. Care gets delayed. Not because healthcare lacks information. Because it lacks continuity. What started as an AI agent answering phone calls has grown into a platform that schedules appointments, manages referrals, completes intake, proactively reaches patients, and helps healthcare organizations run the operational work for every visit. The part that matters most is that every interaction builds on the last. We call this Patient Journey Memory: turning disconnected touchpoints into one continuous conversation, so patients don't have to start over every step. Our brand film says it simply: Healthcare That Remembers. With this funding, we'll reach far more patients, serve many more healthcare organizations, keep building the product, and bring exceptional people onto the team. One full-circle detail: in the cofounder-dating questionnaire Jon Wang and I filled out before starting Assort, I wrote that building a company worth $100 million would be an incredible outcome. We've now passed that by more than 10x. It's a surreal milestone, and a reminder that the problem and opportunity are far bigger than we thought. None of this is ours alone. To the customers and partners who trusted us early, challenged our thinking, and shaped Assort: thank you. You took a chance on a young company, held us to a very high standard, and made us better than we could have become on our own. To Jean-Paul (J.P.) Sanday and Matt Murphy from Menlo Ventures and all new and returning investors: thank you for believing in our team and our mission. And to the Assort team: building AI systems in healthcare is hard. Building them in a way that patients trust and healthcare organizations rely on every day is even harder. Thank you for how much you care, how hard you push, and the standard you continue to set. We're still early. There are more patients to reach and a lot to build. That's why we're excited. Come help make healthcare remember every patient. We're hiring.

Jenny Friedman shared thisCalling all Horace Mann School alums!!!! See you next week!!!!!Jenny Friedman shared thisOne week from tonight, I'll be at the Empire Rooftop chairing the 23rd Annual Horace Mann School Alumni Benefit. Every dollar goes to one place: the Student Lunch Initiative, which provides daily meal cards to 198 Horace Mann students in grades 6-12 on financial aid. At $1,900 per student, the full program costs $376,200 this year. For many of these students, the food at school is their most reliable access to nutritious meals all day. It's the most direct impact we can have on a kid's day-to-day experience at school. As an educator who spends her time thinking about what students need to do their best work, this one has my whole heart. Horace Mann is the reason I do what I do for a living. The teachers I had there shaped how I think about education, about students, about what's possible when a school invests in the whole kid. Chairing this Benefit is how I get to give some of that back. Three ways to help, whether or not you're an HM alum: 🦁 Bid the online auction, open to anyone, no need to attend. 🦁 Grab a ticket if you're in NYC and want to join us June 2nd. 🦁 Share this post — every share helps us reach more of the community. We're still open for sponsorships, both individual and corporate, as well as auction items and journal ads, so please reach out to me. It's not too late to be involved. If you're an HM alum with your own business, this is an awesome way to get in front of a vibrant, engaged alumni community beyond the tristate area. Huge thanks to my co-chairs Jenny Friedman and Lindsay Kaplan and the whole HM Alumni Office team for making this happen. https://lnkd.in/eVZXhZyv #HoraceMann #HoraceMannAlumniCouncil #GivingBack #FinancialAid

Jenny Friedman shared thisGrateful that Four Acres Capital has been able to be a small supporter since pre-seed on this journey with Abdel Mahmoud, MD and the team at Anterior. Anterior is building clinician-designed AI to modernize healthcare administration — streamlining prior authorization and other complex workflows so decisions happen faster and patients get the care they need without unnecessary friction. Can't wait to see this team change the future of healthcare. Sequoia Capital x New Enterprise Associates (NEA) x FPV Ventures x Kinnevik https://lnkd.in/egQrimNnJenny Friedman shared thisToday we're humbled to share that Anterior has brought total funding to $64M with an additional $40M round. We raised based on traction - now supporting organizations covering 50M lives. So far, our impact has been felt by: - The tens of thousands of patients now getting care approved in ~155s (instead of weeks) with 99.24% accuracy.. (we’re on track for millions of patients this year!) - Providers too… with our health plan partners achieving 3X higher provider NPS scores - and finally Health Plans… driving millions in operational and medical cost savings for our partners annually This capital lets us go further on what we set out to do - make healthcare better for everyone through AI that health plans can actually trust. Not only that - we’re also excited to welcome Secretary David Shulkin (fmr. VA Secretary), Peter Long (fmr. CSO, Blue Shield of CA), and William Golden (fmr. CEO Employer & Individual, UHC) as advisors… with more to come soon. We're grateful to Sequoia Capital and New Enterprise Associates (NEA) for continuing to believe in us, and glad to welcome FPV Ventures and Kinnevik as new investors. Back to building! 🚀

Jenny Friedman shared thisI met Jon Wang and Jeffery L. just over 2 years ago when they were raising their seed. Hard to believe their thesis of agentic voice for health clinics was actually quite novel back then… Fast forward to today, this team has built a world class product as a real first mover. It’s been truly special to watch Assort Health take on one of healthcare’s toughest challenges — patient access — and reduce the burden on physician practices and hospitals. Four Acres Capital is BEYOND THRILLED to have been a small part in this journey since day 1. Onto SERIES B!!!!!!!!!! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀 Lightspeed x First Round Capital x ChemistryJenny Friedman shared thisA patient’s journey shouldn’t start with “please hold.” Today, we’re announcing $102M to ensure it never happens again. Ten years ago, Galym and I shook hands on our first venture—a small nonprofit with a big ambition to make healthcare investing more impactful. Today, we’re partnering again in a new way: a $76M Series B featured in Fortune and led by Lightspeed, which brings Assort Health's total funding to $102M. Galym is joining our board, and we’re thrilled to welcome Paul Ricci (founding CEO of Nuance Communications) as a board advisor. I left UCSF med school and Stanford AI research because I couldn’t accept that patients spend more time waiting on hold than with their doctors. Assort Health is making sure they never have to again. The funding will be used to scale Assort OS: an all-in-one patient experience platform powered by agentic AI via voice, text, web, and email. It handles the most complex aspects of access, including scheduling, care navigation, lab coordination, prescription renewals, referrals, and more. Before: endless hold times, wrong doctors, missed care. After: seamless scheduling, faster care, happier patients. What this means in practice: 89% shorter wait times, 98% resolution rates, and patient ratings > 4.6/5 across hundreds of organizations—driven by tens of millions of patient interactions at thousands of providers. To every practice and health system tired of hold music: we’d love to show you a better way. And if you’re excited to help us build the future of patient access, we’re hiring across growth, ops, and engineering. With Assort, we’re ending the dreaded hold music—once and for all! Huge appreciation to all of our investors for this round: Lightspeed, Felicis, First Round Capital, Chemistry, Quiet Capital, A*, Liquid 2 Ventures, Apolo Ohno, Joe Montana. Thank you to Allie Garfinkle for telling our story so thoughtfully. You can find it in the comments. —and finally, to the Assort team, who are in the arena and shipping product for patients every day! ------------------------------------- Thankful to our many supporters Brenton Fargnoli, M.D., Sebastian Duesterhoeft, Will Kohler, Bill Trenchard, Kristina Shen, Matt Humphrey, Mark Goldberg, Ethan Kurzweil, Amit Garg, Ian Feeney, Ali Javid, Bobby Green, M.D., Cameron Woodward, Aditya Khosla, Allison Pickens, Jay Desai, Andrew Tan, Jenny Friedman, Immad Akhund, Umesh Khanna, Kemuel Carey, Parinita Amin, Titus Abraham, Mandy McClellan, Roy Rosin, Emery Rosansky, and many more. Lucky for me, Four Acres Capital got that chance with Turnout a few months back. The company helps users resolve tax debt relief and disability claims faster. Itai is the type of guy who you meet and immediately want to back. He’s a confident force who turns everything he is a part of into a 🦄 and I can’t wait for Turnout to join the club. Jenny Friedman reacted on thisJenny Friedman reacted on thisBaselayer Raises $35M to Build Identity Infrastructure for Autonomous AI Agents Baselayer has raised $35 million in Series A funding to extend its identity and fraud-risk technology from businesses to the rapidly emerging world of autonomous AI agents. The round was led by M13, with participation from Torch Capital, Picus Ventures, Afore Capital, and Matt Thompson of Socure. The financing brings Baselayer’s total funding to roughly $40 million since its founding in 2023. Founded by Jonathan Awad and Timothy Hyde, Baselayer originally focused on helping banks, fintechs and other financial institutions verify businesses, assess risk and detect fraud through Know Your Business (KYB) infrastructure. The company says its technology is now used by more than 2,000 financial institutions, representing over one-fifth of U.S. institutions, and has helped customers prevent more than $1 billion in fraud losses. Alongside the funding, Baselayer launched its Agentic Identity Suite, built around a “Know Your Agent” approach. The infrastructure is designed to help companies determine which AI agent is acting, which person or business it represents, and whether that agent is authorized to perform a particular transaction. That becomes increasingly important as AI agents move beyond answering questions and begin making purchases, moving money, opening accounts and interacting with businesses autonomously. Baselayer is positioning identity as a foundational trust layer for this emerging agent-driven economy. The next phase of AI may not only require smarter agents — it will require proving exactly who those agents represent and what they are allowed to do. #Baselayer #AI #AIAgents #ArtificialIntelligence #Fintech #IdentityInfrastructure #Cybersecurity #StartupFunding #VentureCapital #AgenticAI

Jenny Friedman reacted on thisJenny Friedman reacted on thisEvery week I spend time on site with our customers. And every week, I see the same thing: binders, spreadsheets, and sticky notes scattered across their desks. It's a constant reminder of how much work is still left to do in healthcare, and it's exactly why Jeffery L. and I started Assort Health. When patient and care team context lives across fragile tools, patients repeat their story for the third time, staff spend their day chasing down information, and getting care is harder than it should be. The San Francisco Business Times sat down with me to talk about why we built Assort, what it actually took to get AI agents working in the messy reality of healthcare, and why I believe the right kind of AI makes care more human, not less. Three years in, we’ve raised a $120M Series C and built a team nearing 300 people. That team is expanding what our AI can do across patient access. They’re building security into every layer because patient information leaves no room for shortcuts. And our agent experts and FDEs are on site, solving problems alongside the customers who encounter them every day. I'm proud of those milestones. I’m even more proud that everyone at Assort has chosen to spend their time on a problem most of us have experienced firsthand: trying to navigate the healthcare system. Thank you Hannah Kanik and San Francisco Business Times for telling this story, and to the whole Assort Health team for building it with me.

Jenny Friedman liked thisJenny Friedman liked thisLast night in the East Village, a 15-year old girl on a Citbike e-bike was hit by a heavy-duty industrial truck and killed. In May, Citibike, after a year of preparation, was prepared to roll out a new age verification system to ensure that no one under the allowed age of 16 could rent an e-bike. The day before the launch, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Deputy Mayor Julia Kerson ordered Citibike to stand down. Their argument was that biometric screening is racist and therefore it cannot be used. They also argued that data about Citibike users should not be collected even though every ride already is recorded since renting a bike means using a digital device and payment in the first place. The mayor’s unyielding devotion to a far left ideology at the expense of common sense has now resulted in the death of an innocent girl. His refusal to put real people ahead of Instagram politics and Bushwick basement philosophizing has yet again resulted in real world harm, just as his refusal this past winter to break up homeless encampments led to the death of 19 people who froze to death. This mayor neither understands his roles and responsibilities, nor does he care. Getting more followers on TikTok is all that matters. E-bike crashes are up more than 32% this year compared to last. It is time to immediately implement the Citibike age verification system before more kids are killed or injured on e-bikes. And if Deputy Mayor Kerson continues to obstruct public safety, the City Council should demand that she be relieved of her duties. https://lnkd.in/gsAmaKWPGirl, 15, on Citi Bike Is Killed in Collision With Truck in ManhattanGirl, 15, on Citi Bike Is Killed in Collision With Truck in Manhattan

Jenny Friedman reacted on thisJenny Friedman reacted on thisHudson, my one-year-old, is obsessed with my husband. There is no denying it. He insists on saying only “Dada.” But this weekend, out of nowhere, we were having a little moment on the changing table, just the two of us, and all of a sudden he started pointing at me and saying, “Mama. Mama. Mama.” It was one of those parenting moments that just bursts your heart wide open. The true definition of light. Raising our children is the gift of a lifetime. It’s really hard at times, of course, but I also think this is probably the closest we will ever get to true magic: young kids. The joy they carry around without even knowing they’re carrying it. The innocence / the wonder / the curiosity. I keep coming back to the light. This past week, we lost a really good person far too soon. A dad and a husband. Someone full of kindness. My heart is breaking for his wife, Carly, his kids, his family, and his closest friends. There are no words that make a loss like this make sense. And still, I keep coming back to the light. To the pieces of people that live on in the people they loved. To the kindness they put into the world. To their children. I keep thinking about Spencer’s kids and the light that exists in them simply because they are kids. The innocence. The joy. The silliness. The tiny moments that can burst your heart wide open, even when it is breaking. Not because it is their job to make any of this easier or to carry any of the weight of this tragedy. But because that light is just there. Maybe that’s one of the gifts our kids give us. They remind us that even when the world feels impossibly heavy, there is still light. And maybe one of the things we can do for each other is help carry that light when things feel especially dark. Please join me in donating to Carly and her family in honor of my friend, Spencer. DM me or email hi@auggie.com with a copy of your donation receipt, and Auggie will match your donation up to a certain amount. https://lnkd.in/gi3tpgGK Sending you so much light, Carly. From the outside, venture looks like a game of picking “winners”. From the inside, it’s a game of returning the fund. I put together a short overview of the 3 numbers that actually matter for LPs: flop rate, DPI, and why one company must be able to pay back the whole fund.

An emerging VC manager's fundraising lessons... the first two funds are a grind. Now, we’re on our third fund, it feels like we’re almost over the hump, but fundraising never gets easy for most of us. I want to congratulate the emerging VC firms presenting at this year’s RAISE Global conference. As former RAISE presenters, and (soon-to-graduate) emerging managers, we thought we’d share this LP Translator, a lighthearted guide to decoding what LPs really mean during the fundraising process. Fellow GPs, which ones did I miss? 👇 The LP Translator 📣 "Let’s stay in touch.” Translation: We’re not interested. “We want to see your track record develop.” Translation: Either we don't believe in your strategy, or we’re focused on managers with more buzz. “We’re not allocating to new managers right now.” Translation: We’re not allocating to you right now. "Show us your deals so we can get to know you.” Translation: We’d like free co-invests if you get something hot. “We need to see more DPI before we commit.” Translation: We don’t really understand VC, but we’re pretending to. “We’re fully allocated for this year; check in early next year.” Translation: Next year we’ll still be fully allocated (just not to you). “Call us before final close.” Translation: I’m too polite to say no at this time, so I’m kicking the can down the road. “Your fund is too small.” Translation: Okay, that one might actually be true (for some LPs). “We went through your data room and want to meet face-to-face.” Translation: We’re genuinely interested, keep going! “Can you send us your LPA for signature?” Translation: Let’s go! 🚀 -------------------------- Fundraising is a long game, longer than we ever expected. We're now seeing how LP relationships are built across several funds, not several months. If they’re investing time to learn about you and your strategy, that’s your best signal of real interest. #emergingmanager #venturecapital #LP #RAISEGLOBAL

Every operator thinks they’re “institutional.” But their balance sheet, GP commit, and fund structure say otherwise. Early-stage teams need guarantees. Mid-scale groups need GP co-invest relief. Mature platforms need repeatable LP capital. Until you know where you sit on that continuum, every co-GP conversation is just guessing a guess price, power & leverage. In my recent conversation with David Robertson, CEO of FrontRange Capital we unpack some of the mechanics of GP capital needs and the sources available to help.
